Guys, I’m exhausted. I have been talking to people and reviewing applications constantly for two days. If you are serious and want to foster a dog, text me at 317-531-3799 after you fill out the Foster application.
I need solid fosters who aren’t going to give up when things get tough. I’ll truly help you through any situation but you have to be patient, teachable and dependable. I’m taking care of a million things already, I don’t want to add to it by having to do what you said you’d do.

Fee things Fosters, please read!

1. Fostering is hard. I mean, you’re taking in an animal from death row or off of the streets where they literally had no love or attention and all the energy they have is pint up inside of them. I need solid strong people who aren't going to cave when things get tough. I am here to hold your hand and walk you through the entire process. I will come to your home and help you with introducing animals to each other if needed. But these guys need you until a forever home is found. Its a commitment and the most difficult part about rescue. Saving them and getting them out of the shelter is easy. Its what happens next that's most important.
2. Send lots of Freedom ride photos
3. Vacations or breaks!! I need to know ASAP. Please remind me one month in advance. Would prefer a 6 month notice. I work quick and diligently to find these guys their forever homes, so it is very rare that you will have them that long, but it is necessary that I know in advance. (List vacations / days off below)
4. Friend request/ shout out to help other animals
5. Take photos or scan paperwork and send me a copy to [email protected] with animals name in memo, please.
6. I’m sure you’ve done an application but please text me at 317-531-3799 with your name and address. Please include major cross streets/city with your location.
7. If the animal needs a surgery other than to be fixed, it will be done in Franklin. Otherwise, Vaccines and spay/neuter will be done in Brownsburg? Is that okay?
8. Are you able to crate and rotate the animal with other animals living in the home? Shelter animals need at very least several days of decompression but I prefer 2 full weeks. In this time you should pick up all decal matter and kinda quarantine the animal to a different part of the outdoors than where all the other animals go. I’d again recommend this for two weeks. Sicknesses and cross contamination only leads to more medical bills. If I feel you’re being negligent, I will refuse to pay medical. Please take proper precautions! Plus in the two weeks time, this is time to focus on getting them healthy and regulated and to the vet to be fixed. (I’ll make and pay for the appointment to best work with your schedule) Animals really should not be introduced until they’re fixed anyway.
9. In the first week, Give me an update on stool quality, water intake and food intake.
10. Do you volunteer for any other organizations and if so, who? Do you attend events with these organizations?
11. Dog food selection is important! Please discuss this with me. I stick to one or two brands. Dogs who are underweight are a little different but it’s important that I know about anything they’re ingesting in case something comes up healthwise. This will help me to decide how to move forward.
12. If the animal came with Medication(s) from the shelter, Stop meds immediately.
13. Use the crate! Protect their stomachs and your stuff!
14. Please update me directly with photos and updates. New photos are exciting for followers to see and help to get them adopted. Please don’t post these updates in the comments.
15. I’ll send supplies which include dog food, high quality milk bones, training treats, toys, bully sticks, chew toys, collar, harness and leash along with a tag for them with my number on it just in case and of course all vet care. I typically not include things like dog beds, DNA tests, boarding while you’re on vacation (you would need to make those arrangements if a vacation has to be taken), dog bowls.
16. No name changing please. I like for all the paperwork to match the adoption application. If the owners want to change the name once they adopt and keep the animal forever, they can, but until then I like to keep name the same.
17. Pick up the p**p!! If your personal animals get sick I usually help with getting them treated but for obvious reasons I avoid that.
18. Don’t switch food without alerting me. I send/feed one specific food for several reasons. To avoid diarrhea outside of the initial stress/issues from leaving the Shelter. Its not fun to try picking up diarrhea. Easier for me to determine health issues. Also, Helps to avoid skin allergy issues.
19. Whether they're fresh out of the shelter or going to a new home, don’t feed cheeseburgers/pup cups/etc. You're just giving the new adopter/foster a really tough first few days.
20. Please follow the medical advice given by myself or my vets, regardless of what you think is appropriate.
21. Make sure you tag Leann’s Animal Rescue in posts so that people are also being educated about homelessness, suffering and euthanasia in your area. 🫶🏼

If you feed your dog something specific and you would like to feed your foster dog the same thing, that is fine just let me know please.

Continuing the Legacy of Dennis Romeo through his Dog Shelby & The Angels with fur, that he fought hard to save!

One of the things that seemed to really resonate with Dennis Romeo, Host of the A.M.News and part of the America Matters Media Network in Reno, Nevada was a deep concern and love for those that need us most! Homeless dogs and (cats) needed a voice, shelter from the storm, and some long deserved unconditional love! So, you spoke, we listened, and what did we do you ask? Well we created a program that through sharing on social media, places these sweet loving animals right where they belong, one dog (and cat) at a time! We called this the A.M.News Adopt a Dog Program, & together with Dennis, we helped place these sweet pups and the occasional kitty too in loving homes! Sadly, however, our beloved friend and host of the show, Dennis Romeo, passed away suddenly with his wife & his dog Shelby by his side on the evening of January 3rd 2018. SO...the show must go on as they say in radio and tv, and we know Dennis would have wanted us to continue the cause, so we the correspondents, both American & throughout the world, have decided to dedicate this page in his memory by continuing the legacy he felt so compassionately about, The animals that get left behind in shelters across the country and who nobody seems to want or love! We have a great track record so far, and we plan to continue the tradition! Sharing is caring, so please take that quick 10 seconds and share the post to your personal timeline and anywhere else you think it might benefit this worthy cause! Thank You for your time! Dennis, We love you, We miss you so much already, and we will do our very best to make you proud! “We ask that you look down upon us Dennis, and please watch over us as we do what we have to do to make a dogs dream come true!” With love, and our deepest sympathy to your family & your sweet Shelby girl,

Fondly, Your A.M. News Family & Correspondents!
