When the cats get together to play D&D...
.. Muskrat is definitely the DM. She's slightly older and more experienced than the other fosters. She lets them into her home (she *has* been a foster with us for 9 months now! 😮) and plays games with them. But she doesn't try to take it easy on the players... She crafts a game that puts them in their places and is also fun for everyone involved. 😉
Muskrat is a long-term foster with us, though she was only recently cleared for adoption. She came to us at 4 weeks old (when we were working with a different rescue) with a serious eye infection and other issues. Once her infection was under control, we realized that her eyelids were slightly deformed. Then she had some joint issues (our family vet said she would grow out of them) and other health concerns that prompted our old rescue to believe she wouldn't be adoptable. She was given to us as a permanent hospice kitten - but then she proved them wrong and outgrew all her issues! She has some depth perception issues, so she's not always comfortable jumping up onto things and when she tries to play-fight with the other animals, it looks like she's shadow boxing.
Muskrat is talkative, somewhat independent, and would be a great addition to any home. She's small for her age and has likely stopped growing. We don't think she'll be more than 7-8 lbs ever, so if you're looking for a smaller cat, she might just be the one!
She's good with dogs and cats of all ages, but doesn't need a young companion like many other fosters. She would prefer not to be picked up, so a home with kids who are old enough to respect that is necessary.
She's up to date on vaccines, spayed, microchipped, and has been dewormed. We love her so much, but we're definitely at max capacity for family cats, so she is ready to find a forever home. 💖
If you have questions, feel free to message me. You can also apply online at Kalamazoo Animal Rescue .org. Check out the photo album where this pic is posted for lots of pictures of Muskrat. Her name with the previous rescue was Aurelia, so many of them will have that name associated with her. 😉
