Clark Success Story
Meet Clark! Clark is an 8-year-old Labrador who presented to SAGE Redwood City for not being able to walk or use his hind legs. An MRI showed that he had thrown a clot to his spine called a Fibrocartilaginous Embolism or FCE. When treated, the prognosis for FCE paralysis is usually a 70-80% chance for improved mobility with a minimum recovery of two months. Clark spent 10 days at SAGE Redwood City and received supportive care while he couldn’t walk. He also received intensive Physical Rehab with Dr. Kimbrough. He continues to do Physical Rehab and is doing fantastic! Go Clark go!!

🐾✨ SAGE San Francisco Proudly Supports Our Four-Legged Heroes!🚑
We're thrilled to share an incredible moment with our amazing community! 🌟 SAGE San Francisco had the honor of partnering with the US Army and Secret Service during the recent APEC political summit in San Francisco. 🌉 As the emergency partner of choice, we were on call to provide medical support for the K9s involved.
Meet Kaya, a US Army K9, and her dedicated handler, Sgt. Reed! 🐕💙 While our services weren't needed during APEC, this experience allowed us to prepare our team and hospital for any unforeseen emergencies. 🏥✅
We're committed to serving our community and look forward to more opportunities to support national and local emergency services in 2024! 🚨🤝 Thank you for trusting SAGE San Francisco with the health and well-being of our four-legged friends. 🐶❤️

How To Put A Harness On Your Dog

Kitten Regains Ability To Walk
Last year, Bill Scherrer, DVM, DACVS at SAGE Campbell examined a 5-month old tabby kitten, Xavier, who came to us from the Silicon Valley Pet Project. A radiograph showed that the kitten had several fractures to his pelvis and his right sacroiliac joint was dislocated. Because of the severity of the pelvic fractures, we were concerned that if we amputated the right hind leg, his left hind leg would not be strong enough to compensate for the loss.
Dr. Scherrer referred Xavier to Margot Daly, DVM, CCRP, for a Physical Rehabilitation exercise plan. After working with Dr. Daly, Xavier was able to bear weight on his right hind leg, regaining control over his hip, knee, and ankle. And best of all, the doctors did not have to amputate his leg! Since then, Xavier has been adopted by a loving family and is happily climbing cat trees and living a normal kitten life. See for yourself!
