Kintraks pedigrees can be customised for your needs. Select TEMPLATES to select your generation number and orientation.
To view and arrange the structure of your pedigree select the ARRANGE option from the pedigree designer toolbar. You can then drag and drop any text or brackets to your preferred position. If you wish to remove an element altogether, simply drag it right off the page.
To add blocks of text, use the DETAILS option from the toolbar and position them wherever you like. Select the information you want for each generation using FIELDS.
Don't forget to save your changes as one of your personal templates to ensure it is always available for all your animals. You can import templates from one database to another with the IMPORT option.

Ensuring your data stays safe is super important to us! Whether you're safeguarding against unexpected mishaps or simply wanting to keep your furry friends' records secure, backing up is key.

Kintraks offers some great ways to make sure your database stays protected:

Backup to Your Computer:
Easily turn on automatic backups in Settings. It's a lifesaver if you accidentally delete records, but keep in mind, it won't rescue you if your computer decides to act up. So, while it's handy, don't rely on it alone!

Backup to Removable Media:
Copy your data to a USB drive or disk! This option is like having an extra safety net against computer malfunctions. Make it a habit to do this regularly and stash a copy somewhere safe.

Backup to Your Cloud:
If you use iCloud, Google Drive, or One Drive you can automatically back up your Documents folder, including the Kintraks folder.
Just a heads-up, though—if you delete the database file on your computer, it might vanish from your cloud storage too. Get familiar with that cloud "undelete" feature! Usually, you can retrieve files for up to 30 days.

Backup to Your Online Kintraks Archive:
If you're a registered user, you've got unlimited online backup perks! Super handy if you're hopping between different computers. Just head to the Database menu or right-click on the file name in the database list to choose "Backup To Online Archive."

Kintraks offers users several import options for easier data management. Access the "Import" feature from the Database menu to effortlessly transfer records between Kintraks databases. Whether it's migrating data from your own database or selectively incorporating records from a friend or club member's database, this feature streamlines the process.

Check the option import ancestors to bring in the complete family tree of the chosen animal, ensuring complete pedigrees.

Starting a new database from text records? Easily import from a CSV file, a straightforward text file where data segments are separated by commas or other delimiters. Ensure that the first row lists the field names.

Kintraks typically organizes your data into its predefined fields, even accommodating any unusual entries by creating custom fields automatically. For detailed instructions on formatting, refer to the Help file or watch our instructional video for a step-by-step guide. If you have a difficult file send it to me and I'll convert it for you.

Version 10.05.03 is now available for download.
This version can reproduce higher resolution pedigree backgrounds so if you need to add something to your pedigree template but can't do it with the tools provided, just create your background in a good graphics program and add graphics and text to suit. Then add it to your pedigree template using the Custom button in the Background options.

Now unlocked for Mac Monterey and earlier and Windows 7 to 10.
All Linux versions are still free. All other versions just $20 for unlimited records and lifetime updates.

Today marks 20 years since the first Kintraks Animal Breeder software was purchased.
Originally written for a breeder who was struggling with spreadsheets, Kintraks has helped tens of thousands of breeders and conservationists all over the world organise and plan their activities for a wide variety of mammals, birds and reptiles.
There are still people who have been using the program since the first version on CD was made available on eBay in 2003 and they continue to receive free updates and support. Others have returned to breeding after many years and are surprised that their old software still works, their original archived databases are still available and they can still use the program free of charge.
There has been many improvements and addition features but the basic interface has stayed the same.
I’ve watched many other programs come and go in 20 years. Websites have simply disappeared overnight abandoned their customers and their valuable records forever. I will continue to develop Kintraks so it works on the latest operating systems and provide ongoing support for all users.
I hope you have enjoyed using Kintraks and will continue to use it far into the future.

Kintraks Animal Breeder can create a html version of your pedigree database which you can upload to your website.
For some users who are not computer savvy, it is difficult to upload the files to their server and get everything connected to their page.
I am now offering all registered user the opportunity to have all their database pedigrees available in HTML format on my server for 3 months free of charge.
I will upload the files and send you a link which you can paste into your page like this -

Version 10.03.03 is now available.
This update is focussed on making life easier for all animal breeders. The program now saves your Window position and size for convenience. It also allows you to resize column widths and save. Your reports and printouts will only have the columns you want to show.
There is now a better way to add Contacts to other forms using the existing Contact form.

Kintraks Animal Breeder now allows you to add an individual animal to unlimited Groups.
What's good about Groups?
Groups allow you to tag animals with particular characteristic or requirements to view and apply changes to their records in one operation.
A group can be your best show animals, a litter, individuals a particular trait or treatment regime or anything you can think of.
Version 10.01.03 allows you to create and remove animals in bulk from groups by selecting multiple names from the Search list and right-click > Edit.

If you are the type of person who never considers backing up your data please think again.
Making a secure backup enables you to restore records or information which you may accidentally delete or lose one day and gives you a plan B if your computer malfunctions, is destroyed or stolen.
Imagine having to start from scratch and enter all your records again to rebuild your database.
Ideally you should have two backup copies in different locations eg. one on a physical drive (removable) and one in the Cloud.
Make a backup of your data right now to give you peace of mind. Insert a USB thumb drive and open Animal Breeder. From the top menu choose Database > Backup > To Disk. Browse for your drive.
Registered users have free remote backup of their data included.
Open Animal Breeder and right click on any database name on your list. Choose UPLOAD ALL TO PRIVATE ARCHIVE.
When done you can use the RESTORE button to copy your backup files to any computer.
