Happy Chickens!
Adoption Update: some of the rescued chickens!
Back in May, we were able to rescue 18 chickens from a large chicken egg factory outside Portland, and once they were healthy, they were available for adoption. Here's the update Colleen got from some of the flock's new family,
"Hi Colleen,
Thanks for reaching out. I have been meaning to write to you. I kept the ladies in the henhouse for two weeks to help them settle in, then last weekend I let them out for an afternoon—and they were so excited! There was a lot of chatter about the clover and the bugs. I'd had the sprinkler on the "lawn" all morning, so it was damp and cool, and they were pulling out huge earthworms. They are all laying, and we are very happy together."
What a happy ending!
Happy Caturday from Theo!
Theo is an incredibly sweet kitty who loves to be with people, he will follow you around until you give him a good scratching!
We do not know much about Theo's history other than he was surrendered to the local humane society because he is FIV+ and the owners had several other cats in the home so Theo had to live in a separate room. Theo will need to be an indoor kitty only and be the only other cat in the house unless the others are FIV+.
If Theo sounds like a kitty that would make your home complete put in an Adoption Application today: https://sanctuaryone.org/rescue-animals/adopt-us/adoption-application/
Cosmo needs a forever home!
Cosmo is a baby boy with a lot of love to give! He's friendly, affectionate, loyal, gentle, playful, smart, athletic, funny, and loves giving kisses.
He's curious about everything and loves to explore, but he's also very good with other dogs. He's the perfect age to join a family and settle in as their lifelong companion. We'd love to see him go to a home that can give him all the love and attention that he deserves. If you're interested in adopting Cosmo, please fill out an Adoption Application here: https://sanctuaryone.org/rescue-animals/adopt-us/adoption-application/
Meet Merlin!
Meet Merlin, the powerful wizard!
This young boy will surely bring lots of wonder and magic into anyone's life. He loves his doggy pals as well as his two-legged human friends!
We don't know much about Merlin's start in life other than he was abandoned with the rest of his litter not far from Rescue Ranch in Yreka CA. While he was reasonably timid at first he quickly learned that we weren't so bad and showed off his goofy and playful personality.
He has been amazing in playgroups and loves making new canine friends wherever he goes.

Any gardener will attest that the need to weed is an ongoing phenomenon–and one many of us find enjoyable! It’s a beautiful affair when you have a volunteer, intern, and goat who are all enjoying themselves while weeding (or feeding) on a breezy and sunny late spring day. We have SO MUCH gratitude to our garden crew at the farm! Their diversity of backgrounds, interests, expertise and personalities all coalesce around quite a positive presence on our land.
This great pig needs a forever home!
Like all pigs, Junior is social, intelligent, and loves to play 🐷 Pigs are very clean animals, and are considered to be smarter than dogs- they have great memories and can even remember directions in order to navigate their way home.
Junior has quickly become a staff favorite with his funny personality, he spends his days out in the barnyard with 4 goats. He is learning his name and will come when called!

Meet Bunny and Clyde!
Bunny (white female) is a 2 year old adorable Terrier mix and Clyde (tan male) is an outgoing Chihuahua/Terrier mix who is around 5/6 years old.
Bunny and Clyde were recently returned to us because of health concerns with the adopter; it was a heartbreaking decision for the family. These two pups were very loved and well taken care of. Since their adoption, they are now crate trained, walk nicely on a tandem leash and are housebroken. These two sweet dogs are a bonded pair and will only be adopted together and to an exceptional home.
If you have room in your heart to welcome Bunny and Clyde put in an Adoption Application today: https://sanctuaryone.org/rescue-animals/adopt-us/adoption-application/
Happy Caturday from Goodman! He has been with us for 443 days, and even though we take very good care of him, he would love to have a home to call his own. He is good with children and other cats, but since he is FIV+ he will need to be an indoor-only cat. Please fill out the adoption application if you think he would be a good addtition to your family! https://sanctuaryone.org/rescue-animals/adopt-us/adoption-application/

Meet Ming! This 5-year-old tri-color Pekingese is a handsome fellow with a face you can’t forget.
Despite his show-worthy appearance, Ming ended up at Sanctuary One as a stray. However, we believe he'll quickly find a loving home. Aside from his pretty looks, he has a very laid back and affectionate personality known for dozing off during grooming sessions and being an excellent walker, faithfully staying by your side. Ming will be neutered on 2/28 and will be available for adoption when he is healed.
For small dog enthusiasts, Ming is the perfect candidate, put in your Adoption Application today! (link in bio)

Cowboy needs a forever home!
Cowboy has been at the sanctuary for 241 days, and he'd really like to find his forever home. He's an adult cattle dog, is good with children and other dogs (but would be best in a home without cats). He is great for hikes, rides in the truck, playing ball, and just hanging out with you. He is house-trained, and walks nicely on a leash. If you are interested, fill out an aplication online: https://sanctuaryone.org/rescue-animals/adopt-us/adoption-application/
Ready for Open Farm Day! We added 100 more tickets!
Our amazing volunteer, Leslie, in the cat cottage
Volunteer spotlight: Leslie! Leslie is not only one of our amazing volunteers, but she is also a board member, and we couldn't do what we do without her! This year alone she has already given more than 82 hours of her time to helping us at the sanctuary. She is so kind, caring, and passionate about all aspects of the care farm; the students on field trips, giving tours to the public, taking care of the animals, and helping in the gardens. She and her husband have also given a forever home to several of our goats and chickens! Thank you so much for everything you do for the care farm, you are a ray of sunshine!
