Ever wonder why your Little Woofer moves in an "odd" or "peculiar" way? Why they never land on a certain paw or move both hind legs together when running? Why do they pause or hesitate before a jump? Why they nearly look like they walk sideways rather than straight on or why they can't stay in a straight line when they are walking?
When a dog is in pain or uncomfortable, they will adjust/adapt how they move to help ease how they feel. This then means they are over working other body parts and causing damage in other places.
If you'd like to know if your Little Woofers movement is normal or if they are masking a painful area, get in touch about our Dynamic Dog Assessment that can look into this🐶 Knowledge is power!
We found another lovely walk we'd like to share with you in Meath called the Jamestown bog walking trail
We will add in ///what three words so people can find it on a map:)
This bog walk was a 4.3km loop with lots of cute little stops along the way.
Parking is limited but when we went, there were only 3 other cars here (thankfully Killian was driving🤣)
Pros:
Lovely picnic area
People seemed to follow doggie etiquette (dogs off lead but popped back on when other walkers/dogs were passing by).
Easy terrain
Plenty of Sniffy spots
Plenty of space to pull into if you have a reactive dog
Lots of lovely stopping points with seats
Not many people there or other dogs when we were there
Cons:
Didn't see any poo or rubbish bins on the walk or in the car park we were in. (That's 3 for 3 walks with no bins🙄
Bring a thermos and do enjoy a cuppa in the picnic area if you go 😊 there's meant to be a coffee van which wasn't there when we were.
Obviously you need to be tick aware in areas like this!

Lola's Story: From Frustration to Relief
Lola was struggling, and her humans were at a loss. The vet said it was "behavioural," but something didn't feel right to her pawrents.
That's where we came in! With our Dynamic Dog Assessment, we went beyond just behaviour and assessed Lola's entire movement (gait analysis).
And guess what? With our report, it pushed her vets to investigate further, and they discovered the real culprit: double hip dysplasia!
Thanks to a thorough assessment, Lola is receiving the proper care for her diagnosis!
Is your pup showing unexpected behavioural changes? Don't settle for "it's behavioural! "
Our Dynamic Dog Assessment can help uncover the underlying cause, leading to a happier, healthier dog.

Unleash Calm Walks
Is your walk more of a tug-of-war than a stroll?
Loose lead walking is all about consistency, patience, and practice!
• Consistency: Make loose leash walking a habit for your doggo. Little and often will be the win here.
• Patience: Remember, training takes time! Just because you see "perfect" loose lead on social media doesn't mean it happened over night, it can take months to get there.
• Practice: Practice, practice, practice in the house, in the garden, out the front garden before going out into the big bad world!
Ready to ditch the leash tension and embrace joyful walks? Let's go!

Does your dog REALLY show pain?
Just because your dog is playing, and going for walks doesn't mean they're not in pain.
Did you know? A study by the University of California, Davis found that 1 in 5 dogs over the age of 1 in the US suffer from osteoarthritis, a painful condition that can significantly impact their quality of life.
Here's the thing: Many dogs are stoic and hide their pain well. They may still go for walks, play fetch, and wag their tails, even when they're uncomfortable.
So, how do you know if your dog is in pain?
At Little Woofers, we use gait analysis to assess subtle changes in your dog's movement that can indicate pain or discomfort. This non-invasive technique helps us identify potential issues early on, so we can get your dog the help they need.
Don't ignore what your dog is telling you
If you're concerned about your dog's pain, contact us today to schedule a gait analysis!
