🐴⏰ Giddy up – the clocks go forward this weekend! 🌞🌿

On Sunday, March 31st at 1 AM, the clocks spring forward by one hour, which means longer, lighter evenings in the yard! 🌅🐎

Yes, we lose an hour of sleep 😴, but that’s nothing a good gallop and a strong coffee can’t fix! ☕🏇

Set your clocks before bed on Saturday night and enjoy those extra daylight hours for riding, mucking out, and making the most of spring! 🌷

🎉 Welcome to Jack! 🎉

We’re thrilled to introduce Jack O'Meara MVB MRCVS to our team! Jack graduated from University College Dublin and has since gained valuable experience at Keros Insemination & Embryo Transfer Centre in Belgium, and Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital in Victoria, Australia, where he worked as a stud vet.

With a strong passion for equine reproduction and anaesthesia/pain management, Jack’s expertise is an exciting addition to our team. Having grown up on a farm in rural Ireland, he’s always had a love for horses and is excited to be part of the Torch family.

When Jack isn't caring for horses, you can find him hunting, exploring the great outdoors, or playing the violin. He’s recently moved to North Devon and can’t wait to discover all the area has to offer!

Poor Marley had a bit of an ordeal last Thursday, getting stuck in one of the ditches on Northam Burrows.
Vets Lauren and Elisha attended along with the fire brigade to help get him back on his feet!
We are happy to report Marley has forgotten all about it and is back out with his friends. A super team effort all round!

🐎FEI VACCINE CHANGES🐎

It is now a requirement that all FEI registered horses need to have their influenza vaccinations recorded on the FEI HorseApp at the time of their vaccination. Your vet will have access to the app and will register the vaccination when they attend your horse. We will also need to take a photograph of your horse to upload to the app for identification reasons.

Please let us know when booking your vaccination if your horse has an FEI passport as the vet will need to ensure the vaccine is recorded in the app and in the passport at the time of the vaccine.

If this is relevant to you, please can you ensure that:

1) The passport is present at the time of vaccination

2) Rugs are removed prior to vaccination to allow the vet to photograph both sides of your horse to confirm identification

👉Athletes, grooms, owners and trainers:
Update your app to the most recent version and please enter your previous vaccinations into the FEI HorseApp prior to your horses next vaccination date.

Did you realise all horses are at risk of flu, even if they don’t leave the yard as the virus can travel through the air up to 2km*. Plus competing and hacking horses could get infected and bring flu back to your yard.
Vaccination is the most effective tool you have to protect your horse. If your horse is unvaccinated, please contact the practice to book an appointment and take advantage of our vaccination amnesty!
