Most fish are contaminated with heavy metals that, when eaten regularly (especially daily) can cause serious health issues.
We know, it's a great source of Omega 3 but....
It's time to ditch the fish flavoured foods and treat fish based products as an occasional treat, not a core protein source!
If you want to give fish for the omega support, stick to small fish like sprats and capelin (still only feed occasionally) or use a cat-friendly omega 3 supplement!

Does this suprise you?
The original Japanese study from 2000 was the catalyst for believing garlic was toxic to dogs.
This study fed dogs 5g of garlic per kilo of weight (that's a whopping 4 heads of garlic for a 75lb dog) over 12 days.
Now, let's be honest, anyone eating that amount of garlic isn't going to feel too hot.
However, recent studies have found no observable changes in bloodwork, clinical signs, or markers of oxidiative damage to dogs consuming garlic and even suggest snall amounts of garlic may be benefitial to their health.
That being said, we're not suggesting you start using garlic as a training treat but the more you know!

❓️❔️ Do you feed your pet a dry kibble diet?
Did you know:
🐕 Dogs need very little carbs in their diet
And
🐈 Cats don’t need any at all!
So why do so many pet food brands stuff them full of carbs and are they even that good for your fluffy friends?
Because they are cheap 💰💰💰
Traditional dry foods can be:
👎 Bad for the gut
👎 Full of unnecessary fillers and preservatives
👎 Covered in smelly oils to appeal to your pets
👎 Low in real meat content
👎 High in low-nutrient ingredients like rice and oats
But, not all dry foods are created equal.
Freeze-dried and air-dried foods are:
❤️ Made with high-quality ingredients
❤️ Raw or gently cooked to preserve nutrients
❤️ Easily digested
❤️ Support pet health and wellbeing
Yes, pet kibbles are more often than not designed to be a ‘balanced’ meal but, as a single source meal every single day it’s boring for them and not always full of the healthiest ingredients.
🟢 But, we're also not a bunch of judgy pants here because kibble is affordable and in those low bank account moments, fed is always best 🙂🙂

What do you use to clean your dog's teeth? 🦷🦷🦷
We’re going to be brutal here….
Most dental treats are nothing more than glorified cereal bars 🤦♀️
The theory is that the chewing motion causes the dental treat to rub up against the teeth, giving them a good clean but this doesn’t really happen.
Many dental chews are too soft to create any effective plaque removal.
Plus, their ingredients could be causing more build-up than you think.
We mean, would you brush your teeth with a slice of bread? 😲😲
That’s what many dental chews are as good as.
Now, if you want to use them as an anxiety-reducing chew or a treat to occupy your fluffy companion for a while, go ahead.
But for tooth cleaning, try one of these instead:
🐕 Doggy toothpaste and toothbrushes
🐔 Chicken feet
🦆 Duck necks
🐇 Rabbit's ears

We all know kibble isn’t always the best for our pets. It’s like feeding them cereal every day, for the rest of their lives but it’s affordable and often it’s our only option. 🤷♀️🤷♀️
But there are ways you can improve a bowl of kibble to make it healthier and more interesting for your pet.
❤️ HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE
Most kibble has an average of only 10% moisture and our cats and dogs need a moisture rich diet.
So, a simple and budget-friendly way of improving kibble is by soaking it in liquid. This also makes it much easier for your pet to digest.
Warm water is the easiest option but, if you want to up the nutritional value of their meals, you can use goats milk or bone broth.
❤️ ADD AN EGG
Not only are eggs an excellent source of Omega 3’s and protein, raw eggs can increase our pet’s licking motion. This licking increases the production of saliva which can improve dental health and protect their teeth.
Great for both cat’s and dog’s, chicken eggs are great for canines whereas quail eggs are better suited to feline’s due to their size and they can generally be fed raw or cooked.
❤️ MEAT TOPPERS
Many kibbles are notoriously low in high-quality meat proteins. That’s why we should all be adding extra meat toppers to our pet’s bowls.
It could be cooked chicken or mince, freeze-dried organ meat treats, or wet pet food with a high meat content. This is also a great way of diversifying the types of meat your pet gets to enjoy.
You can even try novel proteins like veal, ostrich, and wild boar to avoid food boredom and kibble fatigue.

But, which of these budget-friendly meat cuts should you feed your furry pals?
⭐️ LIVER
One of our favourite organ meats for our pets is the liver. It's chock full of vitamins A, B, and K, Zinc and Iron.
A natural support for immune function and digestion, you can feed it to your animal companions raw, cooked, or even dehydrated.
⭐️ GIZZARDS
An often forgotten yet incredibly beneficial organ is gizzards.
Packed with cartilage, Zinc, B12, B3, B5, B9, magnesium, and Iron, gizzards help support healthy tissue growth, kidney function, and thyroid metabolism.
⭐️ HEART
Rich in taurine, an essential amino acid that supports our pet's heart, health and vision, hearts are a powerhouse organ full of essential nutrients.
⭐️ PANCREAS
The pancreas is rich in healthy enzymes and is another organ often left unconsidered.
It can help support healthy pancreas function, as well as help with EPI. It can also help manage diabetes in pets and is great for those with enzyme deficiencies.
⭐️ KIDNEYS
These bean-shaped organs are an essential part of a healthy pet diet if you want to maintain healthy kidney function.
Rich in Copper, Folate, Iron, Zinc, and a whole host of vitamins, kidneys are also a high protein source.

However, it's important to remember that a little goes a long way with organ meats - that's how nutrient-dense they are.
