There’s an auburn star shining bright in tonight’s sky as dear Milo crossed the rainbow bridge earlier today after only recently being diagnosed with Lymphoma 😥🌟🌈 Milo joined the pack in November 2020 and has been the best buddy to many of the other dogs with his love of water & squirrel chasing (although his little legs weren’t quite cut out for that). Sweet Milo you will be missed terribly by us all 💔 but I’ll see you in the forest every day, somewhere in the shadows & hiding just around the next corner, fly high gorgeous boy 🧡 until we meet again 🥰 Thoughts are with Paula & John Jarvis…I hope you can feel a big Country Canines family hug just for you guys tonight xx

Shared from another dog walker’s page, but such an accurate description of a career that most think is a ‘cushy little number’ 🙄 It’s far from that….but one I feel so very fortunate to be able to do 🥰🐶

Secrets of a Dog Walker

1. It's a lifestyle, not just a job. If you're in it for the money you've made a big mistake because a) you're never going to be rich, end of story; and b) you won't survive your first winter if that's your only motivation. We see these people come and go from time to time.

2. We talk to each other more than you might think. About the best walking boots, what clothing we are wearing for today's weather, our financial struggles, the traffic, dodgy men in the woods, fallen trees, etc. It's a lonely job but we have each other's backs from a distance.

3. We don't physically have eyes in the backs of our heads but we know so well the sound of every jingle of every ID tag, and every dog's individual footfall on the ground behind us, we may as well have.

4. We can't physically see round corners either, but we know so well each leading dog's body language in reaction to an oncoming person and/or dog that we may as well be able to.

5. We hear "Are they all yours?!" and "Wow you've got your hands full" at least twice a day, but we always smile and say "They keep me on my toes". Every. Single. Time.

6. It actually breaks our heart when a dog moves out of our area, and we thoroughly investigate our replacement for our own peace of mind, even if the client hasn't asked us to.

7. If you peel back a few layers of clothing (depending on the season) you will find bruises, scratches and scrapes covering the whole of our bodies. Don't bother asking where they came from, we have no idea.

8. If you see a dog walker looking vaguely presentable on a weekday, you should send help, something is not right.

9. We love our clients' dogs as we do our own and will sometimes lie awake at night worrying about their injuries, illnesses, and behaviour problems. We can't help it after spending so much time with them.

10. Despite the financial uncertainty, the harsh winters, the blood, sweat and tears, it really is the best job in the world 🥰

***Awareness Post***

We've had two requests to search for dogs recently. Sadly they've drowned and at this time of year they have resurfaced before we could get there, leaving their owners with a traumatic task of recovering them.

There are a number of breeds that CANT SWIM or are POOR SWIMMERS. They can sink very quickly and with best efforts to save them it is often not possible.

You rarely get a second chance with water.

Your dog may never have shown an interest in water, or may just paddle. But dogs are instinct reactive and it only takes one accident.

Please don't take the risk. Please keep breeds that are known to be poor swimmers on a lead near water. At least then you have a chance of saving them.

Some of the breeds most known that can't swim/poor swimmers and most at risk are...

• French Bulldogs
• English Bulldogs
• Pocket Bully's
• Pugs
• Dachshunds
• Boxers
• Shih Tzu's
• Basset Hounds
• Corgi's
• Maltese

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend 😎
With the temperature hitting 27° Tuesday & Wednesday this week as always your dogs safety & comfort are of the highest importance to me, therefore I’m bringing walks on those days forward an hour earlier to try to avoid being out at the hottest time of the day. We will be doing less walking but more paddling & making the most of the streams in the shady forest. The van has aircon & plenty of cool water onboard for drinking & even a cool shower for a hose down after the walk. I hope that’s ok with everyone, please message me to discuss if not. Many thanks & stay cool 😎 x
