Golden Retrievers Gone Rogue: A Midnight Mission in Fairbanks
It was 11:30 p.m. in Fairbanks, Alaska — because who doesn’t go out to dinner at midnight during Solstice with five dogs and no shame?
Our elite SWAT team (Special Woof and Treat unit) was on the move. Five fearless furry operatives loaded up and headed to dinner. Once the slider door opened, chaos and golden fluff erupted.
Honey and Ruby launched straight into the restaurant’s kitchen like they had reservations under “Good Girls, Party of Two.” Meanwhile, Gunner ignored the kitchen entrance entirely and chose to make a dramatic entrance through the front door like he owned the place—probably looking for a podium to host trivia night.
Sadie remained behind, the self-appointed security detail, watching for people… or potential squirrel threats.
And then there was the outcast terrier, a black 14-year-old snack-seeking missile, who took it upon herself to patrol the entire outdoor area for fallen french fries, rogue buns, or any crumbs left behind by sloppy humans.
Before you could say “Do you have a dog menu?”, the golden retrievers had taken over the restaurant. No table was safe. No patron ignored.
Welcome to Alaska—where even the dogs don’t believe in bedtime during Solstice.
