Cloud 9 Canine - Kalamazoo Pet Care & Dog Training Cloud 9 Canine is a professional pet service company located in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Our office hours are 9:00am-7:00pm, Monday-Friday, closed on holidays.

We provide services to dog, cats, small animals, reptiles, or any pets in our community. Cloud 9 Canine utilizes a team of pet sitters to ensure our clients are never left in a bind without care available. We operate 365 days a year offering both pet care and dog training services. Services available daily 6:00am-11:00pm, 365 days per year.

The pleasure of catching up with old friends NEVER gets old! 😊

Henry enrolled in group classes with us in 2022, then reached out at the start of summer for assistance with private training for behavior modification needs in preparation for some life changes ahead!

It was SUCH a delight to work with them to give them the skills they need to work through Henry’s behavior. His humans committed to the process, asked questions, took notes, and got to WORK! And, we had plenty of fun and curiosity along the way. 😊

Rambo is such a brave boy with his training! This guy has been attending day training sessions to work on building his confidence to prepare for a big move. He's a total sweetheart but feels shy and uncertain about many things in the world, so we're laying the foundation of skills to improve his clarity (meaning, knowing what situations are and are not a choice and how to handle them) and his confidence (meaning, developing a sense of security and ability to use other strategies for exploring the world with his nose or eating food to process what's going on around him). We've had a fabulous time so far over the past two weeks and look forward to more! 🤓

"We found Cloud 9 when our usual PetCare options were unavailable to us. And are we ever thrilled to have found them! We have two cats who are a bit skittish around strangers, so we are very particular about who they come in contact with. We were more than pleased with Cloud 9. They communicated with us twice daily with updates and pictures of our pets that did much to alleviate our concerns about them. Our pets were very content when we arrived home and were clearly very well cared for. We will be using Cloud 9 PetCare for the foreseeable future. I highly recommend them!"

Always a DELIGHT to meet new friends—they never stay shy with us forever! 🥰🐈

Melanie and her human enjoying walks again with a loose leash and trained attention away from people! 🎉 Melanie needed assistance walking without pulling, barking and growling at people and dogs, and would get hyper-fixated on scents to relieve stress from her big feelings. She would pull and stand on her hind legs on the end of the leash to frantically attempt to climb up people. All behaviors that make life difficult in a busy neighborhood, and Melanie’s person believes small dogs should have the same level of training as larger ones to have the fullest life possible! 🏡 Her human put in the work to get CONSISTENT with Melanie, meaning giving her clear criteria. Dogs aren’t humans—they don’t understand “rules” and what they “should” do in our world. Showing a dog what is available and eliminating unnecessary stressors in outside life got this pair where they need to be—they even went to an event at church, greeted everyone politely, and sat in the pews hanging out! Their next stop will be a summer trip out to South Haven. 🥰 Giving a dog clear communication requires skillful observation and application of proper progressions to get to the next step. While it’s reinforcing to us to “reduce” behavior, what dogs actually need is MORE options on behaviors to fulfill their purposes in order to thrive. Your trainer needs to have put in the mileage and have a cabinet of experienced and skilled peers to efficiently and effectively analyze your dog. ✅ Needing support? We offer training assistance to give you everything you need to be a clear communicator with your dog, and we have various connections in and out of state of professional-quality trainers with appropriate oversight, certifications, and experience to help link ya with someone else if need be! 😊

Our gentle friend, Cybele, enjoying a swim!!!! This girl took to the pool like a fish: we implemented careful grading of her introduction to swims to give her as much agency over the progression of her experience as possible, with mindful use of positioning from Jordan in the water to work with her sensitivity to spatial pressure so she stayed comfortable while simultaneously receiving clear direction on how and when to safely return herself to the ramp to maximize her independence while exercising. After all the walks over the years, it was our pleasure to get to splash with you, Cyb!
