I just got a notification from Facebook that this page has reached 500 "likes" -- thank you to everyone that follows me here! I apologize, I'm not as active on this page as I should be...but I plan to change that! I'm going to make an attempt to post more "tips & tricks" as well as things to do with your dog - especially while so many people are spending more time at home with their dogs!! :)
I mentioned yesterday that I am still happy to do in-home private lessons and my conformation handling classes will continue on 3 times each week (unless the City of Glendale requires me to stop teaching them at park...but I don't anticipate that). While I don't usually recommend board and train options for most behavioral problems (if the rules don't change in your dog's daily environment, the behaviors won't change!), they can be a great opportunity for learning new commands, helping with mild separation anxiety, and great for mental stimulation! Watch for some less expensive "board & train" type options to be available soon!!!
Also, while not YOUNG any more, I'm certainly not in the "at risk" age group yet...I'm a healthy person that rarely gets sick...so honestly, I am not worried about getting this virus myself (I'm quite confident that with some rest and OTC meds, I would be fine quickly if I were to get it)....I AM concerned for those in the "at risk" group and extremely concerned for what this is going to do to our country (and the world) financially, and we all know that socialization is important (not only for our dogs, but also for US!). That being said, I am also available to help those of you in the Phoenix/Glendale, AZ area that might need someone to go to the store for you, pick up dog food/medications, take your dog to the vet, etc. I'm happy to do this in my spare time (which I seem to have a LOT of right now!)...donations not required, but GREATLY appreciated for this service!
I'm not a technology expert by any means either, however I think I can figure out how to do a video call if anyone would like to schedule a "virtual" lesson or do a phone consultation for specific issues you might be having. Cost for this service is $25/half hour (payable through Venmo or Zelle). Please message, email, or call if you would like to take advantage of this or any other service I've mentioned. www.maverickdogtraining.com
Stay safe, and enjoy this extra time with your dogs!!!
