During the warmer months, farriers become incredibly busy. I am currently scheduling appointments 4-5 weeks out. With that being said, keeping to a regular schedule all year long will help the horse, clients, and farriers. By keeping on a regular schedule 4,6,8, or 10 weeks, not months or years, but weeks. Will help us ensure that you can have your horses treated in a timely manner. Calling months between appointments and getting annoyed because we cannot fit you in, in 2 weeks. Can be prevented if we help each other out.
I understand life happens, things do happen everyone gets sick, gets hurt, family emergencies etc....However, happening every appointment? We all make mistakes, I do make some with scheduling. I do try to be understandable, and forgiving.
I am trying to adjust my schedule to allow time for real emergencies, for example lame horse, pulled shoes those type of emergencies.
Calling multiple farriers to see who can get to you sooner. Expecting any of the farriers to hold appointments for you, just in case someone can't get to you sooner. I find this very rude and disrespectful. Asking us to leave open a significant time slot for you, just in case someone else cannot get to you. When we could have filled that slot for a loyal customer. Who is now upset because we had to push them off, just to be "ghosted" by you.
