The rescue assist of Princess!

When we are not rescuing dogs, we are…training dogs, taking dogs to vet appts (3 days in a row this week, at least 2 days next week), cleaning up after dogs (p**p, p*e, vomit, fur, dirty rugs, couch covers, kennels, cars, human bedsheets, dog beds, yard, bowls, harnesses, you name it), posting adoptable dogs, combing FB for dogs at risk, feeding dogs, medicating dogs, taking dogs on teachable outings, buying dog supplies, helping good folks find or rehome dogs, and…

rescuing dogs by finding safe places for dogs when we are too full or otherwise unable to take a dog.

Today it is Princess, a 2 year old Beagle mix adopted out 3 times from Multnomah County Animal Control. She bays/howls and needs to eat separately from other dogs…no bite history. But her current owner since June cannot care for her, and says MCAS told her they’ll euthanize her if she is returned.
St. Martins Rescue has agreed to rescue her and she’ll go on Sunday.🌺🙏🏽🐾❤️🎊🙌🎉
Yes, I’m counting rescues before they’re hatched. Bright spots and hope are so important now more than ever!

Five Dollar Friday!
It’s late in the day because the dogs are in need and that has taken my time. Piper is still crying at night. This = pain, no sleep for dogs or for me, and another vet visit today. We are over $300 on her ears alone.
I am turning down dogs in need for financial reasons: Wesley’s brother Q now needs rescue, but will need neuter, dental, microchip, vaccinations, de-worming, preventatives.
There are two chiweenies in need of rescue that have never seen a vet.
We can’t.
We need fosters, volunteers willing to do help us with making our forms electronic. We tried, but they aren’t working properly.
We need volunteers to fundraise/manage an online auction.
We need money to help dogs.
Thank you.🙏🏽🌺🐾🫶🏽

Poor Pipes (aka Piper)! My rescue baby has an ear infection. I told the vet 3 weeks ago but they only diagnosed it yesterday.

Whatever was done at the vet yesterday, her ears hurt so much that she is crying and cannot stay in one place or lay her head down for the pain it causes her ears. She can’t sleep at all, so i did not sleep at all.

It’s 2 a.m. I just got up and gave her an NSAID for her pain, then tucked her in next to me in bed.
This woke the puppies, who started barking.

She cried all night.

Be kind to rescuers. Very very kind. We are beyond exhausted and beaten up by the extreme need in the dog world caused by…humans.

And by the unfathomably bad behavior of some humans. Not one or two people. A lot of people. Treating a lot of rescuers, some of the most selfless humans I’ve ever encountered, like crap.

I don’t expect those folks to wake up and start nicing over this post or for any other reason. They’re not decent humans.

In the end, we are not here for the unkind humans. We are here for the dogs.

Be kind. Piper sez so.

Rescues #73 & 74

These two pups will be available for adoption after their spay/neuter on 9/3.

They are mega adorable, funny and silly puppies that will make great companions. They are also sweet and cuddly, used to living with children, and meeting other dogs.
We are working with them on puppy manners and every day there is improvement.
Two days so far. Cocoa has become accustomed to being around a larger dog.
Both kids are learning new training cues like "good potty!" "Leave it!" "Treat (which means come)", "Off", "easy".
They sleep through the night in separate crates quietly. This is a lot of progress in a short time!
They have also learned off leash walking and recall, and have gone on two woods walks, two night walks to the state park and two trips to the river.
We are seeking homes with securely fenced yards, people who will treat them as family members and who are home a lot, as puppies need their humans.

The rescue of Cocoa and Oreo, littermates.

💗The Noodles, came to dinner tonight!
Mr. Oreo Noodle and his sister
Miss Cocoa Noodle!
Thank you Roberta J Parazoo for taking a long drive to give these sweet pups a ride to rescue.
They are 8 months old and 7.2 pounds each!
They each need to be fixed, vaccinated twice, micro-chipped, one needs to be de-wormed, and started on flea, tick and heartworm prevention.
Cocoa may need extra surgery, we’ll see.
That is $500 without the extra surgery. Please donate and help us continue to save dogs. Costs and need and the influx of dogs without much or any vet care and extra surgical needs has never been so extreme! Piper cost $287 today for an ear infection we already had her seen for once, but we were told no infection. Now if course it’s raging with yeast and inflammation.😔

AND…it’s a wrap!!! Carly went to live at the beach where she has active, young retired parents and a sister pup named Daisy (not pictured, that’s our Minnie!)

Carly will sleep on her parents’ bed as she wishes, go to the beach, have plenty of cozy places to curl up, lots of yard to explore and loving family and friends to visit!

Happy life, Carly!!

Please help us out!
Rescue is gangbusters without a break, a vacation, or time without dogs.

We are trying to help our local pups during the worst local overpopulation in history.

We have two puppies we committed to over 3 weeks ago, incoming from a home, unfixed and needing vaccinations, as they were not properly vaccinated . Then there is deworming, microchipping and flea and tick prevention.
(We just purchased microchips at the price break: $690.)

Most significantly, the female puppy has a genetic abnormality and is likely a hermaphrodite. She will require vet exams to see what is going on, whether surgery is needed, and if it is affordable.

Please help if you can.
Thank you.🌺

We are hoping that a medical rescue will take her, but everyone is stretched very thin.

In truth i need a break, time to get away, time to organize rescue, work on a website, be able to fix and digitalize my forms, learn and purchase a shelter software program, and take care of many things in rescue i have no time for when managing the vetting, care, and adoption of dogs. But I committed to these puppies and there is nowhere else for them to go.

Fwends!

Gilbert has decided he likes Piper! She’s hard not to love!

Generally, Gilly’s PTSD from his attack leads him to not to seek out the company of the not-forever foster dogs, especially larger ones.

But he is right; she is super special.

Cindy has a meet upcoming, with back up applicants.
We will post here if she is adopted. Thank you!

Little Cindy Lou Who, the 12-pound Miniature Poodle mix, is ready to shake things up! At 4 years old, she's got a love for laps and walks that never gets old. And don't worry, cat and small dog friends - Cindy's got plenty of love to go around!

The adoption of Felix!
Felix was set loose by his owner, a man who said, "dogs are too much work". He lived on the streets, until Good Samaritans Jessica and Kimberly scooped him up!
We had a spare dental available the next day, and adopters of another dog headed this way, so we took him in to the WOOF pack!
He was immediately neutered, dentaled, received rabies, vaccinations, a microchip, deworming, and preventives for fleas and ticks.
Maggie had her eye on him back in Gresham, and a match was made!!
Happy life Felix!🐾❤️🙏🏽🫶🏽

Clementine needs a new home!
She is a 6 yo 15 lb Norwich Terrier mix. She is snuggly and loving, is house trained and loves to run in the yard.
Clem knows a ton of tricks and training cues, including roll over, high five, spin, and bang bang. Sit, down and stay.
We are seeking a low traffic home for this little gal who does not love strangers in her home.
She comes with a dental in Mcminnville.
She has had a lot of training for leash reactivity. It may be best for her to just have a quiet yard.

We are seeking a great home for Rogue, a 49 lb 6 yo German Shorthaired Pointer.

He is a very nice boy.
Rogue loves to play fetch, he has great off leash recall, loves kids and other dogs.

He is happy, wiggles all over not just his tail! He is house trained, crate trained.

Rogue is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and on flea, tick and heartworm prevention.

He is fostered in Linn County, about an hour from Eugene, Salem, Corvallis, Sisters. 1.5 from Bend and 2 from Portland and Newport. Also available in or near Roseburg.

Application sends most reliably vua computer or tablet:

Low adoption fee.

Wesley was riveted by this great documentary about dogs’ minds.
He watched until we went to bed.

We’ll finish it tonight!
It’s a must see, whether or not your dog watches!

12/08/2024

Wesley loves this documentary “inside the Mind of a Dog.”

We agreed with Wesley: well worth watching!!
