Cat training: Helping 2 cats get along! ๐ฝโค๏ธ๐ฝ
This family first had Bella then they decided to adopt Ollie. Bella is not taking it so well! :-( She's stressed out from having her new brother in the home. So the humans decided to reach out to me! Cat training is a little bit harder than dog training in my eyes. I feel like they're very independent and not as easily motivated as a dog might be. They also can be very territorial! I knew that I had some work ahead of me and they did as well. The best way to get two cats to get along is by using food and play! Here you'll see we have Bella focusing on some Delectables cat paste made by @hartzpets while her brother is playing in the background! At first she's facing away from him and then we face her towards him. By having her focus on food she's not focusing on him and vice versa with him playing. She also feels protected in her cat tunnel. Of course there were other steps to get to this point but you can get the idea of it. I always say if you can get a cat to eat, play, groom themselves or sit in a relaxed position then you know you're headed in the right direction! These kitty's hoomans handled this whole thing purrfectly and I know with continuous work, things will work itself out! I'm giving this family 2 meows for a job well done! ๐ฑ๐ฑ
A couple of other ways you can get your cats to get along are listed below! And remember these are just quick tips to help you manage the situation until you can get a qualified trainer to assist you with further instructions. *Exchange the scents of the cats with one another, for ex: rub a blanket on each cat and put it in their sleeping areas
*Use an anti-anxiety supplement such as: calming treat, CBD or even a pheromone plug-in spray

The beagles are infamous for not coming back when called! Because as a working dog, they travel up ahead of you, and you would follow them so they can lead you to a particular finding! But I can assure you if you start practicing when they're young, make it fun, and practice all different ways, they will do great with it! With this particular way of practicing I'm just walking with Ravioli, then we're stopping, and when he's distracted, I call him to come. If for some reason he didn't come on the first shot then I would do a method called "reel 'em in." Set a goal, go for it, and good luck! โฌ๏ธ

Stay command:
When it comes to the stay command, before you decide to walk away and add some distance, you must first get your time down solid. It goes in this order: duration, distance and then distraction - it's called the 3D'S! Place your dog in a sit then say "stay" and your palm should be flat out facing them, then you would count to about a few seconds and then mark and reward! You're going to build your time up and when you can get up to about 20-30 seconds, your next step would be to add on a little distance by taking a couple of steps back - if your dog gets up then you moved too quickly, so start again. Once your dog masters the duration and distance, then you would add on distraction. And boom, you got it!

YOU'RE GAME IS WEAK IF YOU USE THESE TO TRAIN YOUR DOG!
If you hire a trainer or you take it upon yourself to start training your dog, and decide to harm them during the process, (even after educating yourself), with negative tools- such as shock, choke/ prong collars, force, slapping, hitting, kicking, or screaming, then your game is WEAK! Stop using lazy, outdated measures to get results, they are quick fixes! Of course a dog will listen to you if you train this way and that doesn't impress me at all!! What impresses me is taking the time and having the patience needed to train your dog in a positive manner! Using positive tools and having a positive attitude!! And you might say, "Jude, there are lots of trainers that are training this way and they are getting clients, why?" Because people usually look at training as the last resort - by the time they reach out to someone, they're so desperate and easily persuaded that a trainer can convince them to work with negative reinforcement! They can convince them that there will be quick results and it's not as bad as it looks! Negative training doesn't help build your bond, it just teaches the dog to react to you by using force or harm! It doesn't teach the dog to think for themselves!
Wouldn't you feel better about yourself and more connected to your dog if they behaved for you because they wanted to not because you made them do it? The problem is that people do not have patience anymore, they want quick fixes! Nothing's going to be quick about training a dog, it takes time. It's a skill, it's something that you have to be ready for and it's something that you have to be strong for - not weak!
