Learn how to work with nature and grow a thriving, successful garden (even without a green thumb!).
We've got a series of 2-hour workshops happening at the Fresh City Farm through the end of June where you'll learn about regenerative agriculture techniques, how they're saving the planet, and how they can be applied to your own food garden at home.
These workshops will be held mostly in a casual classroom format with demonstrations. There may be some hands-on components, and we will be at the farm so a hat, gloves, water and snacks are recommended.
$45 plus tax per person. There are some sliding-scale tickets available if you aren't able to cover the whole fee. Contact: [email protected]

Earthworms scaling the greenhouse 😅.
We welcome these little friends around the farm because they play a super important role in soil health by breaking down organic matter, aerating the soil, improving its structure, and increasing nutrient availability for plants. Their activity also encourages beneficial microbial populations, further enriching the soil ecosystem. The real MVPs!

Don’t miss it. 🧑🌾🌱
Going under cover 🤓 🧑🌾
This was our last week for planting outside this season and we planted mostly arugula, radish and spinach, which are all very cold tolerant.
We tucked them in nicely under the row cover pictured here to keep them warm and encourage their growth!
Remember that new planting method we’re trialling?
We also used it to plant some head lettuce, and look at how well it’s turned out! 🫶🧑🌾💚

Ever wondered how long you can keep meat? Well, here are our recommended time frames for three popular protein choices: salmon, chicken, and beef.
Why not save and repurpose your glass jars from our zero waste bulk goods, salad jars and meal jars? One great use for them is to freeze fruit. Keep your berries from going off by storing them in the freezer - they're perfect for smoothie-making. What do you use your jars for? FYI, we also accept them back! 😉
Eating well doesn't always have to be inconvenient. You can have both! There are so many simple one pan meal ideas that take less than 30 minutes from start to finish, like this sheet pan roasted chicken, cauliflower and corn, turned into a great salad.

Want your business to be the top-listed Pet Store/pet Service?
Fresh City, founded in 2011 by Ran Goel, is a city farm and retailer of farm-fresh, organic produce and prepared food. Each day we make locally and organically sourced chef-inspired meals, salads, snacks and breakfasts from scratch. In late 2018 we acquired Mabel’s Bakery, a popular bakery in Toronto, producing artisan breads and pastries. Shortly after, in early 2019, we acquired The Healthy Butcher, a pioneer in organic and 100% grass-fed beef. We farm in Downsview Park as well as at Baka on Highway 427, and we have eight retail locations between our three brands. Fresh City delivers straight to our customers’ doors or to pick-up locations throughout the Greater Toronto Area. By bringing makers and eaters together, we are changing how people think about food.
