We also minimize the liklihood of losing sight of a darted animal on a vast landscape. 2️⃣ Minimized Human-Animal Interaction: By using helicopters, we can maintain a safe distance from the antelope, minimizing stress and the risk of injury for both the animals and our dedicated team. Animals can be monitored from a distance until they are safe to approach by the ground team. 3️⃣ Precision Handling: With experienced pilots at the helm, we can navigate challenging terrains and access remote locations with ease. Celebrating Valentines day with Dr. Love and his fan club ♥️

Celebrating one of our biggest wins of 2023 as the year comes to a close. Delilah is a newborn giraffe calf who was born with a severe tendon issue that required veterinary intervention. With the help of our incredible team of veterinarins, ICU staff and incredible welders, we created custom splints to reinforce Delilah’s legs and allow her tendons to strengthen so she could walk. Delilah required 24/hr care for the first two weeks of her life. It was a tremendous team effort and we are so proud of the team dedication and Delilah’s sheer tenacity to live. Veterinary medicine is a hard profession. A wise veterinarian once told me that the reality of veterinary medicine is that we get to perform miracles and we dont celebrate those enough. Giraffe immobilizations 🦒♥️ The giraffes are intubated and ventilated using a megavertebrate demand ventilator, which helps provide respiratory support during anesthesia.

We dont give up! When Becky the one week old bongo calf exhibited signs of lethargy and weakness coupled with gastrointestinal disease, we knew we would have to act quickly to save her life. Dr. Love and Dr. East jumped into action administering Becky plasma transfusions and placed an indwelling intravenous catheter to provide the necessary nutrition Becky was lacking due to not eating. Parenteral nutrition is an important adjunct to therapy of abdominal diseases in calves. Parenteral nutrition is administered on a short-term basis to prevent further protein-energy malnutrition in debilitated calves that cannot or will not consume adequate quantities of milk. Parenteral nutrition solutions are give through the IV catheter and consist of a protein source (amino acids) and energy sources (glucose and lipid emulsions), supplemented as needed with balanced electrolytes and vitamins. After one week of intensive care Becky showed remarkable improvement. Becky is now a 100% normal bongo calf and we are overjoyed. Thank you to Dr. Julie Carroll for allowing us to purchase your TPN! Early morning captures ☀️

This wekeend the EWVS team worked 500 Elk and Red Deer as part of herd health surveilance. All animals are being tested for Brucellosis and Tuberculosis. The use of a hydraulic squeeze chute allows for a lower stress sample collection from the animals. We are incredibly proud of our team for completing this incredible undertaking! Shout out to our veterinary staff Dr. East & Dr. Weise and veterinary technician Kerigan who have been preparing for two weeks for this. Special thank you to Texas Tech College of Veterinary Medicine for lending us some students, faculty and graduate students!
