Maizy is 6 years old (approx. DOB 11-9-18), female, 33 lbs., vetted, is or will be spayed, and micro-chipped. Maizy was witnessed being purposely abandoned at a store in Burlington. However, we strongly feel it was a cry for help as she is very well taken care of, had a jacket on, and even had her nails trimmed. She is like a baby being left on the church steps. We were fortunate to work with the PD to have her turned over to us. There was another dog seen attached to the person who left her and we would invite whoever needs help to consider contacting our inbox or emailing [email protected], in confidentiality, if we can help find that pup a loving home also.
Maizy is potty trained, low-medium energy, dog social, sensitive, adventurous, and very social with people; she loves to sleep on the bed with her humans. She of course, is a Beagle, so knowledge of the breed is helpful so she can get her breed needs to "work" her nose. Her best home will be local, have another dog/dogs, little alone time, and a large securely fenced yard would be a bonus. She will be an indoor family pet and will not be adopted to anyone thinking she'll be kept outside as a hunting dog.......we will be sure to follow-up. They were on their last moments at such a young age and were terrified at an overfull shelter, huddled together most of the time! Wally is 2 years old, male (approx. DOB 12-31-15), 57 lbs., vetted, is or will be neutered, and micro-chipped. Meet Wall-E, the adventurous and goofy pup who's all about fun! This playful boy loves tennis balls and tug toys, making playtime a blast! While he might pull a bit on the leash, his sweet and silly nature will win you over every time so get ready for some heartwarming moments together! Wally is very sweet, assessed well with other dogs, maybe cats (all cat and dog relationships are different), and loves tennis balls, tug toys, and plush squeaky toys! The staff at the shelter say Wally is sweet, adventurous, silly, happy, confident, goofy, and playful. His love language includes loving pets, yummy treats, fun toys, and playtime! Wally was so excited..........you see he had an adopter at the shelter! He waited and waited, but the staff informed him he wasn't getting adopted because the interested person didn't show up. Elliot is almost 9 years old, male (approx. DOB 12-31-15), 51 lbs., vetted, is or will be neutered, and micro-chipped. Elliot was, luckily, found tangled in the woods; he couldn't move. He was an abandoned homeless stray in SC. He was at the shelter for 51 days when we saved him; they ran out of space and he ran out of time. Elliot shares a New Year's Eve birthday with our Founder Robin! He is good with other dogs, maybe cats (all cat and dog relationships are different), and is so grateful to have a 2nd chance at being loved! Dudly is 2 years old, male (approx. DOB 1-31-22), a petite 64 lbs., vetted, is or will be neutered, and micro-chipped. Meet Dudly, your future adventure buddy! This playful and enthusiastic pup can't wait to greet you with gleeful jumps and is highly motivated by yummy treats. With a love for tennis balls, Dudly is always ready for fun! His adventurous spirit and loving nature make every moment together exciting and joyful. Get ready for a lifetime of adventure with Dudly! This handsome boy is very peopley, curious, happy, athletic, enthusiastic, playful, has lower energy, knows Sit and can catch treats, and loves a good tennis ball!
How did he end up at the shelter? Dudly was left on finder's property that he rents out then found out Dudly's owner has cancer and can no longer care for the dog. He is in the hospital and left the dog in the house. To add, his next of kin is homeless and could not care for Dudly either. After Dudly sat at the shelter for 62 days, his number was up; there was no space to continue to house him at the shelter. We could not allow Dudly's life to end knowing that his dad is fighting cancer. We knew we had to save him and asked the shelter to let his dad know that Dudly is now safe and that we will find him a loving home. Stay tuned for more information as Dudly is a new rescue!

She was a long term resident at the overcrowded shelter in SC and ran out of time. She does well with other dogs, maybe cats (wants to play but all cat and dog relationships are different), has medium+ energy, is always ready to go on an adventure. loves to run, likes toys, has been around a 5 year old human successfully, and can't wait to find her forever family!
