Wyndham & Wyndhamian Retrievers The Wyndham-Wyndhamian hunting retrievers a a life long hobby kennel with quality Flat Coated and Chesapeake Bay Retrievers since 1953. Good Health, 2.

Prime emphasis is Health, Soundness, Durability, Temperament & Longevity. The WYNDHAM-WYNDHAMIAN Retrievers began in 1953, when then 10 year old Ed Atkins, obtained his first flat coated retriever followed within weeks by his first Chesapeake Bay retriever. Without doubt, this team of hunting retrievers and the sustained breeding program represent the longest single owner effort in each of the two

breeds world wide. The passion behind this avocation is aimed at quality, not quantity. This making it all the more remarkable that today world wide every registered flat coated retriever traces to one or more flatcoats owned and/or bred by Ed Atkins over the past 64 years.Similarly, today there are members of this kennel and their decedents found deep in the pedigrees of Chesapeakes across North America, Europe and Australia. The kennel of working retrievers is also unique because, while adhering to classic breed type and function, the primary breeding and selection goals remain as always 1. Soundness, 3. Durability, 4. Longevity and 5 Temperaments that are easy to live with and train. Firmly believing that "The proof is in the pudding" pride is taken that stock bred here in each of the two breeds are on average living into their teen years, most working 12 or more shooting seasons on wild game birds, and that they train easily without any use of electric devices or other negative instruments of pain and intimidation. With average game bags in excess of 3,000 head of game each year collected from the river, pounds, slews and fields it is testament that the intensive program of xraying, eye exams and hard work have resulted in sound, functional animals. Animals bred here but owned by other sportsmen, have produced Field Trial Champions on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. Likewise, animals bred, owned, imported or bred from Wyndham-Wyndhamian animals have won Best of Breed at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club dog show in New York's Madison Square Garden 19 times. Not bad for country bumpkin hunting dogs!!!

The rugged but happy go lucky “Katy” (Ch. Wyndham’s Katy Kate) has been mated to “Jake”, a powerfully built larger son of Wyndham’s Helping Hand. Puppies were born 22 October. Katy is a very determined and smart worker, used on both upland and waterfowl. She has been a delight to shoot over for the past 6 shooting seasons and is the household clown that truly enjoys life. This past March, during the spring snow goose migration, she broke through sheet ice covering flooded soybean fields and plowed through the muck below the water to collect 145 geese in one morning. As soon as I got her home she waited for the other dogs to be released and led the charge up the hill and several times around a 100 acre hay meadow before having a drink of water and looking for dinner. Jake is beginning his 3rd shooting season in Minnesota. A focused retriever that is a typical Chesapeake, no nonsense bird finder and retriever. This breeding brings together a variety of old hunting lines that have been gathered in and nurtured in this kennel for more than 60 years. Both parents of this expected litter have been x-rayed clear of any hip, elbow anomalies, and have been individually DNA tested as clear of DM and PRA(PRCD). They are very typical of the kennels 60+ years of emphasizing HEALTH, SOUNDNESS, DURABILITY, TEMPERAMENT and LONGEVITY! there were 3 males and 2 females in the litter. They are all doing very well and will be going to hunting homes from Alaska, south to Texas.

The liver colored imported FLAT COATED RETRIEVER female, “Lola” (Peranki Loebar Lola at Wyndhamian), will be mated to “Knight” (Wyndham’s Naughty N’ Nice). Lola is a high energy birdfinder with a sweet personality. She is a daughter of Atherbram Indigo out of female from excellent working lines. Knight is a focused and level headed dog with a powerful build. He is a son of the current senior members of this kennel team, GCH. Wyndhams Kubla Kahn and Faradorn Pretty Peachy (Both currently 12 1/2 years old and working their 13th shooting season). Puppies will be hoped for during the spring of 2020. Both black and liver colored puppies are expected.
