Have you considered a homemade diet?
Two things are true- homemade diets can be amazing for your pet IF done well and balanced appropriately.

Did you know it’s not complete and could potentially harm your pet? And that a diet that “balances” over time is not a great idea. Any nutritionist who treats animals who suffer from deficiencies will agree. The truth is individuals who propose this don’t know enough about deficiencies to recommend them and usually aren't veterinary medical professionals with advanced nutrition training.

On the other side of the coin a homemade diet can be incredible for pets who suffer from food storage mites, have GI disease. And an elimination diet trial or Whole- 30 -esque elimination whole food diet can help identify potential food sensitivities.

Did you know > 80% of veterinarians and technicians are women?

Despite the field being predominantly, we are underpaid compared to our male counterparts and see fewer opportunities to advance to leadership, and are less represented in positions in both academia and corporate veterinary medicine.

As women in the vet field, we know defeat and have a deep understanding of a life of compassion. Every day we show up, despite the factors against us. Not only are we in a profession with the highest career burnout and su***de rates, we have to deal with gender pay gap, the “motherhood penalty”, a lack of representation in vet school and corporate leadership, and the overall systemic bias hindering female advancement - yet we endure for the love of our clients and patients.

It is my vision that Vital Vet will empower veterinary professionals, give them a flexible schedule that is supportive of their quality of life and does not penalize them for the decisions to become a parent. It is my vision that Vital Vet certified Nutrition clinics help veterinary parents finish their medical records and call backs faster so they can go home to their families. Give them a tool to increase their practice and financial health. And provide a way to maintain it as an independent practice if that is their choice.

Who is surprised that obesity is a huge problem for pets? Not me.

Research has shown that reducing your pet’s weight to ideal can help them live longer and is a drug-free way to help control arthritis pain.

How do we start? If you can easily feel your pet’s ribs with gentle pressure, and they have a noticeable waist from above and the side, then they are likely at an ideal weight. If not, discuss with your vet or make an appointment to discuss with our Vital Vet Nutrition Specialists.

Vet professionals; sign up to learn how to initiate these conversations and how to implement a successful weight loss plan.

The most popular question:
What is the best food for my pet?

This can also be a frustrating answer in the clinic as the standard appointment does not lend enough time to do it justice, especially if there are alternative diets to discuss or misinformation to address. Sign up to learn how to have these conversations in a way that is energizing and rewarding vs draining.

Sign up via link in bio for the vet professional course or Pet owners comment “me” for a link to fill in a diet history form to initiate the conversation with a master vial vet nutrition technician. Accessibility is important to us at Vital Vet, and we offer several different ways to access quality nutrition advice.

The cornerstone of wellness. Sounds great, but what does that mean?

All too often pets are only referred to a nutritionist as a last option or only if they want a homemade diet. A conversation with a nutritionist can ensure your patients and pet’s health and longevity.

The Vital Vet Nutrition program trains the technicians at your hospital how to have these conversations, to make these vital conversations even more accessible.

Tag your veterinarian if this is a service you would like to see them offer.
