A lot of my Ruddington customers/friends may already know but there was a fatal dog attack in Rudd last week.

I knew Hugo well and always loved bumping into him on my walks. He was such a affectionate boy who loved everyone and everyone loved him 🥰

He did not deserve this awful end and his owners did not deserve this trauma and loss in their lives 😢

Last week we unfortunately lost one of the very first dogs I ever took on when starting the The Mutt’s Nuts (the other being his sister Rosie), Rommy (Romeo) 💔

Having the privilege to have been in this boys life and daily routine as long as I have, and him in mine, has been a huge blessing and all of us miss him an incredible amount. We have heartwarming fond memories of him, Rosie and Mollie taking up the entire bed for afternoon snuggles, being Mollie’s bodyguard when she had IVDD, and the times you’d catch him with his tongue out 😋
Thank you to his owner for giving me the pleasure of knowing and caring for Rom, it has been a gift to spend that time with him.

Go find Tank and Lola, love you big lad 💚

Again, my apologies to those who got cancelled this afternoon so I could get my tyre sorted but the safety of “my” dogs is paramount. Last thing I’d want is this coming out whilst going down a dual carriageway.

(2/2) G (or Graham) has been one of my closest friends for the last seven years, having met on the park when we got Mollie, and we would go on daily dog walks together. G passed away from cancer, but I feel honoured that throughout his diagnosis, he chose to walk with me every morning on the park with all of the dogs and his own. Between us we’d have quite the crowd but G just loved being surrounded by dogs. He and his wife Tracy dedicated a huge part of their lives to Guide Dogs for the Blind, raising puppies into their training, and taking in older guide dogs and giving them a loving retirement as well as continuously raising money for the charity – something I have always respected them for and a true show of their character and the kind of couple they are.

He was a best friend, uncle and adopted dad to me over the years, alongside “mum” Tracy, and they have been a continuous support to me throughout a lot of changes in my life, including taking the risk of starting out The Mutt’s Nuts and we have been blessed to have called him family. Our Mollie didn’t take to men much when she was younger – the only exception (other than me, daddy’s girl) was G. A testament to his beautiful, soft soul. It is painfully saddening to know that we won’t be saying “look, it’s Uncle G!!” to Mollie and seeing her go berserk for cuddles anymore. He is unbelievably missed by everyone– mornings at work will just not feel the same.
G will be together again with his beloved golden retriever Angus, who sadly passed away suddenly six months ago. Another reminder that our time is so precious, and G taught us to make the most of it and fill it with the people and dogs you love.

(1/2) Some of you know I haven’t been at work for most of last couple of months, because I lost both one of my closest friends and my Grandpa within 6 days of each other. It has been a very hard end to 2022, but I’d like to share some words about how these two great men have shaped my life.

My Grandpa has been a heavy influence in my life, and I owe a lot of my character to him, especially my love for animals. He has been the father figure throughout my life, from pouring hours and dedication into supporting my ice hockey as a teenager to taking me to school every day. When I was a kid, I would often go on holidays with my grandparents, and my Pa would always take me to any local animal sanctuaries and rescues. He instilled the importance of animal welfare and respect for all creatures great and small, and I owe a lot to him for where I am now, working with dogs, and loving every single one of them and what I do.

Whilst I’ve been a dog walker, almost every one of the dogs has met my Pa at some point, and some really took to him (Theo especially!). During Pa’s decline, the one thing guaranteed to light his eyes up again would be one of the dogs stopping to say hello and have a cuddle or play. Pa was very much a dog lover throughout his life and it’s been a privilege to have been able to have so many different dogs and characters around him in his last few years. It goes without saying that I miss him terribly, but I suspect a lot of the dogs will miss him too when they next visit.
Rest in peace Pa. There’s a huge hole here from when you left us, but I hope I’ve done you proud and you’re reunited with Timmy, Bessie, Chocca, Frank and Fynn.

Hi everyone! A reminder about disposing of pumpkins after 🎃 Halloween Night . Please do NOT put these on the ground for 🦔🦔Hedgehogs to eat in Gardens, Parks and Greenspaces. Pumpkin acts as a laxative and will cause hedgehogs to have serious diarrhoea and dehydration. At this time of year it is vital that hedgehogs put on as much weight as possible to give them the best chance of surviving winter and hibernation. ❤️🦔 Help our prickly friends and local wildlife charities who help look after sick and injured hogs.

No time on Earth is long enough to share with the animals we love, or prepare our hearts to say goodbye 💔

A few weeks ago we had to say goodbye to Lola. One of the very first dogs I’ve walked, by my side for 5 days a week for the last few years. It’s hard to put into words the devastation and loss felt by her passing, and that loss is deep and heart wrenching. The only assurance is that for the last few years I have spent with her have been filled with ball catching, walks and most importantly cuddles and love.

I’d like to thank her owners for hiring me all this time and bringing Lola into my life - a dog so gentle, loving and full of her own quirks, it was hard to ever imagine a day without her. She will be so unbelievably missed, by me, by her owners, and her sister Willow. She will be missed by all her doggy companions on her walks, and all the people we’d meet who would instantly fall in love with her - how could you not?

Run free sweet girl, be with Tank and get all the balls, wherever you are in this boundless universe ❤️ ❤️

What a week!!

We've just got back from Santorini 🇬🇷 and our main priority was to visit and volunteer at Santorini Animal Welfare Association - SAWA and see up close the incredible hard work and love these guys give to every animal that comes to them, from dogs, cats and birds to farm animals and horses, and the donkeys that are mistreated appallingly on the island for work and tourism.

They open their arms to anyone who wants to come visit and lend a hand no matter how big or small the task may be, whether that's cuddling a pile of puppies, walking the dogs to the serene, quiet beach nearby, or mucking out the farm animals.
Of course I had to walk as many as I could!

We hopefully will be bringing one of the puppies, Margo, back to the UK to be a new addition to our family ❤️ Logistics are a nightmare so if anyone has any experience, advice or help with bringing pets back to the UK from the EU post-Brexit we'd really appreciate it!

If you're considering going to Greece/Santorini, please check these guys out because what they do is insane, the risks they take to give every living thing the love and care they need is nothing short of incredible. But they cannot do it on their own and they will always welcome help.
