💚💚After an incredible two weeks, our hearts are overflowing with gratitude for the community that makes every START Rescue achievement possible. In just 14 days:
   •   We helped save 79 dogs from the streets and overcrowded shelters
   •   We adopted out three BIG dogs from our foster program
   •   We celebrated Thanksgiving with loved ones
   •   We met our Giving Tuesday matched-donations goal
   •   And we kicked off the holiday season with our “Day of Hope” in Maricopa, CA!

This was our third event in Maricopa—and we’re close to FIXing nearly every pet in the entire town. In partnership with SNIP Bus, Westside Outreach & Rescue, and Operation Blankets of Love, we provided spay/neuter and vaccination services to 102 pets in a single day in this small, under-resourced community. Even with afternoon rain, the day was filled with compassion and hope.

“Spay/neuter is the best, most effective, long-term way to stop suffering, especially in communities like ours with few resources,” said Cory Morse, Mayor of Maricopa.

Alongside veterinary care, families received holiday gift bags, warm blankets for pets, toys, and treats—spreading joy to pets and people alike.
“We can’t rescue our way out of overpopulation,” said Steve Spiro, START Rescue President & Co-Founder. Events like this are how we uplift communities and create long-lasting change. 🍁🐶💚

JONESY PUPDATE! 💚🐾
From last day before euthanasia… to the very best life.

Jonesy’s adopter sent us this update recently!

“Jonesy is doing amazing. I love him so much. He’s definitely come out of his shell. I learned he hates the rain and refuses to go outside unless I go with him! 🤣 I’m just really glad I got him and he’s a great fit in my life.”

JONSEY was saved on his very last day at the Stanislaus shelter. He had one final attempt to save him, an adoption event in California, and when no one stepped up… our big dog foster SHAUNNA, said YES send him to me! She offered to free-foster him, and we covered his food, vaccine, and neuter.

He came to START in April and at 80
pounds, we knew we may have him for a long while despite his bring absolutely gorgeous, unique and sweet. So we waited, kept posting new photos, getting him out and about, putting him on social media, and by early August, he was ADOPTED into a perfect home. 🏡
What a beautiful boy and a happy new beginning for him! ❤️🐶

…And today, as we handed over the 79th animal (last one on board!) to their new caregivers… a rainbow broke through the clouds and grew brighter by the minute.

“The Enzo Express” was clearly a very blessed rescue-transport mission. ☀️🌈🐾
