Urgent Animals in Waco This is a volunteer-run page to help network animals in danger in the Greater Waco, TX area.

This page was created to promote animals that are in URGENT need of rescue, adopters, or fosters at the Waco Animal Control Facility. We need adopters, rescue organizations, transporters, and volunteers everywhere around the United States to help us in networking these animals. When rescued, these animals can be sent all over the United States to approved 501(c)(3) rescue organizations and approve

d adopters. Every single animal at the shelter is at risk for euthanasia, especially when there is no space available due to shelter overcrowding. Please be sure to SHARE the stories you see here, TAG the photos, and SHARE them again. A friend of a friend may be a Lifeline for one of these Urgent shelter pets. Please keep in mind this is NOT a political forum, but a forum to network animals that are in urgent need of saving. This is an ALL volunteer page, and is NOT directly associated with the Waco Shelter or Humane Society of Central Texas.

Clooney (formerly Satin) is a sweet, staff favorite who unfortunately was injured in an incident at a foster home. Although he has previously been in the “calm dog” playgroup at the shelter, HSCT is looking for a foster or adoptive home with NO CATS where he can be kept away from other dogs while he heals. In the future, he may once again be ok with other dogs who can adjust to a blind/deaf companion. If you can help Clooney, please see the original post for contact information!

❤️‍🩹MEDICAL FOSTER NEEDED❤️‍🩹

This is Satin, also known as Satin Clooney or Clooney.

Unfortunately, Satin was in a pretty bad scuffle with a foster sibling leaving him a little torn up. Of course, for the safety of both dogs, Satin is now back at the shelter.

Also, Satin is deaf and visually impaired. He needs a special home to call his own.

We are hoping to find a foster to give him time to heal and decompress from all the things. We would suggest not introducing to any home dogs and giving him time alone. He is not cat friendly. He has previously been in playgroup and has done fine, but, like stated previously, we would suggest giving him time alone to heal. Dog fights are scary and traumatic for everyone involved!

Satin is a sweet boy and loves people. Let us know if you think your home would be a good fit for a special needs pup- even temporarily! He deserves the world and more. ❤️

CRITICALLY URGENT!

This mama and her SEVEN newborn puppies need out of the shelter ASAP, to keep the puppies from getting sick! When they have full kennels like this, it is very difficult to keep to keep pups (and mom) from being exposed to things their immune systems just can’t handle 😢 For this reason, HSCT is looking for a local foster/foster team that can commit to taking in the whole family for at least 3 WEEKS (to give time to secure other foster arrangements, if needed) or a rescue that can pull the entire group.

Mama A108765 is a smaller medium-sized dog; she and the puppies will need to be kept separate from other pets until the puppies are weaned and all are vaccinated appropriately. If you can help, please call Julie at 254-754-1454 x 7095 or stop by the shelter at 2032 Circle Rd in Waco during business hours, 12PM - 6PM M-F, 10AM - 5PM Sa, 1PM - 5PM Su.

URGENT SUPER SENIOR KITTY!

PawPaw A107202 is the LAST pet at the Waco shelter needing placement from the huge group that was confiscated last month. He’s estimated to be 13-14 years old and has been treated for coccidia, but now he is depressed refusing to eat. (Currently being syringe fed Churu treats with supplemental vitamins.)This old boy lived with approximately 45 smaller dogs and a number of cats, so it’s got to be strange to no longer have anyone familiar around 😢

PawPaw needs a committed foster or rescue experienced with senior cats who need a LOT of encouragement to eat. Additionally, he was an indoor/outdoor cat, so he’s not used to being solely indoors and to using a litter box, but he’s too fragile to be outside.

If you have the time and patience to work with this grandpa kitty, please contact Julie with the Humane Society of Central Texas at 254-754-1454 x 7095.

MARINER NEEDS YOUR HELP!
Due to lack of space for incoming dogs, MARINER A108339 is at immediate risk 😢 He’s been at the shelter since August 26 without serious interest, and things have been rough for him - he had some serious complications from his neuter surgery but has healed up now.

Unfortunately, Mariner hasn’t caught the eye of adopters or fosters. He’s 10 years old, just over 47lbs, and kind of just wants a place to hang out where no one will bother him. He’s not the kind of guy who wants to play or snuggle, but if you’d like a low maintenance companion to keep loneliness away, Mariner would like to audition for the part!

If you can help Mariner, please go by to her shelter - 2032 Circle Rd in Waco - or call 254-754-1454 ASAP! They are open until 6 PM today.

CALLING LOCAL CAT LOVERS!

The Humane Society of Central Texas is seeking volunteers to help with socializing kitties for an hour or two each week as they wait for their forever homes. Particularly needed are cat whisperers who love working with the more, um, 🌶️ spicy 🌶️ felines, to help them de-stress.

If you have not already signed up as a volunteer, you will need to take a short training class, offered at the Waco shelter, 2032 Circle Rd, on Saturdays at 8:30 AM. For more information, please call Julie at 254-754-1454 x 7095.

The kitty in the photo is not at the shelter - she’s a 🌶️ shelter alum who was adopted several years ago 😊

EMERGENCY IN WACO! The Waco regional animal shelter had opened just enough kennels (16) to give them a little breathing room for the normal expected intake today… and now they have to make room for FIFTY more, unexpected animals from a confiscation case. As the animal control facility for the county, they have no choice, AND, because confiscation cases usually are part of court cases, they will likely have to be held longer than the normal 3 day stray period. THEY NEED YOUR HELP to avoid having to euthanize dogs who were already at the shelter to make room for the newcomers.

NO ONE WANTS TO EUTHANIZE ANY OF THE CURRENT RESIDENTS — That’s why they are issuing this 🆘 EMERGENCY 🆘 call for help! See their post below for info on how you can save a life today!

We are receiving upwards of 50 animals today through a confiscate case and we need help to open up some kennels to make sure there is room for everyone coming in.

The incoming dogs will NOT be available to leave premises, which means we need to get our available dogs out of here!

Come see us until 6pm so we can make space to have the room to help these incoming pups.

Adoptions are FREE and fostering is ALWAYS free!

Our Story

Created in 2010, this page was modeled after successful urgent networking pages across the US and is focused specifically on promoting animals that are in URGENT need of adoption, foster, or rescue at the Waco Regional Shelter located at 2032 Circle Road, Waco TX. At the time of our original creation in 2010, the Waco Shelter euthanized >85% of the animals who entered the shelter, including healthy dogs/cats, animals with minor/treatable medical issues, a large number of puppies/kittens, and feral Community Cats. Additionally, euthanasia was hid from the public resulting in the vast majority of our community’s citizens believing the shelter never killed animals. Thanks to a group of educated, well-spoken, reasonable animal advocates and key City leaders who were willing to open their minds to progressive, humane animal sheltering policies, the face of Animal Welfare in Waco, TX and at our shelter has changed significantly over the years and since this page was created. Adoption rates have increased, adoption fees have been decreased to be more reasonable, the foster program has been revitalized, the veterinary staff available to help shelter animals is large, and marketing from the shelter has very much improved. But, despite all the advances, we still do not have a perfect system. As of 2018, the euthanasia rate at the Waco Regional Shelter varies between 15-20% (not including inventory). Healthy/treatable animals are still very much losing their lives - which is why this page remains. Additionally, owner reclaims are not as high as they should be due to unnecessary/outdated barriers to reclaim that need to be revised. The volunteer program is also severely lacking which means fewer animals can be saved. Our goal in Waco, TX was never to do ‘okay’. Our goal was always to SAVE THEM ALL. There is still more work to do and we need your help! Adopters, rescue organizations, transporters, and volunteers everywhere around the United States are key to networking these animals and saving lives. Please be sure to SHARE the stories you see here, TAG the photos, and SHARE them again. A friend of a friend may be a Lifeline for one of these Urgent shelter pets. Please keep in mind this is NOT a political forum, but a forum to network animals that are in urgent need of saving. This is an ALL volunteer page that pulls publicly available information for posting; we have no animals in our care. This page is NOT directly associated with the Humane Society of Central Texas or the Waco Regional Shelter.
