The Australian Cobberdog has been developed by a core group of foundation breeders, who have as their primary focus, the health and temperament of the dogs whilst striving toward the long term vision for the breed. Foundation breeders have made many hard decisions to ensure the health, predictability of temperament, characteristics and management requirements of their breed have been optimised. Fo

r the Australian Cobberdog, it is all working towards a canine companion that is more reliably suited to Service, Therapy and Assistance work. It's ancestors have been selected for what they were able to contribute to make the breed happen.

The Australian Cobberdog was accepted as a new breed in development in January 2012 by the Master Dog Breeders and Associates (MDBA) a worldwide breed registry.

The Australian Cobberdog, as a recognized breed, is now best understood as a breed that has it's own unique recognizable characteristics. To understand the breed you need to recognize the breed characteristics, as represented today.

The breed characteristics of the Australian Cobberdog include:

- strong human focus
- emotional warmth
- high intuition
- high intelligence
- a high aptitude for training
- sustained eye contact
- a goofy sense of humor, and a
- low shedding allergy friendly coat

We are a small breeder in eastern Kansas, raising miniature and medium Australian Cobberdogs. Jae Australian Cobberdog parents have DNA health testing completed to ensure the health of our puppies. All our dogs and puppies are our pets raised inside our loving home. They are very well socialized with people and other animals. We are on the Australian Cobberdog Breed Advisory Committee and work with the MDBA to preserve and protect the true nature, linage and genetic makeup of this great breed. “Hi!! Just wanted to say happy holidays from Fox in CT ❤️ Fox is maturing so nicely and is such an emotionally sensitive dog. Aside from being the best snuggler ever, there seems to be a recent change where if I am ever upset he comes running to me and puts both paws on either side of my head and lays his whole body on top of me. He has always been so gentle with kiddos and gently steps into their criss-cross-applesauce legs and curls up in their laps, or sits nicely in front of them for big hugs. What an amazing day and a great reminder of why we do what we do. Mike delivered 2 of Sailor & Blues amazing puppies that will be trained as service dogs. At his first glance into Sunny’s eyes, 8 week old Appa knew what to do and started doing his job❤️Australian Cobberdogs are Amazing comfort dogs! This made me cry happy tears❤️ So happy Sunny & Appa have this bond. He will make us so proud!

About the Australian Cobberdog

The Australian Cobberdog is being developed to be a non shedding, allergy friendly dog who comes in three sizes - Miniature, Medium, and Standard. The Australian Cobberdog has been recognized by the MDBA www.mdba.net.au. They are being developed as a separate breed. They do share some ancestors in common with many other breeds but are being developed as a purebred in their own right.

Key features are a unique intuition demonstrated by his deep eye to eye connection with humans, a total lack of aggression, easy going ways, and a keen intellect in a mind which soaks up learning like a sponge. He has a comical side also, with a goofy fun loving sense of humor. He loves to make you laugh!

Because of his high intelligence, the Australian Cobberdog requires early training to occupy his mind and to avoid boredom. Athletic and graceful, he excels in dog sports, but is just as content to lay by your side as he is to go for a run. If a family member is sick this dog doesn’t want to leave their side. The Australian Cobberdog is best suited for: Therapy, Medical Alert, Assistance Dog, Dog Sports, and Overall Family Companion.
