children. Our Pet Sitting concept is different from most because we are not a dog kennel or cattery. Our dog and cat boarding is not in a brick and mortar facility but rather the pets stay in approved pet sitting homes. The Pets Are Inn concept was founded in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was formed out of necessity when a couple discovered that the family pet, Chopin (who is a person disguised as a dog), did not do well in a kennel. On subsequent vacations, they solicited friends for the care of Chopin. However, they were uncomfortable imposing on friends, neighbors, or relatives. They had inadvertently stumbled on an ideal alternative to kennel boarding. Namely, soliciting a “Host Family” to care for the furry family member while they were away for a vacation or business trip. This was a humane alternative that addressed equally the pet’s physical and emotional needs, and it’s family’s peace of mind. Thus, Pets Are Inn was born as “The #1 Alternative for Boarding Your Pet While You’re Away” with “All the Comforts of Home.”

Pet lovers endorsed Pets Are Inn and it’s values. In 1986 the business began expanding through franchising. Today there are locations nationally, including Hawaii. Pets Are Inn has been featured on TV and on Radio and in various national publications...
