PRINCE CHARMING GOT HIS HOOVES TRIMMED! NOW HE NEEDS A HOME!!
We know it's difficult to see, but this is his happy face. Charm is gelded, 6 years or so old, and hoping for a great forever home who will love him and who enjoys grooming long, luxurious locks. He's submissive in the herd, gentle with all of the animals here, and super chill on lead. He has a current Coggins and is on a quarterly deworming schedule. HONORING A LIFE WELL LIVED
A true friend of Barnyard lost a beloved family member recently. To honor his memory, she made a generous gift to the animals in our care. Heather tells us that her Uncle Bill "...was always up for adventure! Always wanted to be outside. He loved fishing and hunting and mowing his yard! Loved his family and friends so much and always had a smile on his face." Heather and her family will always remember Uncle Bill Schrader. And so will we. Our love to you and your family, Heather.

JODY and CHEWY FOR THE WIN!!
Our neighbor and new friend, Jody, got an order from Chewy that included this big bag of feed by mistake. Jody contacted the company and they suggested that, instead of returning it, he use it or donate it to a good cause. Thanks to Jody and Chewy, the Barnyard Sanctuary roosters, guineas, and ducks are enjoying this high quality feed! We love our Barnyard community.

ADOPTED, ADOPTED, ADOPTED!
Best buddies, PopTart and Beaker, went to their amazing forever home today. They are joining Barnyard Sanctuary alumni, Bubba, the mini donk. These guys will now get all of the scratches, brushing, and love that they want. They deserve it and we are so happy for them! Happy life painted boys!

A new friend reached out to us with the gift of dog food. This stuff is WAY above our pay grade but the pups really love it. It's actually so good that we use it as treats instead of as food!! Thank you Gage for the most thoughtful gift!

WHAT GIVES YOU JOY?
Some folks love fine wine, some are moved by good art, others flip over designer handbags. Us? For us, it's HAY! Having enough of the hay that we know our animals need makes us VERY happy. Today, everyone came together to bring the first of 3 loads of this gorgeous green goodness. Thanks to Matt for giving us such a great deal, to Bryce and Trisha for the super duper affordable hauling (amazing!), and to Brad for getting it all unloaded for us. And thanks to YOU, our generous donors for making it all possible. We LOVE our Barnyard Sanctuary friends.

WE'VE HAD SOME MEMORABLES THROUGH THE YEARS HERE AT BARNYARD SANCTUARY!

We got a call from a lady from a nearby town who had found an injured bird she wanted us to take. She had him on her porch and had given him water and a big bowl of bird seed. Turned out he is a raptor, a juvenile Caracara, sometimes called the "Mexican Eagle." I asked our "supervolunteer and queen of transport" if she could get him and I promptly called Tony at the ARK to see if he had room for this amazing bird. He was all too happy to help and met our volunteer half way for the "bird-swap."

We don't have the facilities or the knowledge to deal with birds of prey but we are thrilled to be able to help get them to the place that does! Thank you Tony for all you do (and you too, supervolunteer!)

TALKING DOG FOR SALE
A guy is driving the rural roads of Texas and he sees a sign in front of a broken down shanty-style house: 'Talking Dog For Sale.'

He rings the bell and the owner appears and tells him the dog is in the backyard.

The guy goes into the backyard and sees a nice looking Labrador Retriever sitting there.

"You talk?" he asks.

"Yep" the Lab replies.

After the guy recovers from the shock of hearing a dog talk, he says, "So, what's your story?"

The Lab looks up and says, "Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young. I wanted to help the government, so I told the CIA. In no time at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping, I was one of their most valuable spies for eight years running... but the jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn't getting any younger so I decided to settle down. I signed up for a job at the airport to do some undercover security, wandering near suspicious characters and listening in. I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded a batch of medals. I got married, had a mess of puppies, and now I'm just retired."

The guy is amazed. He goes back in and asks the owner what he wants for the dog.

"Ten dollars" the guy says.

"Ten dollars? This dog is amazing! Why on Earth are you selling him so cheap?"

"Because he's a liar. He's never been out of the yard.

We put items on the list that are super helpful but not always in our squeaky little budget. These gifts make our animals, and us, very happy!

WOW! WHAT A HAPPY SURPRISE!
We were down to ONE leash at Barnyard Sanctuary - they tend to "walk away," you know. So we added several of our favorite type onto our Amazon WishList. We didn't even make a facebook post to beg for them. Well, guess what! An Amazon Angel, a most thoughtful and generous supporter, sent us all 6 of the leashes that we needed! We are constantly amazed at and grateful for our Barnyard community. Thank You, Sir, you made our day!

HAVE PITY ON A POOR LIL' PUP!

This 8 month old, 7 pound pup wants to start begging for his forever home right...yesterday! One day he was roaming around free as a bird, dodging cars and scrounging for scraps. Then he wandered into the clutches of the Barnyard folks. At Barnyard Sanctuary, not only did he have to tolerate playing with kitty, Tom, before he got adopted, but next Thursday they're going to take him to the VET to be neutered!! In the meantime he's had to endure being deflea'd, vaccinated, housetrained, sleeping on a cushy couch, and eating nutritious food. He simply will not put up with us any longer! Lucky little kitty found a great country home with a fantastic family. Once we got him neutered and vaccinated and were sure he was healthy, the perfect people were waiting for him. He went from living rough under a truck to living large on a safe farm home. Happy life little Tom.

LURCH LOVES LOWE'S MARKET! Our big boy, Lurch, has a healthy appetite and his very favorite foods are fresh veggies and the occasional fruit. As you know, fresh healthy produce is pricey and so we are ever so grateful when our Orange Grove Lowe's donates a big box or two for Lurch. Even the bunnies and chinchilla get special treats on "Lowe's Days!"

????HAPPY NEW YEAR???? WE ARE ABSOLUTELY NOT HAPPY! This video was shot from the Barnyard Sanctuary's front pasture. The fireworks were launched from the middle of fm 70. Literally on the yellow line in the middle of the road. They have flashlights to stop traffic! The animals are terrified. Is this fun? Is it fair? Is it acceptable? (I apologize for my 1 word comment towards the end of the video. Don't know how to edit.)

CAUSE "WAKIN' UP IS HARD TO DO-OO!" The newest arrival at Barnyard Sanctuary came to us dehydrated, weak, and anemic but she's clearly feeling better now. This bottle baby promises to be a real character! Happy International Cat Day, lucky kitten!

HEALING HANDS! Duck #4 is feeling much better now. All he needed was a skilled veterinary team with years of education, decades of experience, endless compassion, and the right tools! Lucky for ducky, we found him that team. This boy is a domestic Rouen duck so he'll be available for adoption once healed. We'll keep you updated on his progress.
