Pit Bulls of the Baldwin Park Shelter Dedicated to increasing adoptions and rescues of awesome bully breed dogs at the Baldwin Park shelter

This page specifically focuses on the bully breeds, especially pit bulls, from the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center. We hope that through education and exposure, pit bulls will no longer be discriminated against and will have the same chance of adoption as other dogs. Dogs featured for adoption on this page are available at the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center, unless noted otherwise on their listin

g. The Baldwin Park Animal Care Center is open for adoptions 7 days a week by appointment only at 4275 Elton Street, Baldwin Park, California 91706. Hours are Monday-Thursday 12-7 and Friday-Sunday 10-5, closed state holidays. For 24-hour information, contact the Call Center at 626-962-3577. This page is managed by volunteers from United Hope for Animals, a 501c3 nonprofit rescue based in Sierra Madre, CA, and Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control volunteers who are committed to promoting the bully breed dogs at the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center through fantastic inside photos, eye opening descriptions, and dynamic videos. An intake photo at the animal shelter tells you very little about the animal's behavior, personality, training, size, and temperament. It is our goal to show the public as much information as we can gather about individual dogs. This page is not affiliated with the page "Friends of the Baldwin Park Shelter." We include on this page dogs who are pit bulls and pit bull mixes, as well as dogs who may be or have been mistaken for these mixes.

🚨 Meet Maude . She is beyond urgent 🚨 and needs out STAT! She is so special, she is a "helper" dog at the shelter. She gets along and plays so well with other dogs, staff uses her to help other dogs to socialize. She is a 3 yr. old pittie and unfortunately I don't have better photos or video of her, she seems to not have been shared on social media at all, which means no one knows she is at the shelter waiting for a home! She'll be great with other large dogs and children over 8 yrs. Please SHARE, or better yet, make an appointment to go meet Maude!

🚨 Pretty Harley with her cute party ears has been given her 72-hour notice and is URGENT. 🚨 What this means is that any time after March 18 she can be euthanized at shelter with no further notice. She is only 1 1/2 yrs. old — just a baby. Recommended home with children at least middle-school age and with calm dogs only. Please SHARE / RESCUE / ADOPT / FOSTER.

UPDATE!! RESCUED 3/10/22 by Outta the Cage!! 🥳🥳🥳
Sweet, well-mannered Thomas is a volunteer favorite and beyond URGENT. The shelter sent out second rescue plea for him today. He's been at shelter more than 60 days and depressed in his kennel, but SO happy when taken out to play yard. He is perfect combo of sweet and well-behaved mixed with playful energy. Definitely house-broken which is great for adopters/fosters, but heartbreaking for poor Thomas not getting out of his kennel often and holding it for extended periods because he's such a good boy. He's small, only 54 lbs. and is only 4 yrs. old. Please SHARE/ADOPT/FOSTER/RESCUE this wonderful soul.

Kicking off the rebirth of this page with several sweethearts currently at Baldwin Park Animal Care Center in need of rescue/adoption. Nani (Christmas jammies), Mia (pink jacket), Molly (red plaid) and Miska (green plaid). They are all seniors and the other volunteers and I have spent time with them and can attest they are the sweetest peas.

Some quick background on this page. It is run by several long-time volunteers at Baldwin Park Animal Care Center. We all have adopted rescue pitties ourselves and getting the others into loving homes is a mission close to all of our hearts. We know all too well these "loveabulls" are the hardest pets to get rescued/adopted and the most in need. Please help by sharing our posts to get these sweet angels seen as the shelter is open by appointment only since Covid. All info to contact/schedule appointment/adopt/rescue is here:

Killed 7/8/21

We need a MIRACLE for our dear friend Aboo! Aboo has been designated available to rescue groups only because he has struggled in his social interactions with dogs at the shelter. His former guardian tells us he lived with another dog happily and was a regular at dog beach, so he may just need a less stressful environnent or a certain type of doggie pal. Aboo is a GOOD DOG--see letter from his former guardian, housebroken, and who knows several obedience skills. He deserves another chance. PLEASE, SHARE and TAG for foster and RESCUE.

Aboo is at the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center. LA DACC-approved rescue organizations should contact [email protected] for more information or to arrange rescue.
Aboo is a kissy and fun-loving 4-year-old neutered male ginger Pit Bull mix whose former guardian surrendered him to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on 3/7/21 because of housing issues. His former guardian tells us that Aboo is housebroken, friendly with other dogs (he lived with a senior dog in his former home and was a regular at the dog beach), and sociable with all people, including children (although as far as we know, he has not lived with kids). He knows how to sit and "settle" on command. His favorite things include soft blankets for cuddling up in, getting his belly rubbed, and eating scrambled eggs with whipped cream. He is a great walking and hiking buddy, and would relish being your sidekick for daily outings. Aboo is sensitive to loud noises like fireworks; he has a history of panicking when exposed to these kinds of sounds, so his forever home should talk to their veterinarian upon adoption about using pharmaceuticals or other strategies to help stay calmer during events like July 4th and Chinese New Year. This kind of reaction to noise is very common among dogs, and just needs a little planning to manage. Through no fault of his own, Aboo has been returned to this shelter three times that we know of. What he deserves now is a forever home, one that is secure, loving, and eager to give him the stability he craves. Aboo is a born comedian who makes everyone who meets him laugh, and he will bring years of entertainment and devotion to whomever is lucky enough to bring him home.

We are super sad that one of our favorite pibbles, Aboo, has been returned to the shelter. His former guardian, who adores him, has been dealing with pandemic-related housing problems and had to give him up. Aboo is a GREAT dog--funny, affectionate, and good with dogs. Aboo's favorite activities include going to dog beach, cuddling, He will be a fantastic best friend to someone seeking an active and affectionate canine companion, and we think would especially enjoy living in a suburban environment where he can join his new human for walks around the neighborhood and other fun outings. Aboo is at the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center, Baldwin Park, CA; email [email protected],gov to make an appointment to meet him. Please help us find Aboo a secure, loving forever home by SHARING!

PLEASE don’t forget to check the website of our Available for Adoption/Rescue Pit Bulls & Pit Mixes! Our Volunteers are saddened that we still aren’t able to spend time with and network the dogs at Baldwin Park Shelter. 😩 This pandemic has been tough on everyone and we don’t want these Pitties to be forgotten. They are always in need of the public to adopt and Reputable Rescue Groups to step up for them! Hopefully the LA County Shelters will be open to the public sooner than later. 🙏 Until then... check out the website and make an appointment to meet your “New Best Friend!!” 💙🐶
