Kuzco ACCT-A-180143 is a 3-year-old intact male who came in as a stray on 11/7/24. Good Samaritan who found Kuzco stated he was sick and was brought inside for a few days. Finder described Kuzco as “friendly and cuddly”. Kuzco came to ACCT in rough shape and is in poor body conditions and have dental disease. He needs rescue that can provide further medical care and lots of TLC. Can you help Kuzco get his groove back?

On 11/8 During an exam Kuzco was noted to have “Stage 4 periodontal disease - calculus index 3, gingival index 3, most teeth missing, gingival recession on remaining teeth. Hypersalivation and malodorous. No obvious oral masses on cursory exam. During his ear examination he patience but staff was able to note dark brown discharge with mild erythema noted externally. No crackles or wheezing. Audible nasal congestion with mild clear nasal discharge. Severe generalized muscle loss; Ambulatory x 4; without ataxia, appreciable joint effusion, or asymmetry noted. Bladder large and turgid; p***s slightly extruded from prepuce but no inflammation or erythema noted; p urinated during exam after getting stressed and scared. Kuzco was noted to be Unthrifty; Saliva caked on all 4 limbs and around mouth. Severe sehorrhea on dorsum. Urinary blockage- rule out FLUTD vs uroliths vs other. Abdominal rads: no visible uroliths. Otitis externa AU. Diagnostics shows Ear cytology: AD- cocci 4+, Malassezia 4+, AS - cocci 2+, Malassezia 4+. 1 view abdominal rads shown no uroliths appreciated in bladder. Megacolon present. During the exam Kuzco was described as sweet overall but does not like to be scruffed and tried to bite after blood draw”

On 11/7 during an exam Kuzco was noted to be “Bright, alert, responsive and purring. Kuzco looks to have severe URI and/or oral disease. He was thin and dehydrated, ate canned food eagerly. Both eyes had clear discharge with crusting, no major mucoid discharge but there was a small amount in the left eye. Kuzco’s ears had dark, waxy debris but were not infected. His mouth had a foul, infectious smell coming from it. A thorough oral exam could not be completed but it was noted that there was sever ulceration in various areas of oral cavity, one that appeared to be deep, back by the left side molars on the buccal tissue. He has severe dental disease, gingivitis, missing and loose teeth. During exam it was noted that his right maxillary canine was hanging loose so it was pulled. The amount of calculus on his teeth could not be assessed. Severe dander build up throughout coat and severe flea dirt at skin surface. There was dried discharge on all 4 extremities likely transferred from head/mouth area and the discharge was causing irritation around mouth/cheeks. Staff noted assessment as Kuzco being in poor condition overall and it is difficult to assess his age due to this. Oral and dental health was noted as being upper respiratory infection, dental disease vs. stomatitis causing secondary oral disease and root abscesses. Not enough blood for cbc but CHEM17/lytes/T4/pcv/TS were ran. All results are attached to chart. FELV/FIV negative. Kuzco is mildly anemic with extremely high sodium and TP along with elevated GGT. Decreased ALP and Creat. Bloodwork has potential to be concerning but will begin treatments since Pt is so BAR and eating”

On 11/7 during the initial intake exam Kuzco has an opened wound in mouth. Legs were covered in dry discharge from mouth but no wounds found on legs. His eyes were watery, and left eye has green ocular discharge. Ears very waxy and he was noted to have clear nasal discharge. His teeth are yellowing, Bad odor- infection. Ulcer noted on the tongue. Wound on left side of mouth. RT top K9 very lose and hanging. Staff were able to remove. Dander, flea's and dirt were noted. Overall bright, alert, responsive and friendly.

🆘URGENT MEDICAL🆘

This poor girl was recently surrendered to the shelter for euthanasia. Orphan isn’t in the best shape and is dehydrated, unkept, has nails curling in, muscle waste, and doesn’t seem to be eating. Her notes also indicate she might be blind. The shelter will be doing a more thorough exam and bloodwork tomorrow but depending on results she could be put on a deadline for end of business tomorrow. Orphan lived her whole life in one home and with two other cats. Right now Orphan is urgent and needs out of the shelter and to a full service vet.

Orphan needs a committed foster, pledges for her medical care, and a rescue. If you have any questions or can help please PM the page.

*As a reminder pledges are only ever collected by Urgent Cats of Central Florida*

URGENT- Shy guy Jessie Needs Adoption by Sun 11/10 or Rescue by Mon 11/11 EOD‼️(closed on Mondays to the public)

Jessie came to North Central as a stray back in March. Since he has been at the shelter, he has quietly been struggling in his kennel. Several volunteers have worked with him, all noting his nervousness and reluctance to leave his quiet cubby. He appreciates a slow approach and needs time to trust. He previously shared his kennel with other dogs and has participated in shelter playgroups. He does best in a softer/polite group of dogs. He was tolerant of a pushy small dog also.

Jessie is not thriving in the shelter. The constant noise and activity is especially stressful on a sensitive boy like Jessie. After 8 months waiting, he needs to get out of the shelter and into a home, where he can shed all this stress! Our hope is with a savvy, patient person who knows how to work with shy/nervous dogs, he will open up & learn to dog 🥺❤️‍🩹A role model dog companion would be helpful.

Due to his “poor transition to a shelter setting and high FAS (fear/anxiety/stress) in his kennel” Jessie is now URGENT and must find safe exit by Mon 11/11 EOD, or he will be euthanized on 11/12.💔

Please help Jessie❣️

BEHAVIOR:
What my friends at ACC say about me:
* My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!
* I have medical needs that staff will address with you when you meet me.
* I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.
* Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy!

Yum was in the den in the loaf position, appearing fairly calm, allowed all petting and then warmed up and enjoyed chin rubs and cheek petting, lifting her chin. She sniffed treats, but didn't eat them and remained in place.

Yem interacts with the assessor, appreciates & solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is suitable for any level of adopter experience.

We will immediately alert the rescue of your incoming app. If you live locally to NYC and want to adopt directly from the shelter please continue to read below.

ABOUT TRANSPORT: In some cases, when rescue has approved adopter there may be FREE TRANSPORT up to a 4 horr. radius outside of NYC, including all or parts of NY, NJ, CT, PA, NH, VT, RI, MA, MD, DE & DC (see the transport map provided). More distant adopters can meet the transport van, (i.e. a NC or VA adopter could meet in MD or DC, or an OH adopter could meet in PA).

ABOUT KITTENS: Kittens under 8 wks old & under 2 lbs, due to fragility are NOT PUBLICLY ADOPTABLE. They can only be pulled by a rescue group for specially-trained, pre-approved kitten foster homes in NY, NJ & CT.

ABOUT PLEDGES: Pledges are paid directly to the 501(c)3 RESCUE that pulls the cat. The Rescue Donation link (if known) will be posted for pledges to be honored. Pledges do not guarantee that a cat's life will be saved but it may help a rescue decide if they can pull the cat and cover his/her medical needs, vetting expenses.

ABOUT US : MLC is a 100% volunteer run page. We can help facilitate a rescue, by connecting you with a 501c3 RESCUE. Must Love Cats is NOT a rescue, nor are we affiliated with any of the NYC ACC shelters.
