Way to hot up here to be outside even with your own private balcony and swimming pool - "snowbear" progeny of Miss Madeline and Sealaville Shiloh Sebastian born March 2021 - desexed - so loving and gentle and looking for a 5 star perfect home.

Lots of applications but none just good enough for this precious girl. Not naughty at all just gentle and sweet and in perfect health. I am a tad cautious letting this one go because she is so sweet and gentle. Best watch dog. No barking for no reason but if she barks because someone is trying to get in my gate.

Don't care if she stays for ever but would like a human who can be with her all the time. She's just a baby bear!

Pure Bred British Bulldogs and the British Bulldog Breed Standard

We never stop learning. Found another reason to breed to the British Bulldog Breed Standard.

I wonder how many people know it's not good to breed bulldogs with massive U shaped chests. They just don't have the skeletal system (bones) to support this type of structure.

Bulldogs do not have a clavicle (shoulder bone) like humans yet many are bred to have massive chests.

Poor old Mr Sherman has developed a limp in one of his front legs. I thought he might have had an interdigital cyst but it's not. He has injured some of the soft tissue in what we would say is his shoulder area and he has sore front leg.

Naturally straight to the specialist we rely on and what's the point of $3500 CT or MRI when this sort of injury cannot be treated with surgery. The only thing they can offer is Previcox and if its not resolved regular CT guided cortisone injections into the area.

Nope, he's ten years old. We have tried non steroidals as pain relief prescribed by our vet. I have tried Previcox on two dogs and even with a proton pump inhibitor - (somac or pantoprazole) they vomited and had black stools. Black stools or Melena is a symptom of a bleeding gastrointestinal systems.

I Definately prefer meloxicam with Pantoprazole but it requires a loading dose then half the dose daily which is not sufficient to control his pain so we needed a synergistic medication.

We are doing what our vet advised 10mg/kg paracetamol 4 times a day apparently really good for animals with arthritic pain.

I have also relented from traditional medicine and Mr Sherman and I have started probiotics and conservative less invasive treatment for his limp. We have started Roship powder in food. This probiotic is apparently successful in the treatment of arthritis.

To my dismay It's really true. You are what you eat. There are some large evidenced based studies in humans connecting the microbiome of the gut to certain common diseases and conditions like diabetes, IBS, Crohn's and even Coronary Artery Disease. With a bestie who is a Microbiologist who had to interpret some of a study for me I had to concede - gut health effects everything in our body so if your microbiome is not normal all or any of your body systems can develop disease.

Also because fat bulldogs are not healthy we need to see a little more rib cage of my little mate. Mr Sherman is mortified at breakfast when he only gets one drumstick but a fat bulldog is not a healthy bulldog.

Please never ever leave your pup with a bone. If you want to put on weight you can use chicken wings but cut them in half until they can eat them safely. We don't need extra weight so we have reverted to drumsticks cut into pieces for him.

He has had raw food and goat horns all his life so he's never required any dental treatment but with age the remaining teeth are worn and there are not so many teeth left so we have to cut up his drumstick into several pieces.

Goat horns remain my favorite chew toy for baby dogs. They take a bit of work from humans as they don't naturally immediately love them but when they start to nip or chew as pups if you repeatedly replace what they are chewing with a goat horn in a short time goat horns are their chosen chew treat and they are fantastic for keeping their teeth clean.

Oh and one final thing, please........ DO NOT give any analgesia (pain relief) to a dog that is not prescribed by your vet. Non steroidal medication like Advil or ibuprofen and even paracetamol, with or without proton pump inhibitors (somac) can cause serious kidney liver and gut disorders and in extreme cases death.

H5N1 Bird Flu
Extremely virulent virus now detected in humans.
A little while ago I received a text message advising that a human has died from the H5N1 Viral Infection.
I checked it out and it appears to be true.
The virus is definitely jumping species from animals to humans
There are now 66 reported cases in Humans in the USA and
1 Death Associated with the H5N1 Bird Flu Infection in the USA - have no details as to the age or general health status of the person who contracted the virus.
At this point in time they are saying its not being transmitted person to person

Most flu epidemics effect vulnerable people such as the young the old and those with other medical conditions.

The USA have suggested caution advising people not to drink unpasteurized milk

The people in the USA with the virus have contracted it from Cattle and Poultry.

Don't know if any have been reported in Australia yet.

do not leave home and do not go to work if you have any flu or respiratory symptoms. eg: feeling unwell, cough, sore throat, runny nose

check if your vaccinations are up to date - flu vax changes every year and anyone over 60 needs additional vaccinations.

The only reliable sources of information are the World Health Organization and the Centre for Disease Control in the USA both available on the internet.

A person with severe avian influenza A(H5N1) illness ("H5N1 bird flu") has passed away.

Look at this - made me cry!

Not long before Xmas Dr Belinda Wright from Dr B's Vet Clinic Hillcrest aka Helping Paws Adoption took a mass surrender of puppy farm poodles, oodles etc in to save them.

Many groomers downed tools and immediately came to help these poor neglected dogs. I will never forget the little poodle who looked like this with nails as long as an adult hand. So long she couldn't scratch her skin underneath the matted coat.

Many of the oodles some pregnant looked exactly like this.

They are on Helping Paws Adoption page and Dr B's Vet clinic.

Please Spey your females before you sell them so they don't end up like this.
