CYMI, the second part starts at 9 a.m. this morning. Please (free!) register at the imbedded link to join in. If you can't tune in that's ok, you will be emailed a recording link in the next couple of days. By working together we can all help reunite pets with their owners. Let's get them home!
"Show Us What Found Feels Like: Join Maddie’s® Million Pet Challenge in making 2024 the year we amplify What Found Feels Like and celebrate animals going home in the shelter and community. It’s the year we shine a light on the bright spots and Return-to-Home solutions you’re advancing, starting with the February 21 and 28. Every dog and cat returned home counts—and for the people who’ve been missing them, the impact is immeasurable!
Dogs reunited with their families from a block away or more than a thousand miles. Cats returning to the porches, neighborhood hangouts, caregivers and communities they know and love. For animals and their people, the Right Place feels right. Going home again is something to celebrate, and so are the people who help make it happen at the shelter and in the community.
But right now, more than half of animals are entering shelters as “stray,” and only one of them will go home. Together—from frontline staff and volunteers to shelter leaders and community members—we can change that stat.
By getting just 20% more stray dogs back home, we have the power to end unnecessary shelter euthanasia and find homes for every dog who really needs one."

Join Maddie’s® Million Pet Challenge in making 2024 the year we amplify What Found Feels Like and celebrate animals going home in the shelter and community. Submit your photos, videos and stories of dogs and cats heading back to the people, places, and animal pals they know and love by February 2...

Absolutely! If you come across a wandering dog, snap a great photo of them, note the nearest address and cross streets, stop and ask a neighbor for assistance. Perhaps they can ‘hold’ the dog on their property (or ask another local) to help. Most pets aren’t too far from their home. Contact the local police, sheriff, and County, for the nearest shelter to file a Found pet report.

Many families will be traveling this weekend. If you find a lost dog passing through a town, please do NOT transport the dog out of the area

Are you and your pets, your family, your neighbors, all ready for whatever may come your way? Please don't wait, make and have a plan A, B, and C.

Be Prepared: Now would be a great time to put your prep kit together in case of emergency! Items like a two week supply of food & water, a recent photo of your pet and you, crates/carriers for cats, licensing, microchip, rabies vaccination and medical paperwork, paper towels, gloves, disinfectants, and blankets, medications and dosing instructions and veterinarian contact info, cat litter, litter box, scoop/doggy waste disposal bags, leashes, collars, and harnesses, toys, kongs, and other treats to help keep animals calm, and ID clips/tags to braid into horse's mane, & paint pens are helpful to have readily available.
