‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️WE MUST HAVE A FOSTER BY TOMORROW‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️

Karma’s foster can no longer keep her. She’s a very sweet girl, she loves to play with her toys, go for walks and hang out with her people. She is currently dog selective but we may be able to work on that. She would be fine in a crate and rotate situation but she MUST have a new foster by SUNDAY at the latest!! We have posted her several times with no response. Please everyone share her out to everyone you know! There is literally no space for her at my home so we have to find a safe loving spot for her to land! Let’s show Karma some love on this Swifty weekend!! (Wish it would have let me pick that song as the background music!)

Please use the link in my bio to fill out a foster application if you can help!!

Much gratitude for all of your help🙏 💕

“🚨 **Foster & Fundraiser Urgently Needed for Mr. Piggie!** 🐾

Mr. Piggie is currently being boarded, despite our previous please for a foster and so many people sharing him no one stepped up to foster him. While he’s doing great at boarding, and everyone loves this big sweet boy, we need your help to get him out of the kennel and into a loving foster home! This sweet boy has had a rough start having been shot in the legs and is facing medical bills totaling close to **$3,600**. He still needs some additional X-rays and to be neutered, and we want to ensure he gets the care he deserves.

Every dollar counts toward helping Mr. Piggie heal and find a foster home while he awaits his forever family. Can you spare a few dollars to help cover his medical costs? Or open your heart and home to foster him? Together, we can give him the second chance he deserves! He has previously gotten along with other dogs but a meet and greet would be a must. Also -Mr. piggie is NOT a fan of roomba vacuums so he would need to be crated if you use one. Other than that he is a big lover and wants to be next to you on the couch or in your favorite chair! 🆘 **Foster & Fundraiser Needed for Karma** 🆘

Meet **Karma**—a sweet, fun-loving girl who’s full of love and energy, always ready for an adventure! 🐾❤️ Karma absolutely loves her walks and will keep you smiling with her playful spirit. But right now, she needs YOUR help!

🐕 **Karma’s Story:**
Karma is looking for a new foster ASAP or a forever home where she can be the only dog, though with some training, she may be able to make doggy friends down the road! She doesn’t mind sharing a fence with other dogs, she’s just not ready for up close friends. She’s got so much love to give, and we know the perfect home is out there waiting for her. Could that be you? 🏡

💔 **Why Karma Needs Your Help:**
Karma has a cyst on her chest that needs to be removed as soon as possible. The surgery will cost approximately **$2,400 -$2,800**, and we’re reaching out to our amazing community to help raise the funds to get Karma the care she needs! We are still a fairly new rescue and haven’t done a lot of fundraising to build up our medical funds so we’re just posting individual dogs and needs for now. We have some great things coming soon though!

Here’s how you can help:

🐾 **Donate**: Every dollar counts! Whether it’s $5 or $50, your donation will go directly toward Karma’s surgery and recovery.

💖 **Can’t foster or donate?** Please share this post! The more eyes we get on Karma’s story, the faster we can help her get the care and home she needs.

25/09/2024

Everyone should read this post and then picture using a shock collar on your children every time they misbehave, don’t listen, purposely do exactly what you just told them not to do-does that seem right?!? Seems crazy right? So why would you do it to your dog? Just like children they need our guidance and positive reinforcement to do the right things. Just like we have to teach our children with love, patience and kindness, we must also teach our dogs that way.

I WILL NEVER STOP HONORING HIS VOICE

Jackson was a very handsome two year old Aussie that was purchased from a professional breeder.
He was a very shy, insecure, fearful pup that had no self confidence.
His family hired a trainer that thought it best to place a shock collar (“e-collar”) on him at the young age of 6 months old to help train Jackson.
Jackson’s family continued the use of the shock collar (“e-collar”) for obedience work as well for behaviors the family thought warranted getting a shock.
Jackson’s behavior started to decline as he became fearful and reactive toward family members, other dogs, bikers, runners, and strangers coming into the home.
Jackson’s behavior became more intense and more frequent the more he was shocked.
By the age of 2 years old,
Jackson had bitten 10 different people. Five of the bites were his own family members.
I was called by the family’s attorney who asked if I would evaluate Jackson and help determine if I felt he could be rehabilitated.
I agreed to try to help Jackson under the condition that I was given a full and honest account of the first two years of Jackson’s life.
When I met Jackson’s family, I asked them when the last time was that Jackson went 24 hours without being shocked.
The answer that came sent me to my knees.
They stated “Jackson has never gone 24 hours without getting shocked since the day he was first introduced to the collar.”
I asked them what they were shocking him for and they said “everything!”
I asked them to be more specific and this was their reply.
“If he doesn’t listen. If he refuses to obey. If he barks at the deer. If he jumps on us or anyone else. If he digs.”
I got the point and quickly interrupted with, “So…basically everything!”
The family then stated that they did not know if they could ever trust him again and were considering their options.
A few weeks passed and then I received a very disturbing text.
This was the text:
“I’m guessing that you have not come up with any re-homing options for Jackson. We have set his euthanasia appointment for today in our home at 1:00. Just wanted you to know.”
By the time I read that text it was 11:30. I called the family immediately and told them to call it off and that I would come get him.
They obliged and signed over Jackson’s ownership to me.
For a few days he seemed joyful, free of fear, and was enjoying his time with us and our pack.
But then the day came where I saw it. I saw the all too familiar pupil dilation.
The constant pain and fear Jackson suffered for so long and at such a young age caused his body to try to protect itself. He was suffering severe PTSD and was thrown into full blown panic attacks. Uncontrollable shaking, lunging, and barking.
He was so fearful of being shocked that it was as if he was neurologically unsound.

One night, Roger was petting him without using direct eye contact. When Roger’s hand went from rubbing his chest to petting his neck, Jackson snapped and got Roger pretty good on the hand.
A few mornings after that, Jackson tried to get between one of our foster dogs and one of our pack members while they were playing. Let’s just say, Jackson got the raw end of that the deal.
I knew his ear was hurt but I didn’t see blood and he would not let me get near it.
Thankfully he was getting a dental and x-rays that day so I waited to let them check it out under anesthesia. Thank god they were able to get his ear cleaned and stitched up without him knowing a thing. The vet needed to remove a few teeth and the x-rays showed nothing of significance.
I had to rule out all things that might be causing
Jackson pain or discomfort.
In the time we had Jackson, he would react fearfully when touching his neck or rear. He was fine if you would touch his chest or face. He would even give kisses on occasion.
I wanted to help Jackson if rehabilitation was at all possible. Not gonna lie, I had my doubts.
Jackson was doing very well with us for about a month. He was loving walks with our pack, the mental stimulation,
the outings in the car, and the structured calm consistent environment we provided.
Then, in the blink of an eye, the extent of the damage from the shock collar (“e-collar”) was revealed.
It was just like any other morning. I was feeding the dogs breakfast and Jackson was in the same crate he was always in during meal time.
I got to his crate, and went to open it. Before I was able to unlatch it, Jackson lunged so hard at the door to the crate that I fell back and dropped the contents of his bowl on the carpet.
His pupils were fixed and dilated. He was barking and growling with tremendous fervor that I could not get near him.
This went on for over 10 minutes. All I could think of to get him to calm down was to leave the room.
That did work until Roger or I would walk back in the room toward his crate, then the rage would start again with extreme intensity.
After several hours and a few more attempts it was clear that something had snapped inside his brain.
We called our vet who was already familiar with Jackson and his history.
He suggested giving him a tranquilizer to take the edge off so we could bring him in.
After their examination and observing the videos we shared, everyone came to the same conclusion. Jackson sustained too much exposure to being shocked. Jackson was at such a young age when he was first exposed to the shock collar, (“e-collar”) his still developing brain could not handle the impact.
It was determined that Jackson’s neurological state was forever changed. The responsible and humane thing to do was to give Jackson the peace and freedom he deserved.
I will never forget that day.
Once the drug was given, Jackson could finally relax. I was able to lay with him while we just looked into each other’s eyes. When it was time to administer the final injection, I couldn’t hold back the tears any longer.
You know when you try to stifle a deep profound cry and your throat starts to ache……me too and it was awful. My heart broke in that moment for Jackson and his senseless suffering. 💔
To the irresponsible trainer who first introduced the shock collar (“e-collar”) to Jackson, and to the family who continued the use and abuse, “ I made a promise to Jackson as I was laying with him and watching him take his final breaths. I told him that I would never stop educating people about the dangers of shock collars (“e-collars”) and how sorry I was that he had to suffer due to their ignorance.”

Shock Collars (e-collars) are now banned in the following countries:

England: Banned shock collars in 2019.France: The French Assemblée Nationale voted to ban electric pet collars in early 2023. Germany: Banned shock collars in 2006.Norway: Banned shock collars in 2018.Sweden: Banned shock collars in 2020.Wales: Banned shock collars in 2010.Austria: Banned shock collars in 2019.
Denmark: Banned shock collars in 2019.Finland: Banned shock collars in 2021.Iceland: Banned shock collars in 2021.Slovenia: Banned shock collars in 2023.
Quebec: Banned shock collars in Canada in 2014.New South Wales, South Australia, and the Australian Capital Territory: Banned shock collars in Australia in 1995.

Take a good hard look at the articles and studies below to see why there is currently a massive wave of dog behavior professionals and advocates joining forces.
It’s time to shine a bright light on the use of archaic methods that cause dogs pain, fear, uncertainty, distrust, ptsd, and other psychological and neurological issues.

🎉🎉 **Chance is on a Home Trial!** 🎉🎉

Chance hasn’t gotten much time in the spotlight, but now is his moment! 🐾 This sweet boy was found on the side of the road at just 7 weeks old, battling mange, covered in scabs, smelly, and completely hairless. But despite it all, he was bursting with love! 💕 A kind friend of one of our adopters took him to the vet for treatment and reached out to us, asking if we could give him a chance at a better life.

Fast forward to today—Chance is now 13 weeks old and thriving! He’s incredibly well-behaved for a puppy, sitting nicely, and is gentle and observant around children. He gets along great with other dogs and even cats. 🐶🐱 We had an amazing meet and greet with his potential family last night, and he was a star! They have a 3-year-old little boy, and Chance was playful yet respectful, with the perfect mix of puppy energy and calm observance. He took everything in stride, unphased by the new environment.

We’re beyond excited that Chance is doing a home trial with this wonderful family! We feel confident he’s found his forever home, but as always, we’ll wait for the trial period to wrap up before celebrating fully. Home trials are such an important part of our rescue’s adoption process. It allows families to see how a dog fits into their lives, schedules, and homes. Sometimes a dog and family are perfect on their own but not the right match together, and this trial period lets everyone make sure it’s the best fit—without the guilt of feeling like they’re “returning” a dog.

Fingers crossed for Chance! 🐾💛

🎉 **Zeus has found his forever home!** 🎉

After countless trips to the farmers market, where Zeus soaked up love and attention from everyone he met, he finally found his perfect match! So many people commented on how sweet, gentle, and well-behaved he was, yet very few applications came through. He went on a 2 home trials with amazing families, but it just wasn’t the right fit for one reason or another-no fault of his. Sometimes what’s meant for you takes a little more time to show up! It’s a lesson for all of us- wait for what’s meant for you! 💕🐾

But now, it’s official! Zeus has found his forever home with the amazing Adamson family, who have 5 kids ranging from 3 to 17 years old. Zeus loves kids, and everywhere we went, he’d pull me toward them with gentle excitement! Now, he’s surrounded by his favorite humans every day, following them and keeping watch. ❤️

Thank you, Adamson family, for opening your hearts and home to Zeus. We couldn’t be happier for him, and we know he’ll be living his best happy dog life with you all! 🐾 🐾

16/09/2024

This is what pet ownership and commitment should look like! You don’t get a new job, or move or whatever the excuse is, without taking your whole family with you and that includes the pet you made a commitment to when you got them. Dogs and cats are not conveint disposable things.

I was a single mom with 3 dogs when I first moved to Indy from California back in the early 2000’s. That was after I moved from Oklahoma to California with them. It never occurred to me that I wouldn’t bring them with me. It never occurred to me to try to rent a place that didn’t accept dogs and it was a lot harder back then but the right place that allowed them always showed up. More places than ever before accept animals when you are renting or leasing now. There really is no excuse. When times were tough and some people told me “you just need to get rid of those dogs” and you would save a lot of money, that made me mad- it’s ridiculous to tell someone that. It’s like saying get rid of your kids and life will be a lot less of a hassle.

If you make a commitment to an animal, they count on you to take care of them and keep them safe no matter what the circumstances are. Kudos to this kid for understanding the assignment and taking the harder road to keep that commitment to the dog he loved and raised!

Be better humans! The streets are overflowing with lost dogs, stray dogs, people breeding dogs irresponsibly and people just letting dogs loose or leaving them behind because they don’t want them anymore. Shelters are full, rescues are full, there aren’t enough fosters to help all of these dogs. If everyone can do their small part by fostering if you can, donating if you can, sharing posts for dogs who are lost or need homes, getting your dogs spayed/neutered, socialize your dog so they have less behavioral issues (anxiety, reactivity, fear, etc.) Your dog needs to leave your house regularly, otherwise your home and your yard just become a larger version of a cage. How would you feel if you were locked in and could never leave your home? You could only watch the world through your windows? Take them out to see & experience the world!

"It's hard, you know sleeping outside, getting eaten up by ants, spiders, getting stung by a bee," said Samuel Haymon.

Spay & Neuter day for Ms. Maddie and Spanky! He’s in the crate behind her covered up. 🐕

It’s so important to spay & neuter your dogs! Rescues and shelters are overwhelmed and there are so many free and lost dogs online. We don’t need anymore oops litters, we don’t need anymore people breeding for a quick buck. If you need help there are resources in your area like and their program where they will help pay to get your dog spayed or neutered.

Shelters and rescues are all in desperate need of FOSTERS! If you can open your home to a dogs even for a short time you are helping more than you know. A Happy Dogs Life currently has 10 dogs in need of fosters. All are kid, cat and other dog friendly. Rescues will pay for supplies and any vet care needed for dogs in foster care. Our rescue provides behavioral support for all dogs that are part of our rescue whether in foster or adopted from us.
