Some of you surely will remember Summer, a YHR foster who came to us after having been attacked by a large dog and untreated until she was horribly infected. Thanks to our wonderful supporters and due to Summer's amazing strength we were able to save her. That was in 2011. She was adopted in 2012 and has a wonderful, loving family! <3
Her mom sent us this video today that we just HAD to share. Summer was estimated to be 3 years of age in 2011, so that would make her about 14 now. Look at the zip in her step! Sweet girlie loves her walks!
Her mom put the video to music. The chorus is "sun-eyed girl" but her mom said she sings it to Summer as "my Summer girl".
We love you to pieces Miss Summer!
Putting a few pics in the comments because we cannot put them on a post with the video....they show how she came to us. She's a true miracle girl!
Izzy
Celebrating baby steps! Izzy's foster mom stood her up by her water bowl this morning as she has many times and look what happened! By the time she ran for her phone to capture it Izzy was almost done.
She does have a long road ahead but we continue to be in awe of Izzys determination <3
We are so thankful to Dr. Colleen Willms and the rest of the Critical Care Team at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists for saving Izzy . The care she received there was amazing!!
Izzy is making more progress!! She stood on her own today!! She does not stand for extended periods of time, but it is huge she is able to stand on her own. Thank you all for the continued prayers and support!! ❤️
Izzy eating today! She still cannot stand by herself but she is coming along and with support is eating and also relieving herself. ........
Short video of Izzy eating today. She is still wobbly and has to be held because her legs flail, but she is very eager to eat which is a good sign. We will post more this evening after we get an update, but wanted to share this video.
You can donate to her care here or directly on our website.
Thank you everyone for your prayers for sweet Izzy!
LOOK WHO MADE A JAIL BREAK!!!
Izzy is at her foster home this evening getting some much needed snuggles, rest and good food!!
This video was of her discharge from the hospital this afternoon.
She will go back in 2 weeks for follow up and suture removal.
Thank you again to all for your donations and good thoughts and prayers.

Ariel - February 21, 2019
February 22, 2019 -
ARIEL UPDATE! - We are VERY excited to share this awesome story......
The Physical Therapy Department at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in Houston has done all of this!! Ariel has shown dramatic improvement!! She was seen recently by Dr. Brian Beale and he was so encouraged by her progress!! Her muscles are no longer horribly contracted and the only thing preventing her from straightening her legs are her knees which are basically frozen. She is able to keep her feet under her now and raise her little bum off the floor which is really major as she was pretty much dragging herself when she came to us and her little feet were sticking out to the side. Her next appointment with Dr. Beale will be the first week of May. at which time xrays will be done and a determination made regarding surgery to repair her knees. When this all started, no one knew for sure how she would progress and whether surgical repair might even be an option. Many thanks to everyone in the PT department.......Nancy Doyle who spent so much time helping Ariel's foster mom with things to work on before Ariel was ready for therapy and for setting up her treatment plan when she was ready and many thanks to her awesome team.....Kristina, Eva and Sarah..... Ariel LOVES going there and is always happy to see them!! <3 -----------------------------------------------------------You can follow Ariel on our website. We are accepting donations for her physical therapy which is about $736/month.

Carly walking before surgery...
Our new foster, Carly, is having surgery on her back legs today and the estimate is $3,100. Any donations towards her surgery will be greatly appreciated!
Carly was found stray and brought to a local animal shelter. No one claimed her so she was released to YHR. She currently only has two teeth that will need to come out and as is shown by the video, her back legs are severely crippled. On both of her back legs, her knee caps are all the way on the inside of her legs and have apparently been this way for years because they are fused in this position. This baby has obviously walked this way for a very long time. The good news is that she saw the orthopedic surgeon today and he has given us hope. She may not be 100% after, but she is a candidate for surgery and this will give her a walk like she has never remembered. One where she isn't crippled or dragging herself to get up. We are so excited. Surgery is scheduled for today, and we are ready for this to happen to get her on her way to a normal life. After her legs have healed, we will have her remaining two teeth removed.
She hasn't been with us long, so we will be watching her personality and will give a proper bio once we learn about this sweet little soul. We do know that she eats soft food very well and loves to sit in a lap. More info on what she will be looking for in a new home coming soon. You can donate towards her surgery and follow her at:

Checks can be mailed to : Yorkie Haven Rescue, PO Box 219, Seabrook, TX 77586
THANK YOU FOR SHARING!
Tiny Tim is having shoulder surgery Friday, May 11. He is a bit short of his fundraising goal; but, as you can see in the video, he cannot wait for this surgery.

Penny playing
We are thrilled to report to you that Penny is doing really well and sends her love and thanks for all of the prayers and donations to help her!
We cannot put the photo alongside the video, so her latest photo will be in the comments below.
Her bio on our website: 2/26/18 - Here is a new picture of Penny and a video of her playing, yes, playing with her toys and foster mom. This is so heartwarming to see. And listen closely while watching the video, Penny isn't honking or coughing. The medicine she is on is definitely helping, but it does happen when she gets overly excited. Beggers can't be choosy and we will take any good news we can get. She is having her dental and the additional mammary masses removed today and then it will be time for this baby to take a break from seeing the doctors. We have learned one major thing about Penny's personality. She doesn't like other dogs. Yep, can you believe a little girl with all these medical issues to overcome and she is going to go and be a diva. The nerve. Well, this just means that Ms. Penny will need to be the one and only. That isn't too much to ask after the life she has led so far. So, if you are looking for a sweetheart of a girl that wants to give all her love to her parents and wants all of theirs all to herself.
---------------------
For those who don't know Penny ... she came to us after being found on the side of a road in a bag. She had a huge mammary tumor and was very dirty and matted. Her photos and story are in another post not far down this page. Her before and after is stunning.....her resilience is amazing. Precious girl............
Bella & Brady
Bella and Brady were dumped at a shelter together. We did not know if they were attached to one another and both needed medical attention. Brady more so than Bella. These two awesome little seniors went into a foster home together, but with all of the leg surgeries that Brady had to have and heal from, these two didn't get a chance to show us how much they love to play. Well, they were adopted together to an awesome home and do EVERYTHING together. Sleep, drink, eat, and play.... all the time. They love each other and their new family loves them. Who says life can't start when you are a senior?
Chloe and Logan
Chloe and Logan were both YHR adoptees. They were looking for a home and boy did they luck out! This is the kind of treatment all rescue pups deserve!
Congratulations and Happy New Year Chloe and Logan!
