A Day in the Life of ‘General Kane’

‼️General Kane is up for adoption‼️ (Please share to spread the word!)

As many of you all know, our hometown of Kane, PA helped trap and rescue a (now) year old pit bull pup in January and we named him ‘General Kane.’ Our town got together to help get him the care he needed- he’s been vetted, dewormed, microchipped, neutered and treated for Lymes and anaplasmosis. He’s been staying with his foster mom getting continued constant training since he was rescued.

General Kane also received professional training with Top Dog Training, LLC in St. Mary’s, PA and he does very well following commands and loose leash walks with use of an ecollar!!

He’s currently living with other animals, including cats and dogs, but in a very controlled environment. At this point, we’re finding he would do best in a home without other pets. We are continuing with the re-homing process.

He also has socialized with kids of various ages, but recommend he goes to a home without children unless they’re older.

General Kane is potty trained, crate trained (loves his crate and bed), and knows many commands, loves long walks and loves to play fetch! He loves one-on-one attention and is very loyal to you once he gets to know you and knows he’s loved. He loves to snuggle and will try to be a lap dog if you let him!!

✅50 lb neutered male pit bull
vaccinated, dewormed, treated for tick borne diseases (Lymes and anaplasmosis) and currently on tick, flea, worm prevention.
✅professionally trained by Top Dog Training, LLC and has 3 additional private lessons with the trainers for the new owners
✅crate and potty trained
✅knows many commands

❌no pets
❌no young children

He has been failed by many humans during his first year of life and needed to be slowly acclimated to society and to re-gain trust from humans again. This took a lot of time and effort. This boy has come a long way, but he will still require extra attention on continued training and socialization skills by his adopted family!!

General Kane is doing so well!!! We’re annoyed of the rain/snow and mud so it’s been fun trying to find other things to do…. We’re busy, but apparently not busy enough!!! Check pics at end of bad puppy!! lol 😂

He’s still just a pup and keeps reminding me of the days when Phoebe was a puppy and getting into a sorts of things and outgrew it after age 2 or so. Planning on finally letting him be roam free around Cammie and the cats this week to see how he does!!! No negative reactions in a long while! We may be ready!!! 🤞🤞💙❤️ 🦮🐕‍🦺🐕

General Kane is doing amazing!!!! Still working on training and more socializing!!!

The one day my nephew was over, he left the garage door open after he left and sure enough Kane went out and was ‘chasing’ him and also saw my cat! But his recall is improving so much. So he didn’t even touch my nephew (5 yo) and was more so curious about my cat, Calvin, snuffing him. I was able to redirect Kane and we went back to the garage for more training!!! He didn’t run away!! 😮‍💨🫣😵‍💫🤪

He’s a gentle, snuggly pup who wants attention and is very eager to learn more!!! He knows many commands and working on recall off leash at this time. He has his ‘place’ where he hangs out when I’m in the kitchen doing things and loves to be in his crate now!

Early on he had significant issues with grabbing at the leash, but he doesn’t do this anymore!!! He walks very well and I’m able to redirect him if he sees another animal during our walks. He has been around kids/teenagers and has been around cats/dogs. I’m slowly introducing him to my pup Camden as she has fearful aggression so it’s necessary depending on the type of pup you have.

When he’s introduced to something new that he hasn’t seen yet, he does act out a lil letting you know he’s scared- but is easily able to calm down at this point! I’m going to keep introducing him to everything I can think of and get him more acclimated so he’s ready for his new home.

Honestly….. I’m having a very difficult time even writing this. I never once had to rehome a pet and we’re definitely bonding. I’ve been somewhat avoiding this part as I know he’s been jumped home to home within his first year of his life and he’s finally comfortable. I also know he loved being with the trainers at school and enjoyed his stays there. So I know there’s potential of a new home for him where he can be happy elsewhere as well. But of course I’m having all kinds of thoughts and ideas going through my mind.

But if anyone is seriously interested in him and would like to get to know him, please reach out. I plan to be the biggest advocate for him to ensure he goes to the right home and will give him the best, because I already know he will be a devoted, loyal pet with whomever will give him the love and attention he deserves.

A more ‘formal’ adoption post will be posted soon. But I thought I’d throw some of the information out there to see who may be interested in General Kane.

Oh and he loves deer antlers!! 😇🥰🐾🐕❤️💙

Picked up General Kane yesterday from Top Dog Training, LLC after his first full week there!!!! 🐕🐾❤️💙🎉

Ohhhh my!!!! What a transformation in Kane and I’m just continuing to be amazed how General Kane is improving so much, has so much confidence now and is such an affectionate pup!!!!

I can’t thank everyone enough for helping him get the proper care he needed to excel and continue to excel as he will be going back to school next week for another whole week!! We’re hoping to start the rehoming process after his second week. So far it appears he can be around older kids, other dogs (unless they have fearful aggression- or need slowly introduced, and he hasn’t bothered my cats- but I also haven’t let them get up close and personal yet either). He seems to be doing so well in all areas. Please reach out to me or Ellen Bush if you’re interested in adopting him.

I’ll need to get some videos of us posted soon. It’s so hard to video us when I’m learning the training as well. 😂😂

Update: found out this pup with General Kane is his awesome school buddy, Archie and they’re doing so good together!! 🥰🐾🐕🙌. Proud of Archie and Kane!!!

Another good day with General Kane!!!

Marissa, the owner at Top Dog Training, LLC reached out and we have him scheduled to go back to training from Feb 20th- Feb 24th and then will go back again from Feb 27th- March 2nd!!! 🥰🥰

He’s feeling a lot better and we have been playing a lot of mental stimulation type games!!! He’s a very, very smart boy!! Even managed to take my seat on the porch today! 😂

Yesterday was a rough day as I wasn’t feeling well and he picked up on it. I also think he wasn’t still feeling well. But today he has been an angel. 😇

The last two nights he also led me to the garage where he used to stay as I feel he still likes it in there like it was his safe haven. I think I wore him out pretty well today!! 🥰🐕🐾❤️💙
