Thank you to Proyecto Ariel, Jorge — and a plastic bag 🐾💛

Peach was found as a tiny kitten alone on a street last December by Proyecto Ariel in Nicaragua 🇳🇮. She led them on a chase, but luckily they spotted a plastic bag littering the street nearby and used it, along with some teamwork 🤝 , to scoop her up and bring her to safety.

Now 11 months old, Peach is a friendly girl who loves to ride on people’s shoulders and give love 🐱💞

Moments like the one she’s sharing with Jorge are the quiet heart of shelter life: trust rebuilt, fear replaced by comfort, and care coming full circle ♻️✨

To every shelter worker, donor, and volunteer who gives their time, patience, and love, thank you 🙏

You help us go every single day 🌎❤️

🌍🐴 One Health Day reminds us: when animals suffer, people and the planet do too.

In Nicaragua, the same conditions that put working horses at risk of infections like screwworm — lack of veterinary access, poor sanitation, and poverty — also endanger human health. Stray animals face the same reality.

At Global Strays, we go by tackling these root causes:
💉 Free spay/neuter and vet clinics that stop disease before it spreads
📚 Humane education that builds empathy and lasting change
🤝 Support for communities whose livelihoods depend on healthy animals

Because protecting one life protects us all. 💚

🐶🎃 These rescues in Colombia are dressed up for Halloween — but for too many animals, life on the streets is no treat.

Our partner shelter turns costume day into adoption day — and we love it. Because while rescue changes one life, going changes thousands.

That’s why Global Strays funds:

💛 Free spay/neuter clinics
👧 Humane education for kids
🐴 Vet care for working animals
Costumes are for a day. Compassion is forever.

Internet Cat Videos are Great. Ending Animal Suffering is Better.

The internet can make you smile—or save lives.

Around the world, the stray animal crisis is massive. One stray dog can lead to 54,816 more in just 10 years. That’s why Global Strays goes Beyond Rescue to tackle the root of the problem.

💡 Just $22 prevents tens of thousands of future strays. That’s real, exponential impact—powered by you.

On , we celebrate Sunny 💛
When she was rescued in Bogotá, she was thin, scared, and used only for breeding — never shown the love she deserved.
Thanks to a caring advocate and our local partners , Sunny is now safe, cared for, and expecting puppies of her own — this time surrounded by affection, not abuse.
Every pitbull deserves a story that ends like hers: with kindness, safety, and respect.

Happy UN Day.
It’s time for the United Nations to protect all sentient life — including animals.

Do you agree? Comment below. 👇

Right now, animals are not included in the UN agenda. We have global commitments for human rights and environmental protection — but not for the dogs, cats, horses, farm animals, and wildlife who share our planet.

Yet animal well-being is directly tied to human health, livelihoods, and the environment — a reality known as One Health, One Welfare.

That’s why we support the UN Convention on Animal Health and Protection (UNCAHP) — a treaty that would make animal welfare a global responsibility.

On a day dedicated to international cooperation,
the next step must be justice for animals. 🌍🐾

Sometimes compassion shows up in unexpected moments 💚

Gabriel, a boy in our Animal Welfare Class in Bogota, accidentally hit a stray dog when his bike brakes failed. Instead of fear or anger, he stopped to comfort the dog. He was met with a lick of forgiveness but was still shaken.

His takeaway:
💬 “Make sure your bikes and skates are in good repair… so we can protect defenseless animals.”

Teaching empathy today helps create a kinder tomorrow.

The resemblance is uncanny.

She brought her doppelgänger in to our spay and neuter clinic to make sure her baby would stay safe--but just like us they have bigger plans: A Global Pawmination that prioritizes compassion and goes Beyond Rescue to end the cycle of strays.

Every bit of fluff helps our mission spread — one heart at a time. 💕

Kira was abandoned by her family when they moved--she could have starved on the streets of Colombia but thanks to our partners she is playing on them. 🎾💛
Every run is proof that going beyond rescue works.
Celebrate with us — and help more dogs find their happy ending.

He’s not plotting world domination… just world compassion. 😉

This little fellow was brought in to our neuter clinics in Colombia-- but we know he has bigger plans--and so do we.

Xoloitzcuintli Dog with cempasúchil (marigolds) by yesi_trex

Today on Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the bonds between Indigenous communities of the Americas and their dogs — relationships that stretch back millennia.

From the Xoloitzcuintli (Xolo) of ancient Mesoamerica — believed to accompany souls to the afterlife — to the Salish woolly dogs of the Pacific Northwest, bred by Coast Salish peoples for their unique fleece, Indigenous dog lineages and partnerships hold stories of care, respect, and interdependence.

Today, we celebrate the dogs in Indigenous homes today and the stories about dogs passed through generations and the work to preserve Indigenous canine lineages.

Let us pledge to support Indigenous-led animal welfare efforts, and treat every dog, everywhere, with the dignity, respect, and love they deserve.
