She Walks the Dogs

13 years ago today we lost Maggie. She was one of two dogs (Max was her partner in crime) that were my first dogs as an adult. We adopted them from the shelter in Lawton, OK as puppies. She was there when my kids were born, when we moved multiple times across the country or just to a new house in the same city. She and Max were our training wheels for having kids and they were loyal, loving companions. They lived to be 15 and 151/2 and they are always close to my heart! ❤️

The first picture was Maggies last sunrise before we went to the vet on a quiet Sunday morning. We were lucky enough to have a friend who had a vet practice and offered to let us come in when they were closed. I will always be grateful for that quiet time with her. The last picture was our last Christmas with her.

🦷🦷‼️🐾 $10 Tuesday for Pooter! 🐾*‼️🦷🦷

Today, we’re asking our amazing community to skip that fancy coffee or drive-through today and instead put $10 towards helping Pooter, our sweet old man in desperate need of dental work. Pooter has had a rotten abusive life for the last several years. He came to the shelter with practically no hair due to severe skin issues (allergies). After we pulled him and got him to the vet we realized just how much constant PAIN Pooter’s in. We had to have him sedated for his exam, his ears were practically swollen shut from infection and allergies, and his teeth- almost all of his teeth have exposed nerves. If you have ever had ONE tooth with a toothache you know how painful that is, now imagine every tooth in your mouth is broken, worn down and needs a root canal. That’s what Pooter is experiencing every day until we get this dental work done! He needs $1,000 for dental surgery ASAP to relieve his suffering.

🎉🎉We’re so excited for Bella- now Sadie and her new fur mama Natalie!! 🎉🎉

We met Natalie and her family at the Fishers Farmers Market a few weeks ago and it was a match from the start! Sadie now has a family that adores her, a fur brother she loves playing with, a big yard and everything a doggie could ever want! We’re so happy this girl will be so well loved 🥰

Just look how cute these little nuggets are! They are much improved from last weekend, no more coughing but still pretty goopy around the nose! Coming up on 3 weeks old this week!! The time has sure gone by quickly! This last weekend we started having eyes open more and walking with more coordination and a little more interaction between them besides sleeping. I’ll get individual photos and names posted later this week and a link for the wait list for adoption! It will be that time before we know it. 🐶🐾

🚨 **Urgent: Foster Needed for Mr. Piggy!** 🚨

You might remember Mr. Piggy—this brave boy was rescued from IACS after being brought in with gunshot wounds to his back legs. While he’s doing well with his recovery, he still needs to rest and keep his movements limited, so we’re looking for a foster home where he can be the only dog.

Piggy’s current foster is in the hospital, and we need to move him ASAP. He’s a loving, sweet boy who adores being close to his people, so he’d do best in a home without other animals or young children, just to keep things calm and stress-free during his recovery. This boy is a lover and a snuggler and his favorite place is next to you with his head in your lap 💕

Piggy is not a fan of Roombas or vacuum cleaners, so he’ll need a quiet space when those are in use.

Well I guess this was still in draft and didn’t post yesterday so better late than never!

🌟🌟Meet Tiger! 🌟🌟she is a petite 48lb, 2 year old Boxer mix. She’s crate trained, house trained, loves 🚘 car rides, has all of her shots and is ready for her forever family! 🏠

She is a favorite of everyone who has spent time with her! Loads of personality and a very sweet girl. She loves her people and loves to play. She was happy and curious meeting cats and then ignored them. She’s not afraid to set some boundaries if her doggie friends get too rowdy. She is happy playing with the kids, doggies buddies or going on a walk but she is just as happy to be your couch warmer. She does have some environmental allergies that will need consistent medication, which is available at Costco or the vets office, but other than that she is healthy!

Meet Maddie, she is a stunning pittie mix princess with the cutest ears and the most unique markings! This sweet girl has been overproducing puppies and deserves to finally know what it feels like to be a cherished family pet. 🐾🥰🏡 Although a forever home is ideal, she does need a foster until she finds her forever home. She is crate trained and house trained and the number 1 snuggle bug around! She's quiet in her crate when she has to in there.

She is a social butterfly🦋, happy to meet new people. Though she might start out a little too excited, she quickly settles down and shows off her happy, wiggly, and playful side. This girl is a pro at sitting and will gently take treats from your hand-how could you resist that?!

She absolutely loves playing with toys, though she can get a bit rowdy when she's really excited. She is a bit picky when it comes to her doggy pals-she gets overwhelmed with high-energy dogs, so a calm, laid-back friend would be ideal. And while she's not a fan of cats, Maddie would do well in a home with older kids who can match her energy and love.💕

My name is Peanut. I’m a 4-year-old Classic American Bully. I am super sweet and love to cuddle with my humans. I love people of all ages. I’m a wiggle-butt when I meet someone new or when I greet you when you come home. I love walks in the neighborhood or park and wading in the creek. I especially love meeting people on the walks and saying hello. But, I’m also happy just hanging out with my people on the sofa, or sunning myself on a nice day. I’m a pretty chill girl.

We rescued Karma with the help of a foster who only wants to help short term. So we need to find her a new foster immediately. Foster reports she’s been great! Very well behaved, playful and sweet. a Happy Dogs Life Rescue will provide all food & supplies and necessary vet care if you can open your heart and home to her as a foster. As a foster the expectation is that you will foster until a forever home is found. Consistency is important to rescue dogs. You may be asked to bring her to adoption events or drop her off so someone else can take her to adoption events.

She would be happiest as an only dog or in a rotate situation. She walks by other dogs fine and is ok with a dog on the other side of the fence but currently isn’t interested in making friends close up.

Dior had her babies very early this morning! We did lose one little boy but the other 7 are all doing very well! She is a baby herself (not even a year yet) having babies. People we HAVE to do better for our dogs! We have to do the responsible thing and get them spayed or neutered. Every shelter and rescue in the country is over flowing and we are stressed out and bending over backwards to help all of the dogs and puppies who hit a euthanasia list for whatever reason. Please do your part, please ask for help or resources if you can’t afford it. can help you!

Mama has been eating like a champ this morning to keep those babies fed. She is a great mama taking such good care of her little nuggets. I’ll do some individual pictures later one when I know she’s done for sure and everyone is settled and cleaned up.

🌈🌈🌈 it’s with a heavy and broken heart that I have to share that Butter crossed the Rainbow Bridge unexpectedly this morning🌈🌈🌈

I was so excited to see him heal from all he’d been through and thrive. He had been making good progress but then took a sudden turn last night. There were some other underlying issues that we didn’t know about until now and our regular vet and the VCA emergency vet did all they could do.

He was sweet with beautiful soulful green eyes, he had the biggest paws and I couldn’t wait to see him fill out and grow into them. We had a good last few nights sleeping in my bed, when we thought he was on the road to recovery. He was all snuggly in my bed until we rushed out the door unexpectedly this mor ing. He deserved so much more than we as humans gave him! I hope he has all the best toys, treats, and companions on the other side!! 💕💔 Run free with your big beautiful paws buddy and know that in the end you had a small army who fought for you and loved you!🐾 thank you to everyone who was part of his journey, fighting to save him and pledging for his care!

I will never understand why anyone would shoot a dog! We need to be better humans!! Mr. Piggie seems to be resilient and very sweet despite everything he’s been through.

He is doing well! He’s getting his legs cleaned up, they’re pretty swollen and getting and re-bandaged. They’ll need to stay bandaged for at least a week and he’ll need to take it easy for a few weeks. He’ll get his legs x-rays again in 4-6 weeks to see how everything has healed. He will likely have arthritis in his one rear foot where there was a lot of damage. He’s going to get some antibiotics and pain meds and should be released soon.

Thank you Ashley Kincaid Eve for picking him up and getting him to Noah's Westside Animal Hospital so he could get the care he needed. Thank you so much to the team at Noah’s. This is Butter- I picked him up for Creekside Animal Rescue Inc because no foster stepped up and we didn’t want him to be Euthanized. He is severly underweight and very week. At the vet after doing bloodwork and cytosis they are fairly certain he has Blasto which is short for blastomycosis, is a fungal infection. Dogs can contract the infection by inhaling the fungal spores, which then transform into yeast and spread throughout the body. He has it in his lungs as well as all over his skin. He will be hospitalized at the vet for at least a couple days. A BIG Thank you to all of the staff at Fall Creek Veterinary Medical Center for taking such great care of him!!

**Clinical Signs** (he had them all)
- Respiratory symptoms (coughing, difficulty breathing)
- Fever
- Weight loss
- Loss of appetite
- Lethargy
- Skin lesions or abscesses
- Eye inflammation or blindness
- Lameness

Treatment lasts for at least 6 months, and in some cases, even longer depending on the severity of the infection and the response to therapy. He will need regular vet visits to monitor progress and adjust his medication dosages as well as follow-up tests, such as urine antigen tests and chest X-rays, to assess the effectiveness of treatment.

I am taking Butter on since he’s here with me on the northside and Creekside Animal Rescue Inc. will take Mercy on. Mercy’s foster is on the westside and so is Terry/Creekside so I will be posting her donation info on Mercy’s post for any further donations to him. We are working out the difference in donations so each dog is getting the pledges meant for them.
