These brothers 🐶🐶 had my heart ❤️ when they came into the shelter! Through lots of sharing, networking, pledging and an AMAZING group of networking volunteers who work tirelessly to save the dogs the dogs at this shelter. Bo and Luke have left the building! 🎉🎉.
It’s takes a village but that village is one I’m proud the be a part of!
Here they are getting ready to take their Freedom Ride!

It truly shows the reason you should microchip your pets! So happy for Nugget and his family. WOW!! 7 years later they are re-united! Just wonderfully AMAZING!!

Update—- Nugget has been cleared to fly home with his Mom.

We will do a full update in a little bit. To say things have been busy and a little nuts is an understatement. We will update on this post since this has been shared so many times!!! So keep your eyeballs peeled!

Special thank you to the team at Foothills and Dr Wooten for seeing Nugget today for his exam and bloodwork. He also received shots and he has a health certificate to fly home to New Mexico 🙂

Alright my fellow dog lovers and Micro Chip Advocates! 7 years ago this gorgeous boy went missing. He was his Moms' (in her words) ride or die. He rode horses, drove with her in the truck , went to Rodeos, was kicked by a horse and survived being shot. He was and is her Heart. She spent years looking for him!

This is where the story gets twisty....he was found in South Carolina Last Night limping down a wet dark road. His finder took him to the ER where they found a Micro Chip. Registered to the Address in NM and the phone number was active. YES! Mom is found.

But now what? Where has he been these past 7 years? Who took care of him? Who allowed him to get into the shape he is in now? Those are Questions we do not have the answers for. Legally he is his Mom's dog as he is chipped to her.

What we do know is that he will be seen by our Doctors this afternoon to get his shots up to day and a full exam and blood work. He needs a bath and a good nail trim and ear check as he stinky to high heaven. He had trouble eating this morning so his Good Samaritan bought him some wet food 🙂 Jennifer could not believe he found her door. Let me tell you, we are all THRILLED he did!

Now what you ask? Well, CLHR is flying Mom to Greenville tomorrow to reunite him with his Mom! Yes, you read that right! We will know today if he is well enough to fly back home with her or if we need to make other arrangements for him to retire in SC! 🙂 Either way this will be a decision made with Mom, Dr. Wooten and Dr. Randall! as to his health and best Practice!

Old dogs don't die; they can't. They've merely run up ahead; they're waiting for us just out of sight. Close your eyes late at night and you may smell his musky odor, or perhaps hear his snuffle from the next room. Pay attention and you may feel his nose on your hand or the back of your calf. When your final day comes, you can go on to meet him; he's never left you and never will, and when you close your eyes for the last time, you'll open them again to be met with his Bright eyes and wagging tail.

Old dogs don't die, at least, not those dogs who take the biggest chunks of our hearts with them when they leave us. Those dogs are inextricably part of our souls, and they go with us wherever we are. Though we may not see them, we know they're there because our heart is still beating; we still breathe, and those of us who have been truly touched by a good dog know our lives really started the day we met them.

Magnificent dogs don't die. They shepherd our dreams and only allow the good ones through the gates of our consciousness. They watch over us much as they did in life, and that moment when we step just barely outside of death or disaster, it's because they moved our feet or they stopped short in front of us as they did in life.

You see, a good dog is something only given to a few people. They are a gift from the universe and, though they're with us only a short time, they never really leave us. They are loyalty and love perfected, and once we are graced with that sort of love we can never lose it. We merely lose sight of it for a time, and that is our fault; for how can love like that ever go away?

It can't. It can't, and it never will. For these brave souls trade their hearts for ours, and they beat together beyond sickness, beyond death. They are ours, and we are theirs, for every sunrise and every sunset, until the sun blazes its last and we once again join the stars.

I just signed up for this challenge! 💗Between my love for dogs 🐶, all the dog walking I do 🏃🏼‍♀️🐕 🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕 plus being a cancer survivor…it’s just a no brainer that I log those miles for charity.

So for all those currently fighting cancer and for those loved ones we’ve lost, I’ll fight by walking 30 miles in November.

It was a dog who truly healed my soul post my cancer treatment in 2011, so I feel very privileged to do this. I hope you will support me!

Dog parks are super popular these days. They are a wonderful outlet for some dogs, but not all dogs. Actively watching the dogs and recognizing signs of stress when play starts to go wrong will go a long way in making the experience a positive one and keeping all dogs safe.
