Say “hi”to Beuford, one of our first rescue pups from LA. This sweet and gentle soul instantly stole our hearts. After enduring a challenging and stressful journey, this poor guy was understandably anxious. But in a moment of quiet reassurance, one of our team members held his paw while capturing his intake photo—a small gesture that seemed to provide him with a sense of comfort and security. It was as if he knew he was finally safe.

Beuford is now settling in, surrounded by love and receiving the care he needs to heal. He’s just one of many animals whose lives are forever changed because of your kindness.

Pets In Need is teaming up with Bay Area and LA shelters to rescue and care for animals affected by the Los Angeles fires. Our team will continue working tirelessly to rescue and transport animals, as long as we have capacity, but we need your support to continue.

🐾On average, it costs $700 to provide food, medical care, and essentials for each rescued animal. For those needing extensive treatment, the cost is even higher. Your generosity makes it possible to save lives.

A message from our CEO, Laura Toller Gardner:

As we continue to witness the devastating impact of the fires in Los Angeles, our hearts go out to all those affected by this crisis. We are profoundly grateful to the first responders who are working tirelessly to protect both humans and animals during this devastating crisis. Their courage and dedication are truly heroic.

Time is critical. Pets In Need is partnering with Bay Area and LA shelters and rescues to respond swiftly for animals in need. Tomorrow, we begin our first transport of displaced animals from LA, followed by another transport arriving Thursday from the Central Valley, and a flight of dogs and cats on Friday. We will continue with transporting more animals next week, as long as we have capacity.

How can you help?

Adopt: Consider opening your heart and home to one of our shelter animals. By adopting, you not only save a life but also help us make space in the shelter for more incoming animals in need.

Donate: Every animal we rescue comes with significant costs—on average, $700 for food, medical care, spay/neuter, and other essentials for a healthy pet. For animals requiring more extensive treatment, the cost can be even higher. Your support is critical.

These animals have nowhere else to turn—your support is needed now. We are working around the clock to ensure no animal is left behind. But we can’t do this alone. The time to act is now.

🎆 New Year’s Eve is here, bringing bright lights and loud booms that can be stressful for our furry companions. If your pet is sensitive to the sound of fireworks, here’s how you can make this celebration a safe and peaceful one for them:

🏡 Create a Safe Space: Keep your pet indoors in a secure, quiet area. Close the windows and curtains to minimize the noise and flashing lights.

🎶 Soothing Sounds: Play calming music, white noise, or nature sounds to help drown out the fireworks and create a serene environment.

🐾 Comfort Items: Surround your pet with their favorite things—blankets, toys, and even an unwashed shirt that smells like you can provide comfort and reassurance.

💆‍♀️ Calming Aids: Look into calming sprays, treats, or diffusers designed for pets, and consult your vet about additional options if your pet has severe anxiety.

💡 Stay Close: If possible, be there for your pet to offer gentle reassurance. Your calm presence can help them feel safe during the noise and commotion.

Pupdate! Recently, our amazing friends Randy and Mirta hosted a heartwarming fundraiser for Pets In Need in their home, raising essential funds to support animals in need. But that’s not all—our adoptable pups, including Cody, made a special appearance, and it was love at first sight!

Now part of their family, Cody is thriving. Randy shares:
“He is quite a handful, but patience and love have paid off. He’s fully vaccinated, we work with him every day, and he gets to go on lots of walks. His cuddly nature more than makes up for the daily mischief he gets into!”
