We certified the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort as dog-friendly; they scored our outstanding A rank, making them a good choice for dog owners visiting Carlsbad. Dogs are allowed on their bar and restaurant terraces, and they have extensive private gardens for quick calls of nature and dog walks. They provide amenities like beds and food/water bowls and can even arrange for your dog to be walked if you need them to. But that canine tax of $300 per week is far too steep, we would like to see it lowered.

We certified the Ciragan Palace Kempinski Istanbul as dog-friendly; they scored a respectable B rank, making them a decent place to stay in the city. They provide beds, food/water bowls, and have a private garden you can use for quick calls of nature, making this hotel a convenient option. However, dogs are not welcome in their bar, restaurant, or pool area, making it difficult to enjoy this hotel with your dog, and there is a weight limit of 22 pounds (10 kilos), which excludes all but the smallest dog breeds, showing a lack of canine inclusivity. The hotel charges a steep canine tax of $50.00 USD per dog, per day, which can quickly add up for longer stays, and their weight limit is 40 pounds (18 kg), which unfairly restricts medium-sized dog breeds like our founder's Labrador, calling into question their commitment to being dog-friendly. For a canine tax of €75 per night, dogs are not allowed in their bar or restaurant, and they will not let you use their garden for quick calls of nature despite there being no green space nearby. The hotel does provide basic amenities, such as dog beds and food/water bowls, but does not sell dog food, or offer dog walking services. A poor show from Sofitel.

Dogs are welcome in their bar and restaurant, and they provide dog beds and food/water bowls so you do not need to bring them with you. We certified the Mandarin Oriental, New York as dog-friendly, and they scored our failing F rank, making them a hotel to avoid for dog owners visiting the city. Dogs are not allowed in the bar or restaurant; they are confined to your room, but they are not allowed to stay in the room on their own. All of this means you cannot enjoy this hotel with your dog, and it calls into question their claim of being pet-friendly. Especially given that the hotel fails to provide basic amenities like beds, food/water bowls, dog food, or treats. Factor in a hefty $250 canine tax per stay and an absurd weight limit of just 25 pounds (11 Kilos), and you have the kind of hotel that gives the words pet-friendly a bad name. We advise dog owners to stay away from this hotel.

They provide food and water bowls, have no weight restrictions so all dogs are welcome, and charge just $10 per night. But dogs aren't allowed in their bar, restaurant, or public lounges, and they are only allowed to be in the hotel lobby and room, but only their first floor rooms are dog friendly, limiting availability at the hotel, so call ahead!

We certified the Eden Roc Cap Cana as dog-friendly, but it scored a failing F rank, making it a hotel to avoid for dog owners visiting the Dominican Republic. Dogs are not allowed in the bar or restaurant, and the weight limit is absurd at 20 pounds (9kg); meaning that only tiny dog breeds are allowed to stay. For a canine tax of $50 per day, you get a bed, bowl, and bandana, but dogs aren't allowed on their beach, they can't walk your dog for you, and if you run out of dog food, they don't sell any. We would not recommend you stay here.

First day back at work for team Roch! After a lovely holiday break we are preparing and organizing for dog friendly goodness in 2024.
