Krazy Kat Lady in progress I started volunteering with Midwest Animal Rescue Service by foster kitties to help them for their fur-ever home in 2023.

This site will document the journey for each one by sharing their cuteness and their shenanigans.

December did not start as planned.
Our Resident Grandpa kitty - Roscoe- crossed the rainbow bridge while we were trying to figure out what was causing his weight to drop so fast with our vet. We were blessed to have him for 14 years.

King Teddy loves to sing around the house, but it was more prominent after losing his buddy. He has taken on the hobby of harassing Spaz and wrestling with Dutchess. His playful side is coming back as time goes on.

The snow storm brought home my college kiddo and kitty a day early. Edyn (Mira) is taking advantage of the extra space to run. She was not too sure what to think of the resident pups, let alone the grumpy Teddy. We will enjoy her company during the winter break.

Thank you for all the support this year! I have met some amazing people in this adventure and looking forward to kitty updates as they come

Happy Holidays from the Krazy Kat Lady!

Deene and Bumblebee are now at their fur-ever homes! There are a few more kitties from the same group that are available for adoption if you or a friend have been considering adding to your family. I worked with 6 from the group and they were all fantastic kitties.

With these 2 adopted, my count moves to 18 fosters finding their families. ❤️

When your brother is hogging the napping zone, you must adjust accordingly... lol

Deene and Bumblebee are doing so much better these days. They are finding new places to go and playing with the locals. Though, I do not think Teddy was impressed when he was stuck in the cat tree.

To Post or not to Post is always a question!
I had written previously that 2 kitties were not feeling too well. Ironically, an accident in the vet's lobby to check on why last week help identify the root cause. A week later, the kitties are at their full potential to cause shinanaghans! The perfect storm of spay/neutur, moving to a new foster home, and very young immune system allowed a new level of chaos in their digestive system. The MARS Vet team wore their super hero capes to help get things under control. Thank goodness for pet pop up tents so Deene and Bumblebee could be contained in the 'poo jail' while the meds did their magic.

Echo moved to his fur-ever home last Saturday and is doing well!
Benney has a meet and greet tomorrow.
Deene is scheduled in a week.

I thought I would give a preview of my workday... lots of sleeping kitties after they move things around. Bumblebee and Deene have not feeling so hot. They got to take an adventure to MARS Vet to get some magical medicine and should feel better in no time.

Echo is scheduled for a meet and greet tomorrow!

Quick play session during lunch and Echo informed the others that this was his. 😉

Day 5 and the kitties are comfortable to be out and about with the resident pets. If you are sitting, you may have 1 to 4 kitties on you.

The boys use their full bodies if they want to show affection. It gets interesting when more than one gives you headbutts at the same time with glasses on. Singing will start when they cannot see you (they are behind the couch).

Deene is still recovering from her spay. We are taking advantage of her snuggles when she looks for a comfy spot for a nap.

Have your pet carrier as part of the furniture so it is not so scary when they need to travel. This helped us out tremendously when we had kitties that did not like the carrier.

Reducing a cat’s stress at vet visits is a multi step process that requires human patience and some effort but the results are totally worth it! Because the most common mistake people make is rushing the cat through it we will post one step of the process every couple of weeks. How long it takes for your cat to feel comfortable with each step depends on your compliance with instructions and the number of negative experiences your cat has had with vet visits. (My recently adopted brother, 14 year old Sammy, is terrified of carriers. Mom has been working with him for 2 months and he no longer runs and hides from it but still hasn’t entered it)
STEP ONE: Place a carrier in an area that your cat spends a lot of time, prop the door open or remove it. Put a blanket and a couple of toys in it and several times throughout the day toss a few treats in it. In this early stage IGNORE your cat when he/she is near or in it, it is vital that your cat trust you to not force him/her into anything that is “scary”.
If your cat is free fed (has food available at all times) the process may take much longer.

Day 2 has been exciting.
The motors came out for all 4 kitties when they got attention. ❤️
We learned that shy Bumblebee is an escape artist. He has wiggled out 3 body suits so far. #4 is staying clean and in place for now. I felt like I had a new born baby with laundry again. He was not sure about the living room adventure and hid behind the blankets. It was adorable when he sat with me for tummy rubs and he made air biscuits.
Echo enjoyed the opportunity to explore and then hang out for birdie playtime. He is absolutely adorable.
Deene stayed local and took advantage of attention from both adults. She is moving around well and is the chillest kitty of the group. I am sure that will change as she heas.
Benny screamed FREEDOM!!! when Inopened the door to let them out. He tried several options to get around the baby gate. He was a little too big to crawl under, initially, but got the job done in the end. ;) He said hi to some of the resident kitties while checking out the space. Then curled up for a nap when he needed a break.
They were not sure about the pups for the first greeting. That will take some time. They need to recover first, so introductions will be slow.

Their visit with us may be short as apps are starting to come in. A big shout out to the foster mama that had them before us along with 9 other kittens. 😻😺 These kittens are very sweet and adjusted quickly to our home.
