Many pet owners are battling with the scale from time While overweight and obese dogs are too common, Sometimes, for whatever reason, our dogs need to put on weight.

When our dogs are underweight, they spend more energy than they eat.
❗️ Of course, several conditions can cause your dog to go off their food or become underweight, so if your dog becomes underweight and the cause isn't apparent, get them checked out by a vet to understand why they're underweight and give proper advice.

Please get in touch if you'd like one-on-one nutritional support for your dog! 🐾

Just like humans, dogs need mental stimulation to keep them happy and healthy. As the weather becomes colder and could be less appealing for log walks and outdoor adventures, look to indoor enrichment solutions for your pooch.

Puzzle toys and new games are great ways to keep your dog engaged, especially when you can't give them 100% attention.

We're hoping all your canine companions are settled and safe. We expect bonfire celebrations to begin this weekend, making it a scary few days for our pooches.

We hope that you've been able to implement the tips for desensitizing dogs to fireworks noises and setting them up a safe space to help them stay calm. Remember to turn on the radio or play some calming music, to help to make those fireworks blend into the background noise.

It's Halloween this week! It’s an exciting holiday, but here are some tips to keep your pooch safe.
Foods:
🍬Avoid chocolate – contains theobromine which is toxic for dogs, as well as containing sugar and other things best avoided.
🍬Avoid sweets – contain sweeteners which can be toxic for dogs but also sugars, colourants and other things best avoided
Decorations:
🎃Ensure to keep your spooky decorations out of reach of your dog. They could chew or eat them, or even get tangled in them.
🎃If you have a pumpkin with a candle make sure to keep this out of reach. Pumpkin is a tasty addition for your dog once it’s cooked, but raw pumpkin combined with the dangers of a lit candle are definitely best avoided.
Scary:
🦇Knocks on the door can be scary for some dogs, especially by humans wearing masks. Keep your pooch safe by restricting their access to the door when there are trick or treaters. This way they can be kept safely inside.
🦇Walk before dark – this way you’ll meet less trick or treaters who can be scary for you and your dog!
Keep your dog safe this Halloween

Beginning our preparations for Halloween and Bonfire Night and keeping our dogs calm and safe.

🎆Have you considered playing fireworks sounds to desensitize your pooch before Bonfire celebrations and fireworks time arrives? It's a great way to help to teach them that the fireworks noise is not a threat ahead of time, reducing their stress around Bonfire night and the surrounding days.

🎆Do you need to buy any calming solutions, such as Pet Remedy?

🎆Have you set up a safe den space which your dog can retreat to?

Over the next few weeks there are a couple of scary events happening, so here is your reminder to plan ahead to minimise any impact you your dogs, and to keep them safe and settled.

🎃31st October - Halloween
🎆5th November - Bonfire Night

The celebrations of these events isn't confined to one night each, so be aware that evenings surrounding these events are likely to also to feature celebrations in your neighbourhood.

I'll share a few ideas this week of measures to help to reduce the upset to your dogs, so keep an eye out for those!

Do you give your dog extra titbits and treats at the weekend?
It can be so tempting, especially if we have a treat ourselves!

Just remember to maintain a balance in their diet and ensure they are at most 10% of their daily calories.

Often the foods we feed as little treats significantly impact their diet. They tip the calories, salts, sugars, and fats over the threshold of healthy limits, which is a major factor in pet obesity.

Have a weekend full of fun 🐾
