Little Lima Bean has been feeling pretty dang crumbly the past few days. No fever and she is still having some energy to play with Pinto and Garbanzo, but just overall feeling icky. We have them all Metro and new supplements now because they all have had p**py problems on and off after multiple rounds of dewormer and anti-protozoal treatments. Hopefully these new meds will help do the trick 🤞

I just hate when the babies don't feel good! We also had to postpone their spays today to make sure they are all healthy enough to safely have surgery. Debbie Langjahr and Sam Park have been doing a phenomenal job taking care of these little angels, even while fighting what probably feels like an uphill battle. The next step is to get a full PCR if these meds don't clear it up. After all the emergencies over the last month, we are woefully low on funds.

If you would like to donate to help cover their care, you can do so via any of the methods below.

Cab has been doing really well. He had a 3 night stay with Eddie last week to get his first few days of his GS shoppies and was loving getting 100% attention and days snuggling in bed!

Update: Dr. Munson is leaning towards it being FIP, due to his inability to get better with all the other treatments, my initial instinct that was neither solidly confirmed, nor out of the question for little Cab on Sunday. If he responds to the treatment, it will be both long and expensive. 84 days and usually around $1000 for the course of treatment plus blood work every 4 weeks.

It's been a very long 4 days. Cab ate really well when he got home Sunday night from Urgent Care but by the next afternoon, he had dropped another 28 grams and was not eating. He was headed back to Mid Cities for a recheck while I was searching for someone to advocate and approve treatments on my behalf while at work. Our friend and fellow cat lover, Mario Perez, immediately said to take him straight to the ER instead and generously offered to help pay for an ER visit, which we just do not have the funds for right now. Thankfully, too, because the vet mentioned that he was pretty confident Cab would not have survived another 24 hours without the immediate intervention. He had a fever of 105.1, up from the regular range temp of 101.1 the evening before. His fever broke overnight and he was discharged Tuesday morning and told to syringe feed, as he was still not eating on his own at the vet. He ended up eating just fine when he got home and had been playing with his siblings still yesterday evening when I went to visit and bring more supplies. After just 3 hours, he was not willing to eat, crying, sprawled out on the floor surrounded by p**p and crawling to get anywhere so he was immediately loaded back up and taken to the ER. Somehow on the drive there he was able to get a little more alert and steady on his feet, not great, but wasn't crawling. The vet recommended sub q and another Cerenia injection, thinking maybe he was just nauseous again since the previous days injection had been worn off for a few hours.

Unfortunately, the little man is not bouncing back and is down to 468g from 532g on Saturday, when he should be, if a healthy weight, closer to 800 grams at 7.5 weeks old.

We are currently back at Mid Cities to have a visit with our favorite vet, Dr. Munson, to see her thoughts. He was immediately triaged to the back as he is down bad. Laying on his side. Just overall really unwell. Waiting for word still.

We have thankfully been able to raise $231 so far but will likely need to hospitalize little man again but won't be able to do so without more help. Even with help for the initial overnight stay, we are still a few hundred dollars short between the other vet visits and supplies.

Mario Perez and I headed to the Schlotzkys in Forest Hill late last night after I dropped the kittens off at home to try to trap what I thought was a momma and her baby, as brought to my attention yesterday evening.

It turned out to be 2 mommas, and 5 kittens, and a daddy who was happier laying on the blanket outside than having any interest in any of the food set out in the traps. There are 4 kittens that appear to be 4 weeks old, just old enough to eat paté and 1 kitten probably around 6-7 weeks old. the elder baby was trapped under the drop trap with momma. The itty bitties were found in the gated area behind the kitchen that was not locked. Mario was able to snag one up by hand. I went over and got the other 3, first just one by hand and then got the last 2, one in each hand. Thankfully, I was not bitten like the last time I bare-handed a 4/5 week old kitten 😖.

The kittens are all hanging out together on a kennel. The itty bitties are 2 boys and 2 girls. Unsure what the elder one was because I couldn't check, as he was in a trap with Mom, but maybe Mario can confirm.

After a whole hour and a half of sleep, I went to pick the moms back up in their traps (Mario had to get Mom and baby separated and put mom in a regular, non transfer trap) and take them to TCAP to get spayed.

It was certainly a very very long day yesterday after 12 hours of running around saving kitties but I will say, it was a pretty successful night to pull 7 kitties from a dangerous area. We will have to go back for dad. All 8/8 kitties there were orange tabbies, which I've never seen before.

What we need now, is fosters for these little floofs. We can do all 5 together or split them 2 and 3 if needed. Happy to take any help we can get whether it's just a few weeks or 6-12 weeks to care for them through adoption. Supplies and vetting will, of course, be provided.

Update on Cab and Syrah.

We had blood work run on Cab to rule out FIP, and while not totally out of the question, the results and him not having a fever at all, was not leading anyone to believe, yes this is definitely FIP. There was, however, the appearance of a slight bulge indicating inner ear swelling on the side he is tilted to which the vet said could be a number of causes but the only way to know for sure is advanced imaging ranging from $3-$6k at a specialist just to see what's going on. He was given Prednisolone for 3 weeks and 2 more weeks of a higher dose of Clindamycin, both the standards for treating general inner ear issues. Without having the funds to do the imaging, the hope is that he will slowly get better and whatever is going on inside his ears resolves. The vet said inner ear issues could absolutely be the culprit of the neurological symptoms he is having and that the treatment wouldn't make it suddenly get better quickly, but he should be slowly getting better and definitely to bring him back if getting worse.

For Syrah, she is started on Little Remedies saline drops for her nosey posey, famciclovir for 3-4 weeks, and continuing nebulization treatments. She did not have a fever either and since she has been on antibiotics twice already, he did not think it prudent to approach with more, as the most likely factor, as usual, is probably viral, not bacterial.

The kittens had a long day of 8 hours out getting dragged all over the metroplex but were angels the entire time and all 4 eager to chow down when I finally dropped them off at home after 11pm.

We have been able to raise $163/$339 towards their vet care so far thanks to our generous donors Christina, April, and Lisa!

Since I haven't had a moment to post welcoming all of our newest kittens last week, as I planned to do, please let me introduce to everyone The Fine Wine Felines. They are about 6/7 weeks old.

We have
🐈‍⬛ Cab, which you all met last week, the blacky boy.
🩷 Rosé, the torbie girl (orange and grey tabby)
🍷 Syrah, the tortie girl
🩶 Gris, the grey tabby girl.

They have had a rough go already in such a short life.

Multiple vet visits, URI, p**py problems, and severely underweight. Their p**ps have improved a ton with treatments and they are gaining the weight they need to quickly and already feel so much better and less skinny with spiky spines in just 5 days. They still have a mild URI, despite 2 rounds of antibiotics from vets, nebulization treatments multiple times a day this week, and immunity supplement. Syrah still is the only one who doesn't seem to be improved at all with the respiratory infection. She is very congested in her sinuses. She sounds just like Moose.

27/07/2025

Update: At Dallas Animal Urgent Care instead. Wait was 3.5 hours estimated at MCAUC.

We decided to bring all of them in case they all need lab work, but just have Cab and Syrah checked in. Syrah is still very congested in her sinuses even after days of treatment for a second time. They are only about 6 weeks old and have had a rough go of things.

Headed to Mid Cities Animal Urgent Care with Cab. Will update as soon as we have some answers. He appears to have sudden neurological issues.

If you would like to donate on behalf of their care, you are able to call Dallas Animal Urgent Care directly at 972-910-2890. We are checked in under Jack of All Cats under with "Cab" and "Syrah". Have not seen a vet yet, waiting in the car.

You can also donate via any of the methods below.

Um, excuse me! Can I interest anyone in literally the cutest thing in the entire world?

Himbs name is Cab, short for Cabernet.

He will be available for pre-adoption within a couple weeks once he is all cleared. Open to pre-adopting to go home after all his vetting is completed, or for a foster-to-adopt with someone local to DFW, in which we would finalize the adoption after all his vetting is completed.

Nothing better than hearing how happy adopters are with their new babies! Sammy was a stray who had kittens outside earlier this year. She did an amazing job raising up her babies in the care of Tammy, and was finally ready to go to her furever home. She headed out on a 36 hour trek to New York on Saturday. Her new momma is so in love with her already. I mean, how could you not be? She is just the sweetest Purr Girl, Major!

Congrats sweet Sammy!

How lucky it is to have double the love (and that goes both ways!)

Today marks 1 month of the boys being in their furever home. They are so very loved and love their Momma and brother sooooooo much!

I am so grateful for all the updates on Forsling and Greer (formerly Cinder and Smoke), especially on the really tough days. I will never not want to see or get updates on our former fosters. I don't know if adopters realize how special it is to feel like we get to be a part of their journey and get updates and how much they impact, motivate, and bring light to the hard days.
