We operate out of Seven Oaks Ranch, a premiere boarding and training facility located in Spring Hill, KS. Two Bit Training is owned and operated by Daphne Thornton, an equine professional with over 40 years of experience. We operate on the belief that our clients' needs come first, and are committed to meeting those needs. As a result, most of our business is from referrals. If you've found us on

your own, please feel free to visit or call to get more information. You can always reach Daphne at 816-507-5928 or through email at [email protected]. We would welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and deliver to you the best riding experience possible. In addition to lessons and showing, we also offer sales and training. You can see videos of our sale and training horses on our sale page, or by going to YouTube and searching for the channel Twobitkc. We only accept horses for sale that we feel we can honestly represent and recommend. We would be happy to look at your horse for an evaluation of it's sale potential. Training horses are accepted as space is available and after an evaluation of their potential and an honest discussion with the client about their goals and expectations.

Dear Horse Ad Writing Public,

When talking about a horse steering, use REINS, not REIGNS (unless the horse is the King of England). When talking about a horse stopping, use BRAKES, not BREAKS (unless the horse comes apart, literally, in the transition). When talking about a horse body, use CONFORMATION, not CONFIRMATION (unless it just pledged it's soul to Jesus in a longish ceremony wearing a white dress). When discussing the length of their neck hair, use MANE, not MAIN (unless you are...I don't even know what).

Sincerely,
The Horse Ad Reading Public

And, as a further public service, here's my annual publication of information on how to accurately read horse ads. You're welcome.

Metronome 3/25/2000-6/7/2024

There are hundreds of pictures I could post of Toad, all with tricolors, and most with multiple tricolors. But, I am just going to post this one. Toad had a lot of people come in and out of his life over the years, but his two constants were myself, and Shannon Marie Basinski. We took care of him and made sure the temporary people along his journey respected who, and what, he was. Sometimes that was hard, but he was worth all the rules and restrictions we put in place and enforced. Most of the trainers, and most of the judges in whose rings he competed, tried to buy him at some point. He was that amazing. Thank you to Paula Pray for finding him for us all those years ago, and to Maureen Reynolds Sutter for a peaceful and dignified end to this exceptional life. At the end, Shannon and I were there, along with Nancy Basinski and Roch Thornton and Jef Foley. It was a small (on purpose) and loving cadre who sent him on his final journey. And so this picture of Shannon and Toad is a fitting final testament to a wonderful life. Toad, I don't believe in an after life, so I don't believe I will see you again. However, the privilege of knowing you in this life was more than enough.

And, just because you should always put something nice back into a universe that has been so very kind to you, I'd like you to meet Gaga. Y'all will have to decide who she's actually named after. Old-ish, thin, and those feet, lol. She needed a soft landing and someone was kind enough to point that out to me. Noted, done, and dusted!

We would not have gotten home without the help of Clint Coulter (Coulter Horse Transport) who found us a ride late on a chaotic Friday afternoon in a devastated town (thanks Chance Otto!). So many roads were closed that it took Chance 2 hours to get to the horse show, and he lives there, lol. And a special thanks as well to Cristen Ransford Williams and Emily Williams for meeting our horses at 11:30 at night and making sure they were tucked in and happy. I keep telling ya', it takes a village. I love mine.
