Very happy to announce I have completed the Responsible Dog Ownership course with British College of Canine Studies to Distinction level. 🏆

This was just a short one to complete while working on my Level 4 behaviour. I have plans to continue on with other topics such as Dog Law and Canine Nutrition to keep my canine knowledge up to date and offer the best care and advice I can.

I recommend the course to any dog owner who wants to learn more, and particularly anybody who is considering working with dogs in the future but doesn't know if it's right for them. The course covers the basics of what we know of pack structure, dominance, canine communication, socialisation, common behavioural issues and solutions and more.

It's National Mutt Day! Share your photos and stories of your mixed breed with us.

Our Gorgeous Girl came to us at 8 weeks from a rescue. The mother was found stray and pregnant (but she quickly found her forever home). Her litter were all different colours, coat types and patterns. From her doggy DNA test it was obvious the previous owner was trying to make a 'designer dog' from two breeds but there was actually a third breed in the mix.

The lovely Rolo! We have been walking Rolo for a few months now and he is an absolute pleasure.

Only a few more units left until I am qualified to call myself a Canine Behaviour Practitioner! Keep your eyes open for upcoming 1-2-1 behaviour sessions with me. I have enjoyed studying for this diploma immensely and look forward to helping dogs and their owners even more.

Some of my units require working with or talking to owners about their dogs and their behaviour. If you would be interested in this, leave a comment! I have already completed some assessments and offered free advice and plans of action, but if this comes up again I can offer it to more people.

Always be mindful of the temperature outside when walking your dog. Of course size isn't everything but it is a good guideline - age, breed and health are other factors to consider. If you are unsure, do a quick Google on your dog's breed/type to find out at what temperature they should wear a coat.

If you must stay inside you can use the usual walk time to play, search for food or do some obedience training. They will love doing something new and the main aim is to keep their brains stimulated!
