The oldest trees in the world. An inspiring trip. Dense wood, slow growing. Low sugar content and density make it harder for pests to infiltrate. There's one that's been dead on the ground for 4000 years and another that is 4700 years old, and still alive. Glad we finally made this trip to see the Ancient Bristlecones Pine Forest.

It's been quiet on the Suburban Food Farm feed for a while...I've been traveling to learn and do some work in northern CA. This is a historical homestead near Mendocino, that predates the current label of permaculture. They've got apple trees from the early 1900s, vegetable beds, greenhouses, chickens, cows, and onsite lumber production. An inspiring place where I hope to keep tabs on in the years to come.
