We would like to introduce you to SALEM (the Retriever on the right) and his new family!!!!

Salem was brought to our attention but a friend of ours in Saginaw. We immediately began to work on the app and we never even posted this boy because it all went so fast! We love when we can get a pet home like this! What an awesome match!!! All the way around!!

We don’t usually take this many pics but the priority during the adoption clearly was play! We were all laughing!

Guess what else we did today!!!! We got Ginger her family!!!! Woooo hoooo! Go Gingie! And she has a Beagle Brother too! And they both did great at teaching our new Giant Mastiff Mix Pups how to “Beagle” properly.

This morning they were in a crate in the hallway at an AC… tonight bathed and in a home! Thanks to FOSTERS!!! FOSTERS ROCK! I am filled with gratitude for the people stepping up to help (even when they have a full house already) and stretching themselves! I am grateful to be in your company!

Let me back up just a little. Tuscola County called this morning. They’re a pretty close county to here and they’re at double capacity and more strays were coming in… there aren’t many options for that. One rescue, Patadise, pulls from here…. And that’s it. So the director called! And our fosters stepped up! THEY SAVED LIVES TODAY! Let that sink in! We can’t always do this but today we not only could but did! When our neighboring ACs need help it’s wonderful when we can.

Kenzo is almost all Blue and Kyrie is Blue with white.

These puppies who weigh in around 50 lbs each are mastiff pittie mixes and have the best temperaments! W O W!!! Pretty sure they thought they were beagles at the adoption we had today! Haha. They didn’t even care if Punk was there AND they like to watch tv… BINGO! Couch potato!!!

They have had their distemper vaccination and we will get them in soon for the rest and to get those neuters scheduled!

Taking apps yet?! We truly do not see any reason why we should wait. They won’t be able to go home until the rest of the vetting is complete. These are some super nice boys! I’m sure they will get adopted quickly!

THOR UPDATE…..

Thor’s ringworm culture came back negative (whew! Lol). A second demodex mange scrape was checked and that was negative. That leaves suspicion for either system shock leading to issues with his fur OR underlying endocrine disorder. He cannot get bloodwork done for that until he is a bit bigger. In the interim, he couldn't get vaccinated yet. He also has a very mild heart murmur, but lots of times they grow out of them so fingers crossed.

And look what a donor got for him!!! Thank you so much!!!!

It’s time for you to meet Raine! Oh wait does her name sound familiar to you? It should.we got her as a puppy and now she is 10 months old. She is coming back due to health issues with the current owner, which is super hard for the family but they’re doing what right for their health.

Raine is UTD and spayed, weighs 55-60 lbs. she is a cuddle bug! She currently lives with 2 dogs but has not been around kids or cats yet. She is a barker and all the current family does to get her to stop is pick up a water bottle. She’s still a puppy through and through and does jump so that is a behavior that can be corrected when an adopter meets her for the firsts time set those ground rules day 1.

HOW ABOUT NOW!!!???

Meet 1 yo Snickers! She is a Cattledog mix and was found as a stray in another county. This girl is ready for a family that will give her a job and keep her busy. She’s super sweet and was a bit difficult to get pics that did not include the blurr of her moving hahaha!

She is great with dogs of all sizes and has been around all ages of kids. We have not cat tested her but will do that in the near future. We will also be getting her vetting done and scheduling her spay.

If you think this is the addition to your family you have been missing, go to midlandcountypitstop.org and submit an app for her. That is where our app process begins.

We do not schedule meet & greet prior to approvals because we are foster based and we do not have a facility. Our fosters would be running like crazy all the time to meet & greets and we want to be respectful of their time since they do such an important job for us!

Oh Rachel what a sweet girl! Yes another of the Old Testament Puppies born October 15, 2024.

They’re all super confident, happy and friendly bunch. Super enjoyable to be around. They’re all UTD on vaccinations and s/n is this week. We will want to give them some recovery time before they home so as not to start their new life with a new family so close behind surgery.

This litter is super sweet and whether you want male or female, brindle, fawn, white, white with fawn… you name it this litter has got it!

It’s a rare occasion I share my dogs (P***y is employed by the rescue and he’s in charge of social media so posting him doesn’t count). But today is a big day not only for one of mine but Debbie’s dog Inka. 13 years ago today, a litter of Peruvian Inca Orchid Puppies was born in Clare County, MI. SAFE took these puppies in sometime later. We got to know Connie & Dawn at SAFE as well as Debbie and her family have become part of the rescue family!

Average life expectancy is 11-12 years and these kiddos have beat that. They’re street dogs in Peru, have bad teeth, love the sun therefore prone to skin cancer (sunscreen? Can’t have lanolin in it) and are always cold. You can never sit on a blanket because there may be a PIO under it!

The purpose of this post is not only to say Happy Birthday to these two special dogs but to bring awareness to the breed, it’s health concerns, their amazing temperament and a true testament to how rescue changes so much for the pets we love and rescue!

We interrupt this COLD 🥶 Saturday Afternoon to talk about, YES. A PUPPY!!! Hold up! This is Marshmellow aka Smooshy! You may remember the big deep gash she had in her neck when we got her. Her foster family did an awesome job at taking her through many vet visits and a surgical procedure only to quickly realize that Smooshy wasn’t going ANYWHERE! They made it official today and Smooshy has a new last name!!!

Hi my name is Leah and I’m an Old Testament Puppy! Yes it’s another one!!!!

Born Oct 15, 2024 to Sarah, our 15 yo Mom and what a sweet cuddly little girl Leah is! Oh my goodness! She is vaccinated and will be spayed soon and she will be ready to go home as soon as she has some healing time after her surgery!

She’s great with other dogs and it was good to see her and her litter mates follow the correction an adult dog gave and obey!
