Burrage Vet Services was established in 2002 by Dr. Pat Burrage who moved to the area to take over the existing large animal practice in Bluffton. The large animal component of the practice includes beef, equine, sheep, and the alternative livestock ( elk and bison)
With all the talk of influenza and strangles going around we want to remind you to keep your horse friends vaccinated. We offer many different types of vaccines at the clinic. If your looking to get a Coggins test done, allow 7-10 business days for completion. Coggins test are valid for 6 months and health certificates are valid for 30 days from Clients visit. A health certificate is needed to cross the border 🐴😀

Osteoarthritis is a common condition in dogs and cats, representing age-associated damage to cartilage and surrounding bone due to repetitive stress on the structures. Classic signs include lameness or limping, pain when moving joints or handling limbs, and difficulty standing up from lying down.

Just a reminder with Easter coming up this weekend and Mother’s Day rapidly approaching, Lily flowers are beautiful but VERY toxic to your cats.
Sometimes our cats like to taste flowers… what you may not know is that every part of the lily is toxic to cats (pollen, petals, leaves, stems, and even the water from the vase!).
Lily’s cause acute kidney failure in cats within 12-96 hours. Signs can develop within 2 hours of ingestion.
Some safer flowers are babies breath, carnations, daisies, hyacinth, iris, roses, orchids and snapdragons.
One of our former vet students, Jessica joined us last week to do some injections on her horses and Dr. Jas’ horses. It was so nice to see her again!

Betty loves her post surgery gear! We recommend all of our routine spays and neuters go home with a cone or pair of pyjamas to keep them from licking their surgical site. This makes the healing process a lot easier and also helps to prevent infection or any complications. Our pyjamas and cones come in a variety of sizes to fit your pets needs after surgery!
