Our Furry Friends Training Helping families train their pups to be well-mannered family members since 1999. Solving behavioral problems including fear aggression and in-home lessons too.

Online programs include Doggie Door Manners: No More Jumping! In addition to private obedience lessons we also work with people with dogs with more serious behavioral problems. Ask about our small indoors group classes plus one that meets out in the community called Dogs About Town. Our doggie daycare goes up to 4 dogs so your dog is in a safe controlled environment only playing with dogs that are

compatible size and temperament wise. Come learn how to positively change your dog's behavior and understand and learn more about being a good teacher, guide and parent to your furry loved one.

A tip for leaving your adult, non-destructive dog for longer than normal:

As long as it's the only dog ...

At other times when you are home, introduce some "find it" games in the main room that they hang out in. Hide little kongs with a little bit of food in them in different places around the room. Not ones that they can get lodged in their jaw and not so teeny that they can swallow them either.

So that when you leave, you throw one of them and say, "find it" and your dog already knows the game and keeps looking for the other ones on their own.

Also, if at all possible before you leave, do a 5 or 10 minute training session to tire their mind with little play/chase breaks in between to tire their body.

Then before you leave, have time to let their body calm down before the "find it" eating... As well as when you walk out the door they're not as connected to you, so their loss of you isn't perceived as big of a change.

So now they're searching out their breakfast and taking quite a while with that, as opposed to being fed all at once in a bowl and then being left suddenly.

New day care dog Chocolate Lab Angus (slightly lighter color) meets Sequoia Lab/Dobie mix who has come 2x/month for a year or so. They play hard with my close supervision in case I have to intervene. Doing great till Angus is too invasive about 1 minute+ in and she gives him a quick correction...he listens, stops doing the rude behavior and they get right back to having a blast. That is how quick and clear dogs are. I am narrating the video to Angus' owner since it is his first day at Our Furry Friends Training Center in Pleasant Valley at our small day care.
