Sometimes things happen for a reason. I didn’t plan for Luna to get pregnant. I didn’t even know she was in heat. But at 3 am on October 21st a Blue Tick Hound came calling. Fast forward 63 days…. Puppies are due any time. I have no expectations on what to expect from this mix. They could look like anything! What I do know is that despite me being unhappy about this (at the beginning) this is a blessing. While I feel the pain of missing my son, I have new lives about to grace this home. (5 of which haves families eagerly awaiting their arrival). Wishing you the merriest Christmas you can have. I’ll be here waiting for my Christmas miracle puppies.

Edit: My friend has another litter is due anytime. Mom is 1/3 heeler 1/3 plott 1/3 pit with a pure Prynees dad. If you mess out on Lunas pups, there’s more to choose from! Pictures will follow when they are born!

Oden demonstrating what he’s learned. The video does not show that I did tell him to “come”. I’m so proud of this guy! Josie (also show) was rescued in January. She is a “Rez” dog and part ferrel. Despite that, she is responding to training well. She’s even decided to sit, all the way up, on her own. I’m confidentwith continued work she will be amazing. I have decided to bring 2 female GSD pups into the mix. This completes GSD Team 6. I have committed to training the team at a “Bert” level of excellence. Once the team is at a point in their training to my satisfaction, I plan to get “a” rescue dog that will be trained as a service dog. Jasper, my service dog, has done so much for me. I would like to share that experience with other vets. Service dogs can cost $5k on the low end or more than $25k. That simply is not possible for most vets. With our recent pullout of Afghanistan (I don’t care what your political views are) we will have many more vets in need. Doing this is not just to help others. For me to succeed in training these pups I must regain my military bearing. You know, that thing I had before the trauma, before tragedy. I must embrace my Sisu and move forward.
