PLACED WITH CANE CORSO RESCUE - PLEASE HONOR YOUR PLEDGES OR DONATE https://canecorsorescue.org/donate/
WELL CARED FOR, AND LOVED FAMILY PET KANE, A TOTAL HANDSOME HUNK, IS RUSHED TO THE KILL LIST AS HE HAS NOT ADJUSTED AT ALL TO SHELTER ENVIRONMENT. He doesn’t do well with strangers, and protected his family from them. YET THIS BOY LIVED WITH 3 KIDS, AGES 1, 6 and 11 years old. He was relaxed and playful with them. His humans moved, and surrendered Kane to this pound that is already FULL OF ABANDONED PETS, with a pneumonia virus spreading and getting the dogs sick. Kane needs MORE time and an experienced person to make him feel safe.. He is A SMART dog who knows so many commands, not just basic ones, he knows speak, spin, side. His humans say he is well behaved when left alone at home. He was pampered by his humans but they didn’t attend to his socialization needs. This beautiful boy was their treasure, it must have been heartbreaking for them to decide on surrendering Kane to the ACC. PLEASE HELP KANE FIND HIS MIRACLE ! Please get him seen. It’s his only chance !

Medical Behavior Evaluation:
Behavior Assessment Rating: NHO
INTAKE DATE: 6/6/2022
Kane is in need of emergency placement due to behavioral concerns. Kane has not acclimated well to the shelter environment and is displaying offensive behaviors towards staff/handlers, making it difficult to house him safely. Medically, Kane is apparently healthy.
Due to the detailed behavior issues, this animal is only available for foster/adoption through one of ACC's New Hope Partners. If you are interested in adopting or fostering, please fill out the pre-screener form. This animal is not directly available for adoption through ACC and is only available by completing the pre-screener form.Adoption inquiries sent directly to ACC will not receive a response.
In his previous home, Kane was reported to be social with his family and to enjoy playing games of fetch and tug-of-war. He also enjoys playing with squeaky toys, balls, and chew bones and knows cues for sit, come, down, stay, shake/give paw, heel, spin, center, speak, and side. Kane is well-behaved when left alone at home. However, while Kane did well with his family in his home he did not do well with strangers. He was reported to bark and growl at them when he saw them and when they approached his home. At the care center, he has been highly fearful and reactive to strangers, barking, growling, showing teeth, and not allowing handling. He will need a very slow approach from new people and will need positive reinforcement behavior modification to work on his behavior with new people. He will do best in an experienced adult-only home who is prepared to be patient and very gradually acclimate him to their home and to them.
