I scratched my eye and mom is forcing me to wear the cone of shame. As if it's not humiliating enough, Beau is trying to make it a two puppy cone!

This is Tesha, formerly known as Old Lady. She is a 10 year old Saint Bernard who lived in a puppy mill her entire life. She spent her life living in a barn, giving birth to litter after litter after litter, until she was no longer useful. The kindest thing the puppy mill owner ever did for her is to release her to rescue. On January 4th, 2019 Ruff Start Rescue stepped in to give “Old Lady” a new life. They began calling her Old Lady because she never had a real name and she was literally an old lady. Unfortunately, when she arrived at her new foster home she became spooked by the crunching snow and ran. Her foster mom tried to hang onto the leash as she was being drug down the driveway. She eventually fell and dropped the leash. This began Old Lady’s 17 day ordeal in, dragging her leash, through rural Zimmerman Minnesota.
There were several sightings of Old Lady, however she was very timid and didn’t trust humans. No one was able to get close to her. Then the sightings stopped. Ruff Start Rescue contacted The Retrievers Lost Dog Team to assist with trying to capture Old Lady. A trail camera was placed at her foster home in hopes that she would returned to that area, but she didn’t. We were very concerned because the weather was supposed to be below zero and Old Lady had been shaved prior to coming to the rescue. After 9 days, we received another sighting by a wildlife preserve. A trail camera was set up, but Old Lady didn’t show back up. A couple days later, someone saw later running across the frozen lake. She now had a large stick that had gotten tangled up in her leash.
On January 21st, we received information that someone had found Old Lady. Her leash had become tangled in some trees. A man and his grandson, who happened to be walking on the trails behind their house, had spotted her and contacted the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Department. The deputy that showed up immediately recognized her from her missing poster and contacted the rescue. Old Lady was finally safe!!
Old Lady was brought back to Ruff Start Rescue where she was seen by the veterinarian. Her vitals were good, she was a little frostbitten and she only weighed 88 lbs. She stayed at the rescue for a couple of days so she could be monitored by the vet.
