Multiple foxes seen to safety, hounds mark to ground at badger sett & terrier men caught netting and bagging fox

Together with our friends Kent Hunt Sabs and South Coast Hunt Sabs, we paid a visit to the Kent Hounds. Based on their movements in years gone by, we predicted their route and positioned ourselves accordingly. Surely enough, a fox broke covert from a small woodland by Puckstone Farm in full pursuit of hounds. Giving the fox extra time, our foot team was at hand to rate hounds off and continued to stop their attempts at retracing the line.

After rounding the hounds up the hunt moved south to the Newnham Valley, east of Wickhambreaux, mainly keeping to the road as their land access has dwindled over time. Furthermore, seeing the hunt staff, riders and car supporters travelling together reveals how small of a hunt they have become - especially embarrassing as the last fox hunt in all of Kent.

Hunting resumed in the south of the valley where hounds picked up a scent on multiple occasions, resulting in the pack splitting and could be seen in all directions. Hounds were left unattended for a considerable amount of time, going in and out of cry and at one point, had marked to ground at an active badger sett. It was in this area that at least two foxes had been spotted by our vehicle team, who pushed them away from the direction of the hunt and hounds.

The rest of the day saw the hunt cast hounds in and out of the swamp and pockets of trees around Newnham Valley area, zig-zagging as much as possible. Saboteurs remained present for the majority of time, despite the confused efforts of hunt supporter and wannabe-bully-boy Nathan Gilbert aka ‘Giblet’. The hunt kept moving off on arrival of our team as well as the presence of sab groups present, though hounds continued to be hunted on. After little luck, and an embarrassing display of the huntsman and hunt staff attempting to round up hounds only metres away from them, the hunt made one last attempt and hunted on the footpath that leads along the east side of reservoir, eventually making a final draw of a nearby woodland. Accompanied, of course, by a group of terrier men on 3x quad bikes with boxes on (containing terriers and spades). They too were driving on the public footpath which is also naughty!

Keeping ourselves well positioned, we kept with them until they concluded to draw a blank and head back to the meet, packing up at around 4pm.

Though we are confident that no kills took place, Kent Hunt Sabs have captured some damning and upsetting drone footage of terrier men netting and bagging a fox, which they will publish soon.

We would like to once again thank everyone who has supported us following the attack by Hursley Hambleton Hunt on our team. As mentioned before, we aren’t going anywhere.

TRIGGER WARNING: violence and open wounds

21/12/24 - Hursley Hambledon Hunt
Longwood Grain Store, Wi******er

Working off intel, we made an impromptu away day to the HHH just outside Wi******er. They unboxed at Longwood Grain Store, and from the minute we jumped from the car they were threatening, violent and desperate to get rid of us. Early in the day, two of our sabs were harassed and bullied from male members of the hunt. They tried again and again to violently pull off our masks, our hats, aggressively grab us by our wrists and even dragged us by our hair. This was all while we were trying to escape to a road. Justifiably, we were very shaken, but we didn’t know how vicious they would become later in the day.

It quietened down for a while, and we temporarily lost sight of them but had a vague idea where they were. By the time we’d caught up to them, the majority of the field had gone home and it was just the main hunting body and terriermen. With only 30 or so minutes left of sunlight, and for the first time all day, the hounds went into cry while the hunt were on point outside of Old Down Plantation. They were desperate to kill, but we were equally desperate to stop them, so our small group of three pulled out all the stops and rating the hounds off. Furious that we’d got in their way all day, and never allowed them to kill, the hunt and their thugs charged at us. Nine of them, including the Hunt master Kieran Hawkes, his sister Lauren and their dad Mike Hawks jumped off their horses and just absolutely went for us. They ripped a body cam off one of our chests to make sure nobody would see what they were about to do. Three or four of them (it’s a bit of a blur) held one of our female sabs down while another stamped on her and punched her face. She came away with a swollen eye, a bloody nose and a bloody finger nail. Oh, and to top it off they stole her phone. They held another sab back so they couldn’t intervene and protect her. They hit a sab multiple times on his head with the back of their whip, causing a serious wound to his head and a trip to the hospital. They almost took his eye out with the whip too.

We managed to pull ourselves away and they berated us the whole way down a public footpath. The sun was setting and we ran to our vehicle, while they hurried back to the meet. They seemed to get pleasure from seeing us battered and bruised, but if they think they’ve scared us off, they’re wrong.
This level of violence was not expected, and we think it might have something to do with the fact that the HHH mauled a deer to death last week which local sabs reported on.
While we’re just glad they didn’t manage a kill this week, this sab has cost us a lot in petrol (4 hour round trip), and stolen equipment. The GoPro body cam in particular was granted to us by Protect The Wild only at the start of this season, which was so needed as a new group. Please support out GoFundMe to replace the gopro and one of our phones which got stolen. It would also mean the world to us if our fundraiser was shared around!

Thank you for the messages of solidarity we have received so far.

Last Saturday we made a trip to Kent to scope out the Kent Hounds along side comrades . Perhaps the huntsman was deterred from leaving the kennels due to sab presence in the area, but either way they didn’t go out. Satisfied they weren’t hunting that day, we went home.
However, this week, we happened upon the Downland Club Hare Hunt blatantly hunting from Forstal Farm in Peasmarsh East Sussex.
Beagle packs usually pack up quickly at the sight of sabs (not so mouthy when not on horseback) because of how easy it is to prove they’re illegally hunting, but this pack gave us quite the run around. Fortunately, we were joined by and and this meant the hunt didn’t ever get too far.
At one point the hunt were seen sending hounds through steep river banks leaving many of them distressed and stuck in the water. This kind of disregard for hounds wellbeing is all too common.
Sabs closely followed the pack back to the meet and once the hounds were packed up, we made sure they headed right back to the kennels.
Some aggro from hunt members, and some hilariously ironic accusations that we as animal rights activists were going around kicking dogs.
Successful day, big things coming soon :)
